Stevie was _only_ 23 yet he was creating five timeless and _classic_ masterpieces within a five-year span. And those five _classic_ albums are a must have.
In no particular order: Talking Book; Fulfillingness First Finale; Innervisions; Music of my Mind; Songs in the key of Life. If you don't own these or have not listened to them then you ain't fully human!
And he was SO crazy busy for an individual that young, even back then.
When you think of age 23, a carefree spirited fun-lovin' kid is what your mind's eye sees.

Yes he does have a lot of unreleased music..someone is putting a lot of it on UA-cam. Some song's he only played them live..he did a slow version of i was made to love her. I was blown away like wow! This man is a musical genius...i love stevie...
There is a spot during an interview with Margueloff and Cecil, at which one of them says that during that '72 - '75 period they made "well in excess of..." 250 songs. From those 4 albums there was roughly 50 songs. Easily 200 songs unused. There were also comments from his own band members speaking about recordings for Songs In The Key Of Life, that they all knew "what was in the can". Which I took to mean material that they did not use. They stated this in the context that the good material that was ON the record. So the idea that they thought there were things that were BETTER?!? We'll most likely never get to see those hit the light of day.
For anyone who grew up in the 60's and 70's you will know the effect this music had on our generation. When I heard Stevie Wonder for the first time I couldn't believe what I was hearing. To say I couldn't get to the record shop fast enough is an understatement. His music profoundly changed my life. It would, and could never go back to a world where what he created didn't exist. Innervisions changed everything for me and all of the people I grew up with. To say Innervisions and Talking book were masterpieces would be to not understand the message they portrayed and that was what it was to be Black and living in America in that period and to still be able to see all that is good and beautiful in this world.

There are landmark albums in everyone’s life and this was a huge one for me the year it came out all those years ago , and just relistening to it again it’s just as fresh

EARLY twenties.
Watching these cats jam with Superstition took me back to the Sesame Street performance...one of the best I've ever seen as a kid back then. I had to look up the trumpet player (Steve Madaio) and found out he passed away earlier this year from a heart attack. What I also didn't know was that he was also part of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Those of you who follow reelblack's WDIB posts will remember the one with Run DMC and The Monkees (Mary, Mary); that song was originally done by Butterfield.

Yes!! The Sesame Street performance of Superstition is probably one of the funkiest things I've heard...especially those breakdowns were just nasty!!!

Stevie has had such a profound impact on my life....i am so grateful for him sharing his gifts with us.
I once listened to a 2-hour BBC Radio program based on the hit song “Superstition” alone... it’s unbelievable how many Rock & Funk bands came up with countless versions of the song and even more “riffs” based on that funky clavinet figure. This clearly was the signature moment that Funk-Rock was born‼️
What more can you say about STEVIE.More then a genius. It brings tears to my eyes to have a person of his talent grace our earth.THE GOAT. I LOVE YOU STEVIE. 😚

The historical masterpiece Innervisions by the legendary Stevie Wonder. Young prime,talented Stevie Wonder. I got the 1973 8-track tape. Old tape,but still plays good.
This is one of stevie wonder greatest albums ..no doubt for sure I have it in my collection

This CD is one which is so wrapped around.y heart, that I've literally had the library copy forever a year.
So busy with son I forget. And then I see it and play it again.
Thankfully, our library generously empathize with old farts with a faing brain😉
I lost my copy and mus replace it.
Every song gives me goosebumps.
The times I've say with it in tears during hard times too numerous to remember.
some music just so resonates that it's healing.

Good ol stevie doin his thing! Humbled soul and musician. I do have some honest concerns though. I've had some concerns and questions about the fate and humanity of Tap Dancing in this day and age. I often wonder to myself if its still relevant or not. Because often times, the trademark artform seems to be forgotten and overlooked by many who no longer see it as a remarkable style or a monumental style of dance. Unlike what others think about it, I still am searching for answers and feedback in order to have clarity. I know this has nothing to do with stevie wonder, but I had to release some tension by spreading the word on how I feel about the state of Tap.
In the seventies, in Little Five Points,Atlanta, Ga,, was an amazing group of tap dancers called ..oh darn, senior moment.
Anyway, their motto was : " when your life is full of crap, all you gotta do is tap"

When I was a kid growing up in the 70's, I liked Stevie. But he was not one of my favorites. It wasn't until I got older and went back and really listened to his music that I fell in love. I was like, damn, Stevie was deeper than I knew when I was a kid. Now he is my favorite artist of all time. Thanks Stevie for the music. Thanks for the memories.

If you listen to Innervisions and Songs In The Key Of Life, how did Stevie respond to the ravages of Reaganomics with songs like I Just Called To Say I love You? I just don't believe that was the real Stevie Wonder. I think they replaced him with a lookalike in 1979 and I'm not joking. The voice isn't the same.

The 8th Wonder of this world immersed himself even more in the human rights movement- while putting out brilliant music in the 80s. It's not his fault if some were /still are sleeping on the listening tip to that decades catalogue. From that decade's early " Frontline" to the mid-80s " Go Home" & " It's Wrong(Apartheid)" to the late 80s " You Will Know" & " Skeletons"-his music remain on the pulse of what's happening in the world. He just was busy putting in the work through his time & money rather than talking about it. Deeds not words.
