The size of the iPad Mini is SO much more appealing (to me) than the larger iPad variants. Having something much *compact* makes it a MUCH more appealing product. Love your videos! 👌🏻
@CGGS_Gaming I've verified and it's due to iPad mini's controller board being in a different orientation, which makes it more noticeable but it's not unique to the iPad mini. As you said it happens on other displays, it's just not as noticeable. It can also be remedied by waiting for vertical sync.
I can totally see people using this as a phone and tablet replacement, _the iPhone Max Note Ultra._ For someone like me who rarely takes photos, gets calls via earbuds, prefers to video chat more, reads frequently and coming from an old Galaxy Note to IOS, the iPad Mini 6 is the perfect phablet. For $780 you're getting USB-C, no Notch, better Speakers, iPadOS 15's multitasking, stylus, charger out of the box, and big Battery - compared to iPhone. Sounds like a really good deal to me as long as you have deep enough pockets.
My first iOS device was a Gen 1 iPad Mini I got for school when I was 11. I loved that thing to bits. When I started trainspotting at 13 I soon found the Save As PDF feature in Safari, so I could look up train times and save them out, rather than hoping I kept that tab in memory. I got an iPad 5 to replace it, and feelings were mixed. Faster and more responsive, the 9.7" screen was beautiful- the iPad Mini G1 was pre-Retina- but it was cumbersome in the military-grade cases my school made us put it in. Since I got a Surface Pro 6, I've been yearning for that smaller tablet experience again, and the build quality problems I've had with both my Pro 6 tablets, and both their type covers combined with the new Mini being everything I hoped it would be might just push me back once and for all.
I love the iPad Mini for reading in bed, for surfing during holidays on the beach and for watching movies in the train when I'm out for work. And the kids use it for school. We have the iPad Mini 2 and will soon get the 6th gen.
Small tablets are the best! I think a side by side shot of a Fold and a Mini would have gone a long way, can't believe there wasn't one? For me even the base iPad feels too heavy to pick up and hold for awhile. I've had 2 Minis, a Nexus 7, Fire HD10 (big but light) and now a super cheap Lenovo Tab M8. I wish there was a modern Nexus 7 for Android users.
I've been consuming a lot of content about the mini since I got it, and this is one of the few vids I've listened through to its entirety. Love this style of review. Feels real dapper lol.
So grateful for this and all your reviews. It's fun to hear someone echo the thoughts in my head when it comes to compact devices and their propensity to encourage purchase through usage cases that we often like to think we will utilize but rarely do!
Great review Michael! Loving my iPad mini so far, it’s not perfect but as you say this size is a delight to use for so many reasons. Cheers from Hong Kong! 🍻
Reviews like this one are what makes you one of my all time favorite phone and tech reviewers. Some other tech reviewers are just so jaded that all they do is complain about the features they don’t get with such glaring biases it’s annoying. On the device itself, if they probably had started at 128Gb instead of 64Gb of storage then the entry price would have been more budget friendly. I do hope they change the home screen layout to scale the icons and widgets nearer to the bezel in a future software update. On that note, I’m definitely getting one. 😄
Jelly scrolling is only an issue in portrait mode so if you use it mainly in landscape its fine, but even then its a pretty bad screen for a pretty expensive niche tablet
I watch because you do it. The stringent policies of apple is also one of many reasons why I never liked apple products, not because they are not good but its like walking into spider's web, you cant repair it anywhere but from apple stores, as per many reviewers comments it is learnt that apple has made iPhone 13 pro max interior is unrepairable by any third party even if the part replaced is original apple. Sorry for digressing from the point, so I watch almost all of your videos just because you do it with your inimitable style, finesse and a bit of Star Wars aficionado in you all in all makes quite a pleasant experience. Thank you for that, for every single upload of yours .
Thanks for the realistic and pragmatic review. I did buy one and while it was a bit expensive, this iPad travels so well. Way easier to read on this vs my iPhone.
Mine went back today. Playing PUBG, I noticed some spots in display where I pushed the buttons. I will get it again, just waiting till the quality is better. Guy at the Apple store said he would’ve returned it too.
5:02 You haven't noticed the jelly scrolling because here you're using the iPad in landscape orientation instead of portrait. In portrait orientation, the screen refreshes from right to left which makes the jelly scrolling very noticeable. Landscape orientation negates the jelly scrolling from being visible.
What a perfect review...so well produced and presented! I love the 8" form factor. I've had the 8" Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, with a Super Amoled screenfor years. For my purposes it's fine...now I believe they're on the S7. My previous tablet was a 9.7" IPad Air. It was way too big and cumbersome. 8" is the perfect form factor...especially if you read Kindle books or surf.
This video is so good that it makes me want to get that iPad Mini although I don’t need it (I’ve already got iPad Air 2019 that I’m planning to use for 5 more years or longer).
I am actually thinking of scaling down my android phone to a smaller more pocket friendly one and getting a smaller tablet for anything else. This might do the trick.
