    One thing that bugs the hell out of me is hearing people say "he's a bum" about any MLB player. Anyone who plays even one inning in MLB are the top 1% in the world.

    Yep, staying consistent will keep you in a lineup. Give yourself a break though, you had some wrist injuries you couldnt help. You have an MLB hit! how many people can say that?

      Matt *really* puts it in perspective; I mean, you hear about the talent level, you can kinda imagine it, even, yet there's a disconnect.
      Hearing it from a genuine, like, *guy,* that *made* the climb, and is gifted in relating the feel, the rarefied *air,* really jolts you.
      And, he actually went *yard* on them boys. Awesome.

      i hit 464 in highschool and i thought tht was hard . imagine hitting just 300 in majors if u hit 300 over ur whole career ur probably a good hof candidate depending on ur other stats. very very hard to hit 300 nowaddays in mlb. id say guys who hit anything 250 and up know what they are doing

    i doubt you will even see this comment but i would really love to know a general answer here . If ur a new guy that just got called up to mlb how many games do u typically have to prove yourself like maybe ur off to a slow start or maybe ur pinch hitter which is really difficult. Im a huge baseball fan played college and highschool and all star wood bat travel league but never triple a or nothing like that i just didnt love it enough but i always wondered how quick will they give up on a guy? id imagine a guy thats already proved himself can get away with more slumps than "fresh meat". Like will they start u for maybe 18 games out of a month and come to a conclusion typically idk.

    Great Video! Did you find that players with a larger signing bonus had an easier time moving up in the minors than a player with a smaller signing bonus as the organization had more invested in them?

    • @TheGodYouWishYouKnew
      @TheGodYouWishYouKnew 5 років тому

      That’s absolutely true. We see that all the time just by following the transactions of an organization

    • @danejurus69

      I think it's results based. I doubt how much your signing bonus was determines how quickly or slowly you rise up the ranks.

    I have heard that it works both ways. "Hard to get there, easy to stay" and "Easy to get there, hard to stay". My dad was in "The Show" at 20 years and 10 days old. His career as a big leaguer was only two years. I think of Endy Chavez when this subject comes up. Endy Chavez stayed in the big leagues for a long while but do not remember him getting there with much fan fair. Remember Lenny Harris...was around forever. Relief pitcher Dotel as well. Works both ways in my opinion.

    From what I can tell, there are a little over 19K MLB players since 1876 and only about 1000 position players and about 1000 pitchers played at least 10 years. So, only ~10% of guys who get a cup of coffee make it 10 years.

      @Javelin3o4 5 років тому

      I've seen your first two questions in his video's before as well as asked to other players and the responses are usually the same. If the runner and first baseman know each other they will usually ask how the family is, or talk about getting dinner afterwards, if they didn't know them usually just a hey. As far as coming out of the game IIRC he said he got injured and never made it back.

    I'm just curious why the route going to MLB is way way harder than the other pro sports? Like in the NBA if you got drafted especially if you're a lottery pick there is a guarantee that you'll have a spot right away unless you did not sign by any team. But I heard in MLB even if you are a lottery pick you still need to play first in the Minors... Why is that?

    • @AntonelliBaseball

    Great video! I had a friend who went to high AAA, who said he never struggled., but said you constantly play the best, of the best constantly.
    being promoted to high AAA, he said the game changed so much and the talent was so deep, it was as if he never had played the game. He said he couldn’t make the necessary adjustments and was summarily cut a few weeks later. He had basically spent his life chasing his dream and it was over within weeks.

    • @metaljustice4518
      @metaljustice4518 5 років тому

      He couldn’t hit the high AAA curve ball, or even see the fast balls coming at him and was given two weeks to figure it out or be cut. Needless to say, he was done after that. He said he couldn’t figure out how to adjust and the game and talent passed him by.
