I liked this interview, maybe because it was with someone you already know. You should do more with people you know, both locals and foreigners. There are enough bloggers doing interviews with people they don’t know, sometimes that works, often not so much.

good vid Chris. some dudes like to turn the page and take a new path. thats cool if they find what they want in the Phils. the US is a great place to work, make money, raise a family. its not a good place to retire. costs for things are high in highly developed countries. people come to the US to make their fortune. most people dont go to the Phils to make money. its a great place to have fun and enjoy life, without spending so much money. most people in the Phils would kill to get a visa and come to the US. they know they could earn WAY MORE money here than in the Phils. everybody knows that. it all depends on what you want. for older men who are now retired on less income, the Phils are great. if they feel lonely and ignored in the US, the Phils are great. Filipinas are pretty smart. they are willing to play the long game with an older expat. their lifestyle will improve dramatically because we are all "rich" compared to what they are used to. its a win-win for them and their expat

Hi Chris, I was watching Mike’s Philippine retirement videos and I saw the one that he did with you and I thought it was really good. I have been watching your videos now also because I am going to the Philippines for the first time in a couple of months. I purchased an elite visa for Thailand so that I can explore that country also. I am going to spend about two months in each country. I am thinking about living in BGC in the Philippines and Chiang Mai in Thailand and spending 6 months in each place when I move there. Your videos are great. Keep up the good work.

In September of this year I will be turning 55, and will begin drawing on a small state pension. I own my home here in Charleston, SC and would likely net a nice sum on an outright sale. I am single with no children, and am strongly considering making the same move as this gentleman here. I will have a pension and investments, along with future Social Security and could budget on average, $3500.00 US. it is comforting to hear that he is having a great singles life on less than that. Thanks so much for sharing!
Please don’t hastily sell your house to move in Ph. Try living there few months before you decide. It can be too hot or too polluted for you. Beaches are gorgeous! And one can hire a helper to do cleaning, cooking, run errands for $200/month.
This guys experience in the US is spot on. If you aren’t good looking or successful then online dating will be rough. In the PH women genuinely want companionship and dating a foreigner is usually new for most so Its good to hear of his experience. Though money will eventually matter. And if you get married, especially a women in her 20’s, you do marry their whole family. Just make sure you have some sort of income or at least a half a mil in the bank to get you to your SS as you will spend more long term. And meet lots of local Filipinos. Most of my closest friends in the PH are Filipino and I have really experienced more than I could have only hanging out with other foreigners. 38th Park Ave is a nice building. And rainy season isn’t here yet. You are here during the best time of year. Enjoy and good luck!
The money does matter but I'd say it's more about stability and being faithful. It's simpler like can you provide food, shelter and a loving home. Something we all want.
Wow...I am going to do the exact same thing. I've been looking at retiring early for a year or so. My good buddy has been coming to the PI for a couple of years now and loves it. I am taking the "leap of faith" and giving it a shot in 7 weeks from now. The crazy part is I'm starting off at the IT park also. I hope to meet some people from your group. Chris....love your channel and keep up the great content!!!
I love this video! Great job doing the interview, Chris. Online dating in the Philippines is also a hit and miss. I guess you just have to take your time and get to know the person.
Great interview with Britt. It’s fascinating as most people including myself don’t recommend moving sight unseen to another country. But Britt shows the all-in strategy can work if you’re doing your research and being part of a facebook support group helps. Personally I found Cebu IT park to be a bit dull. The restaurants are a bit expensive and there wasn’t even a single pub that I saw. But you can definitely get a decent condo so I guess that’s its attraction.
Glad I found your channel brother.. Seriously considering The Philippines for retirement after my divorce.. Keep up the good work. You have a new subscriber..
I have been watching the videos and am convinced that I will be coming to the Philippines in the next few months perhaps which are actual dating websites and not scams there are so many out there from here that say they are Filipino Keep up the good videos thanks in advance Marvin
Love Brett's unmistakable Albany, GA accent! Glad you like it there in Cebu; I'm from central Tagalog region, was stationed in MCLB, Albany for two years while in the Corps. Love it! 😀
Man you can tell this guy Britt is a happy camper in The Phils. I would be too. It looks like he has a great place to live plus he stays under budget as a newbie. All the best to him and i hope to put myself into position to do the same in the near future
Just to share, just came back from the Philippines for a short visit, a US immigration officer who assisted me to customs for declaring goods had asked me about Philippines, and he told me that travel vloggers are just showing good and positive insights about Philippines, I told him, why not come to the Philippines and see for yourself. Philippines is not a perfect country but its way better now than US, its more safe and more fun.