I've had a bunch of iPads over the years. Most recently had a 2018 11 inch iPad Pro. While I loved it, it became mostly redundant when I got a secondary display for my Mac and didn't particularly like its size for the mostly around the house uses I had in mind for an iPad. So after two years, I sold it. A few months later, this new iPad mini comes along, and it's honestly exactly what I could use my old Pro for comfortably. Pretty sure I'll be picking one of these up shortly...

5:00 Sure you won't notice the jelly scrolling in landscape mode, cuz the display's driver is at the bottom. Try in portrait mode and you'll easily be able to notice it! 6:50 Oh and the iPad mini doesn't have quad speakers, yes only stereo.
Ahhhh finally another Mr. Mobile fix. The top of the mountain for any and all tech reviews. If the Mini had a 120, I’d be all over it. I tried one out and it was just too apparent to me. Oh well. Next year? 🤔
I love the mini, the jelly scrolling doesnt really bother me, but I can understand why other people do. Best Streaming, Manga/Book reader, old school emulator.
I’ve always gotten iPad Minis, and if only I didn’t buy the iPad Air for design school, I’d absolutely buy the Mini hands down for the sheer convenience it provides. 💜
If only my phone's screen didn't break earlier this year, I would've got this. The wifi 256GB model iPad Minj is just the perfect combination of size, power and versatility. Hoping to get this once I've saved up enough
Its the perfect size. The only reason i'd ever use a tablet would be to keep it on the cough table and grab it for reading newspapers and magazines on Apple News and such and watching videos. Great video!
I'm still glad that I bought a 11" Pro a few months ago, but a part of me would really prefer a smaller size for some tasks. But 64gb is next to nothing nowadays. I hope they’ll give us a 128gb option in the future.
Apple has had me over a barrel this year. I replaced my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 with a 2021 and then decided to sell it and to downsize to the 11” 2021 iPad Pro about a month after WWDC. I was just too salty about the lack of new features in iPadOS to keep something as big as my MacBook Pro and not have it do near as much. Now since I have seen this new iPad Mini it makes more sense as my expensive iPad Pro is nothing more than a secondary device used for little more than gaming and media consumption most of the time. I can get work done on my iPad Pro but its just as easy to get out the MacBook when I need to. The iPad Mini is more of a true tablet experience than ever.
Here’s a combo that may be worthy of experiment because its potentially better than a foldable: iPad mini + Lemfo LEM15 + bluetooth headset. This combo provides a large screen when needed and ultra portability at all other times. The watch handles the tasks of phone calls, notifications and fitness tracking. The tablet handles all the tasks of a smartphone except phone calls.
I can say one thing about the new iPads (Mini, Normal, and Pro models) that I think Apple needs to fix and its something that I agree with you, Michael. There is SO MUCH wasted space on the home screen. For someone that recommends bigger tablets for the Older Generation, Apple's implementation of Accessibility has been lacking. When you deliberately increase app sizes as well as text size, it doesn't take advantage of the extra space on the home screen and I have been told that can (and for some has) impact the way they use their iPad and they can't use it the way they did their older iPad (Mainly the ones before iPadOS). This has been a major turn off for quite a few people that would like to upgrade their aging iPad.
This iPad Mini Review video looks incredible on the Galaxy S20, and even better on the Tab S7 when I get home to watch again... I do apologize for rude interruption; please do continue.
2:58 I'm using the Logitech K380 right now... 3 years and still with original AAA regular batteries and never experienced problems with repeated keys. I used this keyboard with an iPad that was stolen from me, my phone and my laptop (it handle 3 separated devices) and works flawlessly.
Loving this Mini iPad. It’s great. Dumped my Z Fold 2. Android apps still suck at that size and I never found use for multiple small windows. I use Dex on my S21U when needed.
3:35 exactly my gripe with the new iPhones too. Biggest reason I’m not upgrading. Punching in codes in 2021 when out & about is gut wrenchingly frustrating!
The size just looks heavenly. The price to storage ratio looks like hell

So after two years, I sold it. A few months later, this new iPad mini comes along, and it's honestly exactly what I could use my old Pro for comfortably. Pretty sure I'll be picking one of these up shortly...
60hz though 😐😐
@@feuerherz007 I had a OnePlus 8 Pro, then switched back to an iPhone 12. 120Hz is definitely nice, but not a deal-breaker for me.
@@BenLomonRail you may be light user hmm.. or one of those people who dont care about display, sound quality etc.. Maybe that can feel free 😂😐 but i could never go back.. even in Wild rift its a huge difference
@@feuerherz007 Oh don’t get me wrong, 120hz is wonderful. I’ll probably have it next year with iPhone 14. But it’s not a usability dealbreaker for me. Not while my other screens aren’t all refreshing at that frequency.
@@BenLomonRail funny how iphone 11 didnt have 120hz and only 13 pro has it 💀 apple is really not good.. status symbol only 💀💀 but fan boys will accept
I think Mr. Mobile is best tech UA-cam reviewer on the circuit now! I wish more reviewers were as fair and unbiased as he is! Thank you, Mr. Mobile! You definitely have a fan and a subscriber!
5:00 Sure you won't notice the jelly scrolling in landscape mode, cuz the display's driver is at the bottom.
Try in portrait mode and you'll easily be able to notice it!
