    Bought the mini somewhere in october, and till this day happy with the purchase. Yeah, there are some cons to it, like storage capacity, the screen, the screen scaling, but besides that, its the best home tablet for the money. Compact, good for reading books, comics, manga or everything you want. Battery is quite good, and the jelly scroll effect, not so noticeable, and easy to forget. Media consumption on it is just a pure joy, youtube, netflix, Crunchyroll, and so many other things you can watch on it, and not get tired of carrying aroung this tablet. The ability to use apple pencil 2 are a cool addition for those who like to draw or keeping notes, even tho its 60 Hz, it can be enough sometimes. The sound is very decent. In other ways, if you dont look for a big tablet, and wont use an external keyboard, the mini 6 is your pal. Hope this helps someone!

      Totally agree. First iPad I’ve ever owned that I actually use and I use it regularly. My laptop has started becoming a professional tool rather than a entertainment device. I hope they improve the screen quality and brightness on the 7 and I’ll be set
      My older iPads big screen made them too big to carry around when my laptop is the same size and better

      I've had the iPad mini 6 for a month now. I don't miss the bigger iPads unless I have to use spreadsheets for which I usually use on the laptop.
      It's the size and form factor which makes the mini the ideal size. For everyday carry, it's just the right size. I use it mainl for reading medical journals and textbou, occasionally answering emails and taking notes with the Pencil 2. With the pencil 2, you don't really need a keyboard, unless you're doing some heavy typing for which I'd use my laptop. So, it's not a laptop replacement but it compliments the laptop in a way the HP cannot.
      Better than a Samsung Z fold phone which is too expensive and "neither here nor there".

    I like my mini a lot, biggest gripes are the storage options not having a 128gb version, the software scaling on the Home Screen being too small, and just the screen technology in general not being super great. But the form factor is right for me.

      @@hayleyharrison5127 iPad OS is great! What you talking about? I would hate having Mac OS on my iPad. It’s not for that type of use. Just plug in side car, and tap away in Mac OS with it exclusively. Try using it without a keyboard or mouse, as the device is touch input first. It’s a nightmare experience. If you want final cut to work on iPad it needs a full redesign, and at that point you have lumafusion. Apps designed around the form factor work best. And that would be same for the OS. The files app could be re engineered a bit better, but it’s not THAT bad. I would like an extra USB port and a headphone Jack. But that’s hardware wishes.

    • @sloppynyuszi

      @@Jangmo88 what specifically are you missing? Multitasking? Most people have a 11” iPad or smaller. And even at 12.9” that’s not a large screen when it comes to having a lot of apps open.
      On the iPad the only time I have two apps open is when chucking files between them.
      Once you buy an iPad and a keyboard as your primary set up. You don’t want a tablet. That’s totally awesome, get an ultra book :)
      Personally I think the iPad OS is great, I don’t know what else is missing so much? Most complaints about it I see is people wanting it to be a laptop, and there already is plenty of those.
      The scaling stuff I agree with, but honestly hasn’t bothered me as much as I thought it would. I also agree with the storage options. I can understand the Air as they have to justify the iPad Pro entry level to exist, but the mini should have started with 128gb.

    I have an ipad air 4 & the mini 6 sharing one apple pencil and I love both of them for different uses! My ipad air 4 is mainly docked on the magic keyboard and the mini 6 stays by my nightstand to be used at home to consume content and I’m loving the smaller form factor without it being too big and heavy to hold in the hand for extended periods of time. Also I almost never leave home without either of my ipads now depending on how big of a bag I want to carry, and the apple ecosystem makes my experience so much smoother with the ability to instantly switch between devices while doing concurrent tasks. I have both of them in 64gb and 2TB icloud storage and everything syncs up nicely, no issues with the lack of storage options.
    One really cool feature you should try when using the ipad at night, apart from the grayscale is Reduce White Point. Mimics the Kindle and makes it easy on the eyes at night before bed!

