Ram air intakes don't work on cars or motorcycles, they don't create boost. Theoretically, you could achieve a fraction of a pound of boost going close to 300mph. But in most applications, like in the Hayabusa, the intake is located in a high-airspeed zone. Bernoulli's Principle tells us that this creates a low pressure, so the ram air ducts offer lower performance than a typical under seat intake. But, they look cool...
If it’s between the engineering team at suzuki and this one guy on the internet with the free time to leave long comments, Ima have to say your wrong chief.
A forward-facing intake can indeed convert high air velocity into extra power, The problem for street bikes is the gain from ram air at 160 mph, (rarely attained on the street) is only around 3 percent, this indicates that for older production bikes this is more fashion than function, but it also provides cooler, denser air into the airbox which is beneficial to efficiency. Modern ram air ducts are mounted centrally, copying Moto GP practise, where the air pressure is highest, and routed through the steering head. Early twin ram air intakes like the Hayabusa's were mounted either side were the air pressure is lower, as a way to get around the issue of routing the air through the headstock.

Also I appreciate the Monty Python reference.
I remember when my dad got an 07 Hayabusa and I was literally terrified to get on it with him. He said he hit 210 on it before and my mom yelled at him for it lol. Also these are heavy as hell, my dad was 5'10 and maybe 230 and strong as hell but he always had trouble trying to wheelie it or even get it on a bike stand
@Ninja ZX-12R lol... calling it like you see it.
@Ninja ZX-12R prolly kmph, that'd be about 124 mph
Nelson Lee he said his dad is 5’10 (imperial measure) so I doubt its kilometers
@@Novicearms feet and inches is how most people around the world measure either way... not many people say "oh hes 180 cm"
@Ninja ZX-12R my dad's bike was not stock in the slightest, although I have no clue what he did to it as I was 13, but it was definitely capable of hitting 210 in a straight line

James, I believe you’re pronouncing ‘Horse Power’ incorrectly.
It should be said ‘Hrs Prr’
Ken Deater my good sir you'll find it is infact "hurrrs purrrrs" good day.
Its actually hursse pursse
just got off the phone with Martian Webster, she told me to tell you it’s said like “hhrs pehrs”

Until the ZX14 came out to kill the bussa bois
Fan fact:
The "busa" engine can feat perfectly in first generation smart for two , basically their engine mounts are almost identical
I designed it that way.

Maybe try some of the stuff on my page in the meantime?
I retired from designing things but there are A still few of my vehicles in the pipeline. My last vehicle design should remain A mystery so the price isn't artificially inflated.
@@787brx8 wow that's cool, i would really like to have a link on this , by the way a friend of mine was always insisted that smart for two was meant to have the bussa engine in the first place .. but somehow didn't went to production
When you said it was named for a bird that eats other birds my first thought was, "Damn, Peregrine would be a cool name for motorcycle.", and then it all became clear a few minutes later.
I just finished Ford V Ferrari for the second time and I cried at the ending in front of my mom. I am still crying a whole lot. This is one of the only things in entertainment that has done this to me. I guess seeing Matt Damon cry for his friend and the car world just breaks me.
My buddy in high school had one of these, couldn’t believe how comfortable and maneuverable it was. Stupid fast, wanted one ever since.
I think it's funny how people calm down once they see my busa. I also love how this bike strikes fear in the hearts of others. You never know if it's stock or built.
The more you know!
If it’s between the engineering team at suzuki and this one guy on the internet with the free time to leave long comments, Ima have to say your wrong chief.
@@altarancho he is right about ram air intakes not really working at motoring speeds, dunno about reduced performance tho
I'm on my second Hayabusa. Started with an "06 then a second gen 2011 bought it new. I never drink energy drinks NOS, never have, never will . Still own and ride my black machine.10.3 at the strip, I was proud of that. Good luck with this thread.....