6:50 Oh and the iPad mini doesn't have quad speakers, yes only stereo.
Can you say where you got the Star Trek LCARS app from?
I've never been early enough for a premier video before. Never knew this was a feature on UA-cam.
This guy makes the best tech reviews. Period.
Ahhhh finally another Mr. Mobile fix. The top of the mountain for any and all tech reviews. If the Mini had a 120, I’d be all over it. I tried one out and it was just too apparent to me. Oh well. Next year? 🤔
Maybe even 90hz would've done the trick
Not as good as 120 and creating that distinction
But better than 60 👀
@@gauravgalande2559 i think there are very few 90hz tablet screens.. Since samsung tablets and other companys alls have 120hz and the rest 60
I wish I had an eye like y’all. I have never been able to tell the difference in that area.
I love the mini, the jelly scrolling doesnt really bother me, but I can understand why other people do. Best Streaming, Manga/Book reader, old school emulator.
My 500gig WiFi only iPad mini (2019) was only £450. But that’s U.K. prices. And I LOVE it
Me too.fabulous little metalmind
For my next combo, I'm considering getting the iPhone Mini and iPad Mini. Tired of carrying around larger devices.
Enjoying my iPad Mini, and I only wish it had a higher fresh rate like my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
I’ve always gotten iPad Minis, and if only I didn’t buy the iPad Air for design school, I’d absolutely buy the Mini hands down for the sheer convenience it provides. 💜
Just finished watching your review. I always love your opinions. The base model Wi-Fi onlyiPad Mini should be a $100 cheaper.
If only my phone's screen didn't break earlier this year, I would've got this. The wifi 256GB model iPad Minj is just the perfect combination of size, power and versatility. Hoping to get this once I've saved up enough
Your reviews are just so classy and well balanced. Brilliant vid.
I can see the iPad mini becoming the first foldable from Apple.
Maybe in 5 years. With samsung screen lol
foldable in 1 direction. you can fold it but it doesn't unfold any more.
The intro talk felt like a personal attack 🤣My thoughts for every purchase, just like my new GT2 pro watch :P
Its the perfect size. The only reason i'd ever use a tablet would be to keep it on the cough table and grab it for reading newspapers and magazines on Apple News and such and watching videos. Great video!
His reviews are so realistic. Love them! Keep up the good work. Imagine the day apple make a folding phone. Would you jump ship?
Always a delightful video to watch! It’s like a tech video combined with fine poetry! Highly appreciated! Greetings from China!
I'm still glad that I bought a 11" Pro a few months ago, but a part of me would really prefer a smaller size for some tasks.
But 64gb is next to nothing nowadays.
I hope they’ll give us a 128gb option in the future.
what's that Star Trek LCARS app you are using there?
I can’t believe I finally saw someone showing this exact combo with a folio case!
One of the things I enjoy more than my iPhone and iPad....is a review video from you. About anything.
It was when you said "iPads mini" that I realised why I so need your videos.
I just traded in my old mini for the new one. This is the perfect on-the-go size.
I have watched at least 15 reviews of the ipad mini 6. This is by far the best one. Well done!!
Always Love and look for your videos Michael
I have never seen a Mystery Science Theater reference. It was beautiful.
I subbed instantly
This is really great to watch. Your videos are always top notch. Highly appreciate the effort
well, a good reason to find a way to get the fold 3 with a payment plan of the carrier
video liked Mr.
I like the mini, however the price is absurd.
Wish they offered a version without pencil support (for example), for cheaper.
Michael Fisher aka Mr Mobile aka the king of end credits disclaimers 😂 please never change Michael
You will soon become No. 1 tech reviewer. Take my words.
Bought fold 2 because of you, thank you 😂
I never knew how much I needed 4k60 content in my life until I watched this video. It looks so good😍
Awesome Michael! I've been waiting for your official take on this!
This iPad Mini Review video looks incredible on the Galaxy S20, and even better on the Tab S7 when I get home to watch again...
I do apologize for rude interruption; please do continue.
at this point they need to focus more on things like widgets than stand alone apps for productivity purposes.
What is the name of the background music at the end?
That double speak at 2:57 was so good that I thought something was wrong with device 😆
"Doesn't need accessories to prop it up." Except for a literal kickstand...
"prop up" was a metaphor in that sentence

@@shawncouch2243 that was a joke? damn I laughed so hard :l
If I hadn't already bought the 2021 Pro, I'd seriously be considering this. Great job on this one, Apple.
3:35 exactly my gripe with the new iPhones too. Biggest reason I’m not upgrading. Punching in codes in 2021 when out & about is gut wrenchingly frustrating!
What battleship game is he playing at 1:20
The absolute BEST thing about the iPad Mini 6 is the new aspect ratio which is WAY BETTER than every other 4:3 iPad for video consumption.
Awesome review. I’ve had my old iPhone 7, but this year I got the iPad 6 with the regular iPhone 13 and can’t be happier that I did.
How do you have the all time favorite INBOX app on your iPad Pro? @ 8:28 I thought that app is dead??
Narration and flow and form of script 10/10!
6:23 May someone please tell me what game he was playing?
