    You can really see the difference. My 10 year old was helping my old ass on tee work the other day. I went from exit velocity of 80-82 off the tee to 85 -87 using a wood bat in a matter of 20 minutes He was showing me just this.

    This is the exact same thing I’m trying to get my 10 year old boy to understand. He pushes the knob down to the ball. He misinterpreted getting your hands inside the ball. Shame on me for not recognizing this earlier. Almost there though. Thank you for the great information on all of your videos!

    I am so glad I found you. I have been preaching the mechanics of the elite level swing on my Facebook page (Inside Corner Softball) and many people in the softball community are just not accepting that there is no difference in the BB swing vs SB swing. No one understands the scap load and what you have to feel to get into the proper posture and alignment. So many coaches on the travel circuit as well as those at the college level that are still teaching hands/knob to the ball. The so called 'experts' just keep spewing the same stuff that has been handed down over time. Thanks for what you do!

    The thing I see the most is that his hands/wrists are cocked more in the improved version. While in the original version, his hands are already a bit opened up during his approach and before contact.

    Matt, really good video and instruction. I noticed his feet went from closed to very open. This just looks more natural for the lower half and the hip rotation as opposed to even a straight on stance. Is this just something you saw in him, or is this something you try to incorporate in your hitting instruction?

    • @AntonelliBaseball
      @AntonelliBaseball  5 років тому +1

      Thanks!!! His foot is more open because of the drill we were doing, but I do try to straighten out the feet if they are too closed. Thanks for watching!!

    Really like what he did with the swing especially with the hands at the start of the swing using the top hand to pull away. My question is my son is 10 and he a bad problem with trying to load up with his hands causing him to change levels. What are some drills or way to get him to pull away pre swing. I have tried to get him to get his hands straight to the ball but doing this he over compensates and his hands end up betting the rest of the body through the zone.

    Hey Matt, I have heard a lot of conflicting opinions on whether the knob of the bat is supposed to be facing the catchers. I just wanted to hear your opinion on whether the bat should be “coiling” during the load.

    • @thalloutboy
      @thalloutboy 5 років тому +1

      The amount of bat coil you should have depends mostly on your own preference. Here are some examples of varying bat coil.
      Extreme coil- Bryce Harper twitter.com/hyattcraig/status/857957170142261248?s=21
      Moderate coil- Mike Trout twitter.com/hyattcraig/status/1043341984281153537?s=21
      No coil: Ronald Acuña Jr. twitter.com/hyattcraig/status/1048391066469056512?s=21

      I'd say most hitters have their knob somewhere towards the catcher. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    One last comment. . . many people who do not understand the elite level swing will look at this and say, "He's barring his front arm." NOPE! It is called staying connected with the lead arm and being co-linear. It all comes down to bio-mechanics and how the body works most efficiently.

    I was expecting him to move his front foot towards the plate. Wouldn't he have trouble with the outside pitch given his front foot staying open?

    • @baileysmith4744
      @baileysmith4744 5 років тому

      cavassucks, the front foot going open normally restricts that and some bat power but he is still working on things. if he steps into an equal stance from there it could help keep his stance the same but get more power

    Swing on left creates more bat speed but on right has better contact to ball.
    Coach,
    Do you think scarify some bat speed for better contact worth? Or increase bat speed like swing on left and working on contact?
    Thanks

    Looks like his weight is transferring to his front foot halfway through the swing. You can see his back foot lift and move forward as he comes through the ball. It's definitely worse in the "before" video than the "after," but it still looks like he's shifting his weight forward somewhat onto his front leg. I've been trying to get my son to sit on that back leg more for a more powerful hip rotation (rather than spinal rotation), and the front foot is just touching down for balance. Is there a reason you wanted this player to get his weight on his front leg, or was that just something you hadn't ironed out yet with his technique?