Make a trip there for 2 to 6 months. Cebu is nice, lots to do but not as easy food/infrastructure as Thailand. Get boots on the ground and let it happen, don't rush
I lived in the Philippines from 2013-2019 and did not pay but 6000 Php a month for a 2 bedroom apartment in Angeles City, Pampanga. If you live like a local, then it is not as expensive. I ran the fan during the day and the air-conditioning at night.
Great video i just stumbled across this vid, I am basically going to do the same thing, but I am moving to Thailand instead. Congratulations his interview sounds just like the way my life is going. Me and my ex-wife sold our house and separated in November of 2020 and we were finally divorced in September of 2022 because of the county and state not fully open because of covid. I did online it, actually meet a lady that was originally from the Philippines she was very nice but she had been hurt so bad by the men in her life she couldn't be the woman I needed so I broke that off. I haf a narcissist before her 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 I didn't know what a narcissist was until I meet her. Have a great life guys you just confirmed that I am making the right decision.
2 years of research - and it didn't take long to prefer English speaking areas - when actually trying to picture myself living anywhere ! -- Getting acquainted with people is necessary for everyday living. > Can't do that if you can't communicate (?) now can you ? -- -- -- The Philippines really stands out for the language issue - when cost of living is a priority for you. Many US expats are living there already and that makes it all the more attractive for an easy comfortable retirement. Some do it on half the amount he budgets - @ only $1500/mo. - and a few even retire on half of that (!) - seemingly quite content with frugal !!!
@@CarefreeChris yep - visit it from nearby and still enjoy - but live daily much cheaper and better air quality ? Wise up and really get your money's worth !!!
Hey Chris, great interview. Cool listening to Brett’s story. I’ve watched a few of your videos, good stuff. You have a very likable personality. I just arrived to Cebu yesterday. I’m only here for 3 more days then back to Manila for 4, then on to Thailand for 2 weeks. I went to Ayala Center yesterday evening for dinner, a coffee, and some air condition, lol. Small world. If you are back in Cebu from Noval would be cool to meet up for a coffee.
Great job Chris! Excellent video from a 63 year-old guy from the southeast USA whose looking at PH for retirement and a wife. Britt, I spent many years in Georgia, NC & SC. It's God's country man. I'm curious, since I have a "milder" southern accent than yours, how do Filipina's react to your accent? As I travel abroad, folks love my accent, but sometimes can't quite follow what I'm saying unless I speak slowly, especially if I use some colorful local expressions. Rock on man! Very happy that you landed on your feet. Hope to meet you some day.
For sure and there are great cities to do that in. Cebu City, BGC and Dumaguete are a couple of great options if you're looking to make foreigner friends.
Love this one. I know exactly how he feels I only live about 45mins from albany ga. Tifton here. The date world at 50+ is horrible at best. But I am also starting to make plans to move to the philippines. I dated a philippines woman while Korea and she was awesome like 20yr ago. I'm so jealous hope to u there within the next couple of years.
There is a huge difference in the trans culture in SE Asia then in the West. The Western trans culture wants to force you to accept their ways/beliefs to where SE Asia's trans culture just goes about their every day lives
Sounds like Bret is becoming the best version of himself, in large part thanks to the Philippines... am I right? That was a good interview Chris. Peace and Love, B Goat
So many older guys wanna move there for a 20-30 y/o girl/woman ...for a girl that's young and fresh you give up on a worldly woman that can hold a sophisticated conversation. Have been there 5-6 times, married a girl 20 plus years younger, she and her family used me for a quick way out of poverty...so many guys I know ended up in the same boat.