    I bought the mini as my secondary sketch tablet. I get all my ideas and brainstorming on that. Sometimes I’ll take it through to finished product. I just like carrying it around a lot more than the pro. It’s small, powerful and the apps run great. Once I hit layer limit in an app, I just air drop it onto my iPad Pro.
    The 120hz thing is a ridiculous complaint though. Especially for content consumption. Movies and TV shows usually range from 24-30 fps with the rare 60fps. The fact that the footage is rarely different to 1080p or 4k it means that these tablets don’t even have accurate pixel representation so things are morphed. The image is so sharp no one sees it, just like 120hz in these instances.
    HDR is different, and that’s a fair complaint, but unless you a competitive gamer, 120hz makes no sense. And not sure what game are you playing competitively on an iPad. And if you need more than 60fps for scrolling through IG, tiktok or your home page icons. Either you have a crazy privileged life of luxury for this to be an issue, or your priorities are weird.
    I switch between the iPad Pro and my Cintiq (which is 60hz) and honestly the latency between the two is a non issue. I remember when I had the iPhone 11 Pro, couldn’t see the refresh rate difference between that and my Pro let alone have it be jarring.
    This complaint is just a lack of imagination, and people reading spec sheets for reviews instead of experiencing. I’m 100% sure people have failed the blind test on this, as a lot of apps just don’t support this. So they watching 60fps content on their 120hz screen thinking it’s 120hz.

    • @danieldev514
      @danieldev514 2 роки тому +1

      If the difference is not big for you doesnt mean its not big for everyone. I had to return the mini due to lack of promotion becouse it was just a bad experience. Nothing to do with gaming, I dont think casino mobile games can be competetive lol

    • @6MonthsLater
      @6MonthsLater  2 роки тому +8

      120 hz complaint for promotion is only about scrolling throughout the UI (for movies and other things as you said, it doesn’t make a difference). Once you get used to it on a lot of Apple devices (especially ones that are mobile) you kinda want it on everything. That’s the point I was trying to make - Josh

    • @sloppynyuszi
      @sloppynyuszi 2 роки тому +1

      @@danieldev514 I animate and draw for a living, because of that I have to pixel peep and frame count. The kind of attention you need to pay to notice these things is really unhealthy. As I said apple promotion screens are adaptive, which means most of the times you use it it’s not running at 120hz anyway.
      The jelly scrolling is a lot bigger issue than the 120hz. And the wobble happens if you hold it in landscape too, you just need to swipe left and right to see it, not up and down as reviewers test. I knew that going in, played with it in the store and didn’t think it was a big problem for me for what I was using it for, but I can understand that issue a lot more than the refresh rate. I like my iPad mini, but if there are things to complain about it, there are a few other things I would rate higher than the refresh rate. But at the end of the day, you buy what cheers you up, and works for you.

    • @sloppynyuszi
      @sloppynyuszi 2 роки тому

      @@6MonthsLater it’s just a pet peeve of mine, because I thought I was a screen snob until I got my 2nd gen iPad Pro back in the day. It wasn’t the reason I bought it, but it was such a big buzz I wanted to see it. I failed to see what the screen fuss was all about. I had to pay super a lot of attention to it to see it. Made zero difference in daily use. And so many years later people make an issue of it, and it’s just tech UA-camrs.
      I just think tech reviewers make too much of an issue about it, when for me a device needs to push other stuff first.
      A device must be crazy perfect if UI scrolling at 60fps doesn’t seem smooth.
      I rather reviewers stop focusing on that, and just keep complaining about features manufacturers take out. Like headphone Jack and memory card slots. Samsung made water resistant phones with these in so no excuses. Also I rather see manufacturers challenge each other with battery endurance. You can never have your battery last too long. I don’t like folding phones, but love the effort. So much more interesting things in tech than refresh rate on screens, it’s just a number that’s easy to say, but doesn’t do much.

      you can actually change the 120hz of an ipad pro to 60hz, there's that option on settings, I do it sometimes when the battery is close do dead... it's a big difference... if you can't see it... well... Since everything is going digital I feel that transferring my notes and annotations to digital version will not only save me money yearly on school supplies but also to save tree’s by reducing my paper use for school. I think the iPad mini sounds like a great option for what I’m looking for since it’s not to big like a pro which means traveling with it in my school bag since it does weights a lot.

