Why aren’t we building real green energy? Nuclear power plants.

I believe the main reason is that there was this crappy movie in the 70's called "The China Syndrome", it spooked people, and we're a soft-headed society so we stay spooked? That's my understanding.

Maybe its too expensive to build a power plant nowdays- it's hard to find workers in Maine. A local high school build had to fly in workers from abroad. So maybe the math doesn't work out regarding cost to build and output.

@@LynnStone44 maybe you haven’t seen the “green energy” slush funds. Enough money has been blown on terrible energy plans that would have completely build new nuclear power plants

@@LynnStone44 Yet, they will have crews to install numerous, massive, turbines? No. It's not about finding workers. I wonder what else might be at play? 🧐🙄

I would love to hear your view on what we DO want. We will not win if all we do is fight against things. We need to be FOR something. I want us to decide what we want. I propose marine sanctuaries to re-build the oceans fecundity. I propose we stop dragging. I propose that we only approve aquaculture that grows species that do NOT require feed be brought in. I also propose people stop putting dramatic music in these videos. It feels manipulative and to me is a sign that the facts are not enough.

      On-shore solar is the answer.

@@aldenhathaway7162 One thing that is hard is that people think that there is something that will 'replace' fossil fuels. There is not. Solar is part of the answer. Wind is part of the answer where appropriate. Hydro can be used, as can tidal power. Transmission is an issue, so we might want to think about hybrid refrigerators. They already exist and can run direct off solar all day, then switch at night. There is no one answer. As long as we look for that we will fail and get in our own way and squash the many diverse solutions we need to try out.