What I’m discovering is don’t let the age be a limiting factor or you’re missing out on a good portion of the dating pool. We still need good skills when it comes to picking out a long term partner but I’m not at all regretting my decision to be more flexible in my dating age range
How is the dating for a 50 plus American gal there who''s looking for an expat? I haven't seen much info on this anywhere. Probably a reason lol@@CarefreeChris
@@sharonbishop2796 That’s a great question Sharon and my guess is you’ll be just fine with American men who have failed in dating here as well as Filipino men who have never dated a Western woman. The Philippines often gets slated as a single man’s paradise but I personally think the Philippines is for everyone.
My wife is Ukrainian, she spoils me and she also brings home money. She is extremely educated and has a good job. We have never fought after 18 years of marriage. There are many women there that are in their late 20s or early 30s that have given up on finding a decent guy and have decided to stay single. These women are the best ones, but one will need to travel there to meet one. They are too decent to meet anyone online. I was lucky, someone set me up with her when she was on vacation in Germany, I was also there on a business/vacation trip.

See you soon:)
Thanks for watching
I love this video! Great job doing the interview, Chris. Online dating in the Philippines is also a hit and miss. I guess you just have to take your time and get to know the person.
Video on that topic in the works
Great interview with Britt. It’s fascinating as most people including myself don’t recommend moving sight unseen to another country. But Britt shows the all-in strategy can work if you’re doing your research and being part of a facebook support group helps. Personally I found Cebu IT park to be a bit dull. The restaurants are a bit expensive and there wasn’t even a single pub that I saw. But you can definitely get a decent condo so I guess that’s its attraction.
It’s not the norm for sure
Glad I found your channel brother.. Seriously considering The Philippines for retirement after my divorce.. Keep up the good work. You have a new subscriber..
Thanks for watching commenting and subscribing. I really appreciate it. Hope you’re good there man.
I love your channel, Chris. Carry on.
I appreciate that!
Great interview Chris! I stayed in 38 Park and I loved it there! The studios are a little small and expensive though.
Thanks Gary:) Go F1! Great race yesterday:)
How much typically for a 1 bedroom in a building like that ?
What city is that please? I'd like to look at it more.
@@GDuncan8002 38 Park Ave is located in IT Park, Cebu City. The 1BR that I saw was about $800/month.
@@andre.westcoastbestcoast About $800/mo and up.
Hi Chris may God guide you in your new endeavor of your life and enjoy, just be yourself, take your time in everything you do, never rush. Take care 🎉
Thank you so much!
I have been watching the videos and am convinced that I will be coming to the Philippines in the next few months perhaps which are actual dating websites and not scams there are so many out there from here that say they are Filipino
Keep up the good videos thanks in advance
Marvin
I would use two, Bumble and Facebook dating. The rest are garbage imo.
You can just pick up women in the mall.
Congratulations for being happy and contented with your life style in Cebu
Yes. Thank you. Hope you’re great there too.
Just rewatched this. I’m fired up to travel again
lol nice
Very nice video really enjoyed the intro to the video. Good job Chris
Glad you enjoyed it
Guys Enjoy your stay in the Philippines. Live and retire full of happiness and joy 😊.
You know it:). Thanks for watching and commenting
Thank you.
Love Brett's unmistakable Albany, GA accent! Glad you like it there in Cebu; I'm from central Tagalog region, was stationed in MCLB, Albany for two years while in the Corps. Love it! 😀
So cool!
Thank U very much for choosing Philippines
Thank you for having me:) I love being here
Man you can tell this guy Britt is a happy camper in The Phils. I would be too. It looks like he has a great place to live plus he stays under budget as a newbie. All the best to him and i hope to put myself into position to do the same in the near future
He’s having a great time here
@@CarefreeChris He looks so happy he has to sit on his hands to keep from clapping
lol so true
Just subscribed, great job Chris, please have this guy back! Very interesting. Well done!
Yeah. I got him
Just to share, just came back from the Philippines for a short visit, a US immigration officer who assisted me to customs for declaring goods had asked me about Philippines, and he told me that travel vloggers are just showing good and positive insights about Philippines, I told him, why not come to the Philippines and see for yourself. Philippines is not a perfect country but its way better now than US, its more safe and more fun.
Absolutely. Have to check it out and see for yourself
thanks for doing the peso to dollar conversion pop up in your video
No problem 👍
Great interview. All the best to the both of you
Thank you.
