Sam Ovens provides (in my opinion) the best business content on the web, and yet, he's still only at 80k subs. I ask myself why...
Is it because he's making long-form content that challenges people's mind & patience.
    Probably.
Is it because he's being honest, saying what people need to hear and not what they want to hear.
    Probably.
Is it because he's _not_ speaking in a very dramatic & intense manner to inflict a lot of emotions within people to spike their dopamine levels.
    Probably.
Is it because he's teachings mainly get recognized & appreciated by other INTJS's that share the same values
    Probably.
Is Sam's 479 published videos that only have generated 80k subs the result of an interesting fact? A fact that explains that people value emotions spikes and short adrenaline rushes more than information that can change their entire life for the better?
    Probably.
Will Sam Ovens keep releasing these videos because he's a machine that knows that his sophisticated messages will not go mainstream (yet) but don't mind this because he's making a very strong impact that resonates deeply with the crowd that matters.
    Hopefully.

    • @KlaasVictor
      @KlaasVictor 4 роки тому +5

Good analysis!:-) I suppose the style of the videos is already a selection of the right kind of people. The 80k might be a preselection of people that have a high chance of succeeding by joining the consulting accelerator course.

thank you for providing a breadth of examples because time and financial are the obvious examples. It also helped to know from your example of WHEN it makes sense to get a team, because it helps me contain the stress of whether or not I need a team, because it answers the question, "when should I think about having a team?" The answer I got was when the debt it has on my life doing my work outweighs the financial cost of offloading. Appreciate you.

For a start up forget logos and spending time on your "team" finding a group of skilled people etc. Instead focus on one process that converts sales for your business. Once it works start increasing it by doing more of the same process. Do NOT hire a single person until that is in place. Starting any other way guarantees failure.

Sam - Although Im not in the consultancy field, I get a kick out of watching your videos for re-framing my mindset on overall business activities. A lot of what you discuss is also very relatable into ones own personal life, not just business. Have you ever thought about a branch of training that summarises a lot of these topics you discuss in your videos? Im only suggesting from the view of not being in Consultancyand being a shareholder / co-owner of a business and enjoying your business analyses/insight.. As a side-note, year 18 and your huge transition from big team to small team. Although a smart business decision for net profit, must have been difficult to say goodbye to people that helped clean up the 'mess'! Thanks for sharing the videos : )

excellent presentation! The item that appeal the most to me was step 6: 1 step back and two step forward. You're right most people have difficulty doing this because it is painful, people don't like to perceive themselves as failing, making less money, etc, but you have already said this in past videos 'if you don't make a sacrifice, its your dream that will be sacrificed.' Looking forward to your next video.

I have a course that I sell for a fixed price but most people in my niche have subscription-based products. In contrast, Sam grew succesful from being an employee at Vodafone without specialized knowledge of anything, so Sam knows exactly how you can become successful. Great video again, Sam :) Here's an idea for something to share - when you are starting up (which may take up a lot of time, even years, before you get to something), how much do you share with family/friends/etc.? I know its best to keep what is not ready to yourself (e.g. your product/funnel/contact list or whatever), as otherwise you're asking for gratification for something that doesn't exist, but on the other hand you do need some support and advice, maybe not on the business itself ( you got the CA for that lol ), but for other aspects? I am leaning towards not sharing anything till' you're at least a bit successful on the market, but i think it might be an interesting point.

Random question: When starting a business does it make sense to start with a broader niche just with specific client requirements (geographic, company size, business model, etc.) then niche down to a sub-culture after you see which one you can get the best results for with the least amount of sacrifice?

(Not really video related but) What about building a successful business based on only being able to provide services? I just turned 20 and I’m a massage therapist. I need direction on how to build clientele & how to market correctly to bring in business.

Sam, please make a video on managing your work time, how you & Elon do so much in so little time.
Work tries to take up more time than needed and I manage to do very little at the end of the day.

FOCUS 90% of your time on what brings in the most profit the repetitive action that is the anchor. You can then start to hire and delegate with more revenue. If you can work on your business instead of in it that is when you get a lot done in the same time frame

I thought that was a great point about ambitious or hard working people that can’t take steps back or do less for a while to then set into place new changes and pivot for the future (instead of training 80 hour work weeks at what they’ve been doing and continuing to do only that work) ...
I’d always look at those people and feel like man they’re hard working compared to me and feel guilty and like they’d get work done that I wouldn’t ... bu results would speak for themselves if the right smart works were being done It would show and often I’d make progress more than the people working insanely hard but not changing their approach over time

Great content as always. I will have to say that it always feels like you are not looking at me directly. Maybe you look at the cameras screen instead of the lens? Direct eye contact would make these videos even more enjoyable.
