The most threatening/fascinating/interesting thing about Detroit to me is how you can be in a decrepit, abandoned, lonesome, dead looking neighborhood, turn a corner and it’s vibing with people. Go down another block and you’re all alone.
@@ihatemath2770 It's been many years since I've lived in Detroit, but I've heard that yes, there is a large population of Chaldeans. As far as traveling to Detroit, why would you want to? The waterfront area downtown is safe, as are the areas near Comerica Park, Ford Field, etc., but the out-lying areas are not.
I've always been fascinated with the streets of Detroit. Used to cruise around the dark places, like Cass Corridor, 8 mile, woodward back in the mid 80s. Didn't have a video recorder then, but if I did, I would have had lots of fascinating video.
I don't know what kind of car you drive Charlie but, that thing needs to go to the Automobile Museum of America. 3 million miles in America's worst hood with no bullet holes. Amazing. You should get some kind of award too. You've driven ALOT of miles, bro.

As a lifelong resident of Detroit, the city is most dangerous during the hot summer months. You are rolling around during the cold winter months. The most violent neighborhoods in Detroit are tamed by the cold weather. Do a video during the hot summer months.

Kinda random but I find it weird how in America it seems less common to have a fence around your house. Is it awkward when you have a backyard gathering and the neighbours can literally walk over ?
Most of America is very underdeveloped like that. Their houses are often extremely fragile and get knocked away by even weak storms. Even their powerline poles are all made of wood and snap often. I wouldn't want to have to live in such a nasty country. It's more comparable to a third world country than any civilised country.

When it comes to hood areas in the Midwest and the Northeast we don't glorify it like they do down south. You can walk up to us and get a calm and rational conversation.
I knew a girl and her friend who had to drive through Detroit , and a couple of black guys were flirting with the girls when they pulled up beside them at a light. The girls were nervous and didn’t respond.the two guys didn’t like they the girls didn’t respond to their flirting and fired two billets into the girls car. Fortunately the girls had no injuries but they were so shaken up
Charlie if you are still in Detroit my grandma house is there could you tour around it? She passed Yearsss back and now it does not look the same it’s now a crack house but I would like to see the street of the house I was raised in
I love how for the thumbnail, you caught him mid-expression scowling, so we thought we might see a drug dealer or other trouble making guy on the street at night. But then really it was just a nice guy named Tony minding his business. I'm from Baltimore, 95 percent of city folk are just minding their business. But it isn't folklore, some downtown cities are visibly dangerous. You can hear it, and sense it in the people and unkempt atmosphere especially the folks out at night. Growing up in Baltimore was scary sometimes, I remember hearing gunshots too close and too often for comfort, I won't give some exaggerated figure, all I know is to hear gunshots on any noticeably regular basis where you live isn't something you'll experience just anywhere. That's why curfews and such. I live in Orem Utah now, in 6 years haven't heard a gun. But Orem culture is monotone, most people are cut from the same cloth. No offense, sweet people 1 on 1, but get them in groups and they're all named Jordan and MacKenzie. Lol.

I worked in Detroit once many years ago and the business owner made me park my car in their garage, saying otherwise it might not be there when i got out
The unfortunate part is this there are 100 to one of this guy in the hood in Detroit and every other “Hood” and Detroit is rough I go there twice a week. As an outsider I would put it up against Itself. I think Memphis is a scary place and I grew up in Miami in the 80’s. Memphis is more active. Haven’t felt danger yet in Detroit, but don’t be a white bread walking through there as if you’re safe because you need street smarts of course. This dude in the video is actually why I love Detroit. The realest people live there.

Me, my gf and her family went to the Eloise asylum because they turned it into a haunted house and it was dope. My girlfriend had to use the bathroom and I didn't really know the area too well and at 00:20 we pulled into that same gas station. We parked right next to the door and both walked in and honestly I grew up in Michigan all my life and everyone knows about Detroit. But it hits you when you walk into the gas station and everyone looks at you and 100% knows your not from there. They give you the look of y'all better hurry up and get outta here or you and your lady won't leave here tonight. Its crazy. As soon as they gave me those looks we immediately turned around and I told her she could hold it for the ride home. Then the drive home was interesting, like it just shocked me that you could just look and tell your surroundings aren't as safe as you once thought with something as simple as people giving their looks. You'll know your in Detroit when you get that feeling.

Kinda weird like that, I had a buddy who lived on a street of all ex cops. The rule was basically do not stray more than 2 blocks east or west.

One of the best decisions I've ever made in my life was going into the Marine Corps 40 years ago so I could escape that sewer Detroit. Good riddance.