If you are being active while travelling, buy don’t want to leave valuables at your accommodations, the 11’’ can seem a bit bulky. I don’t mind the touch id vs Face ID tbh, as it works quite well and on two fingers. One thing I would like to see is more ability to customize the icons on the Home Screen and dock - with the smaller screen, these can get unreasonably small depending on how many apps you have going

    I use my iPad Mini for translating movie scripts from Italian into English.
    A job comes in, the producer wants it "yesterday"... so high productivity is of the essence.
    If this is true (and it is) why on earth would I use an iPad Mini?
    Simple... inputting (thumbing) on the comfortable 8" virtual keyboard (with auto correction on), while not beating touch-typing is very fast.
    Looking up words - reference tools - (regular dictionaries, language dictionaries, Wikipedia's and suchlike) is actually snappier than what's normal on a computer.
    Now look at the process of translation and you will see it is EDITING INTENSIVE.
    You read a stretch of the original, tap in the new and delete the old and then move on to the next stretch and so on and so forth until reaching the end.
    Did you know that all editing operations requiring deletion (which is at the heart of editing) are, thanks to a method call CONNECTIVE EDITING, actually MUCH MUCH MUCH FASTER than what's normal on a computer?
    The need for an external keyboard is absurd.
    That's like saying you need a table to use your smartphone.
    The real alternation is sit-on-your-butt at a keyboard AND (not versus, but AND) whip it outta your pocket/bag/pouch, instant on, work anywhere / any time and MOST IMPORTANTLY in any position, even lying down, feet up, slouched, standing in a queue, sitting in a car, gently strolling.
    Then with the wonders of Markdown (or in my case "Fountain" markup language for movie scripts), I can jockey my work back and forth from computer to device and device to computer.
    Another device with a keyboard (tying one to chair and table) is redundancy department of redundancy department.
    The real duality, as stated above is chair and table AND (not versus but AND) freeeeeee!

      @@bc_usa yes. It means that the mini is an extraordinary PORTABLE writing tool, that can free long form writers (novelists, screenwriters, translators, scholars, etc. etc.) from having to be seated at a desk.
      Now (via a very shallow learning curve) they can be fantastically productive slouched, lying down, standing, sitting in a car, strolling. There is no other product like it.
      Writing fast (thumbing 8" keyboard)
      Editing faster than computer.
      Formatting fast (markdown)
      Reference look-ups FASTER than computer.
      Cloud (Dropbox and others) allows for seamless jockeying back and forth from device to computer / computer device.

Does iPad OS have a multi user mode so when my kid has it there's only one app available and when I have it it has everything else? Or is that something found in another tablet? No multi user (that's been a complaint of families and couples against iOS/iPadOS for a long time and totally justified). For kids, my general advice would be get an indestructible case for it just in case something happens. I think in general it's a good product, Apple has really cornered the tablet market with their devices and app ecosystem. But you might want to get something with multi user if that's really important to you.

    You just plug any SanDisk Flash Drive with Type C port...You can use that as an external storage size you need. As they make an Application just for that..
    And I loathe Face ID. Wish they would use the same dual touch button the iPad Mini 6 uses..As you can use left or right hand now to unlock it..

    Love my mini. Use it for consumption and appreciate the Touch ID. Far superior to Face ID which is wonky both on my phone and IPad Pro and problematic in many positions requiring manual input which is totally frustrating. Dislike the battery life and scaling on it. But love its portability

    I'm thinking of getting the mini instead of upgrading my phone to the fold 3. I don't care to have a folding phone for 2000 dollars if I could have a slightly bigger iPad in comparison for only 500 dollars.
    I don't understand companies' interest in having laptop replacement tablets. It feels like sitting in the front row at the movie theater. Why do we need a screen that big if we have it so close to our faces? It makes my eyes tired due to the constant movement. But if I place the tablet far enough away then why don't I just use my laptop which stands up on its own and has better specs?
    I feel like the only reason there is a market for phablets is because companies do not take into consideration that people want tablets that are mini, around 6 inches. It's too bad that I could only find one or two tablets in this size range. I have been a fan of the mini since the 4 and I hope Apple is not planning to get rid of the iPad mini line like they are with the iPod touch.

    Does the Surface Go 3 have anything on the iPad Mini? It seems too good to be true that the Go 3 is able to be quick enough to be a viable tablet at it's price point. But Apple has managed to do it. Any opinions y'all have on comparable Android or Windows tablets?

      You’ll need to get the M3 higher spec Surface Go for it to be useful. All reviews say the entry model is too laggy. And also size wise it’s the iPad Air 4. The iPad mini is considerably smaller.

    I'd love me an iPad Mini for reading and UA-cam watching. But the problem is the price. For more than 500€ it is just not a casual buy. Everything under 200€ would be appropriate for these use cases.
    So we need an iPad Mini with low end to mid specs at an affordable price

    I had a 10th gen iPad ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