I enjoy your interviews as well as the beautiful sites you show in your travels….
Thank you very much!
nice hearing your stories guys n enjoy staying in PH..have fun vlogging
Thank you! Will do!
I was living in Thailand, due to the English barrier strongly considering moving to Cebu
It certainly makes a difference
Make a trip there for 2 to 6 months. Cebu is nice, lots to do but not as easy food/infrastructure as Thailand. Get boots on the ground and let it happen, don't rush
I lived in the Philippines from 2013-2019 and did not pay but 6000 Php a month for a 2 bedroom apartment in Angeles City, Pampanga. If you live like a local, then it is not as expensive. I ran the fan during the day and the air-conditioning at night.
So true. Definitely cheaper places to live int he Philippines other than IT Park in CC.
Good luck to Brett... Albany GA is about 2 hours from me...
Yes. Brett is adjusting for sure
Thanks for watching. Good luck there in Thailand brother
@@CarefreeChris Thanks so much
62 divorced living near Baltimore tired of being here. is 1780 a month SSI enough. this guy is spot on
It’s not bad. I think you’d still want to pick some cheaper areas to live though, but it’s not bad.
i want to live on the beach@@CarefreeChris
this was a funny conversation and great to hear a men's perspective on dating
It’s pretty wild no question
So looove your content!!❤🎉
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it
2 years of research - and it didn't take long to prefer English speaking areas - when actually trying to picture myself living anywhere !
Yeah. I think my expenses will be cut dramatically next year as I’ll be out of the city
@@CarefreeChris yep - visit it from nearby and still enjoy - but live daily much cheaper and better air quality ? Wise up and really get your money's worth !!!
I find your channel, a fun reality show and fairplaying video interviews with backgrounds of my home country Cebu Philippines. Cheers
Thanks for watching
Hey Chris, great interview. Cool listening to Brett’s story. I’ve watched a few of your videos, good stuff. You have a very likable personality. I just arrived to Cebu yesterday. I’m only here for 3 more days then back to Manila for 4, then on to Thailand for 2 weeks. I went to Ayala Center yesterday evening for dinner, a coffee, and some air condition, lol. Small world. If you are back in Cebu from Noval would be cool to meet up for a coffee.
I would love to brother but in Naval. Safe travels and really appreciate you watching
Thanks for watching John. Really appreciate it
Thanks Chris. Great content
My pleasure!
I too will not use anymore time dating in the United States. It's just not worth the effort. And I'm planning my trip/stay at the Philippines 🇵🇭
I hear ya
Be wise in spending and live simple life be healthy and safe at all times.
Yes. Love it
Hey Brett I lived in Cartersville. I worked at the dam there. Great interview Chris.
Thank you:)
The fact that he talked about the meeting other Americans and having friends to go out with with huge for me cuz that was my biggest worry
I'm here. See you soon:)
There is a huge difference in the trans culture in SE Asia then in the West. The Western trans culture wants to force you to accept their ways/beliefs to where SE Asia's trans culture just goes about their every day lives
Yeah man. It's really not an issue here
It's because if our trans act the way yours act in the west, they'll be asking to be punched in the face and the police would look the other way...
Conversely, western cultures can be hostile to the trans community. Not so in SE Asia. They let live. Different cultural norms and practices.
Great interview 👏👏👏
Thank you :-)
Great video, eye-opening for me....I may have to book a flight soon. 😊
I love it here
Sounds like Bret is becoming the best version of himself, in large part thanks to the Philippines... am I right? That was a good interview Chris. Peace and Love, B Goat
I think we all are brother. Get out of the toxic ways of the west and we start becoming happier healthier humans.
Wow. Great interview. I must meet you both next time in Cebu.
Yes! Love it:)
Thanks for these videos!
Glad you like them! Appreciate you watching and commenting
Bret .. you may wish to try a teaspoon of organic ground ginger mixed with a little water. Helps alot with standard reflux.
Great advice
Im in my 50's and i still cant hold a sophisticated conversation so ill stick with the younger ones for now lol
lol i hear ya Bradley.
So incredible right. It’s really a global dating environment now
