Mountain Adventure CDO to Gingoog Motorcycle Ride Through Mindanao’s Scenic Highlands
Join me on an unforgettable mountain adventure as I ride from Cagayan de Oro (CDO) to Gingoog City, navigating the breathtaking highlands of Mindanao. This journey takes you through winding mountain roads, lush landscapes, and stunning vistas that showcase the natural beauty of the Philippines. Experience the thrill of motorcycle touring through Mindanao’s scenic mountains, with highlights of majestic views, fresh mountain air, and an exhilarating route that’s perfect for adventure seekers. If you’re planning to explore Mindanao on two wheels, this CDO to Gingoog ride is one you won’t want to miss!
Gingoog City, located in Misamis Oriental on the island of Mindanao, Philippines, is a charming and picturesque city nestled between lush mountains and the coastline. Known for its natural beauty and serene atmosphere, Gingoog offers visitors a unique blend of outdoor adventure and cultural experiences. This small city, with its friendly locals and laid-back vibe, has long been a favorite for travelers looking to experience authentic Mindanao. Gingoog’s scenic landscape, framed by Mount Balatukan to the west and pristine forests surrounding the area, makes it an ideal spot for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
One of Gingoog’s most famous attractions is Tiklas Falls, located about 13 kilometers from the city center. This majestic waterfall, with its cascading waters set amidst tropical greenery, is perfect for those seeking a peaceful nature retreat and makes for a fantastic day trip. Another popular destination is the Gingoog City Boulevard, a beautifully redeveloped waterfront area where visitors can relax, stroll along the pier, or enjoy local delicacies from nearby vendors. For a historical touch, the Flight 387 Memorial Shrine pays tribute to the passengers and crew of Cebu Pacific Flight 387, which tragically crashed into the mountains of Gingoog in 1998. This site serves as a solemn reminder and a beautiful vantage point with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Historically, Gingoog City holds significance as one of the oldest settlements in Misamis Oriental, with roots tracing back to the early Spanish colonial period. Established as a mission town by Spanish missionaries in the 18th century, Gingoog has preserved its rich cultural heritage, evident in its annual Kaliga Festival held every July, celebrating the city’s founding. The festival showcases traditional dances, music, and costumes, offering visitors an immersive experience in the cultural history of Gingoog. Over the years, Gingoog has developed while maintaining its peaceful charm, making it an ideal destination for travelers interested in exploring both the natural beauty and historical richness of Mindanao.

Those mountain top views are maganda man. Wondering if the farmers out there would give you a tour of what they grow? Good way to learn for when you start your garden and raise your chickens. Love the cafe too! Philippine Rosewood trees.
Good ideas there. Love meeting the locals too. Thanks
Uptown CDO is very nice
I spent an afternoon around there. Looked good
My grandfather was 30 years older than my grandmother. But she was a single mom and found him for security. What a lot want is a visa to America or Canada. It’s not love and roses. The younger ones are looking for security. Old men offer it and lot times take it over looks as long as they are taken care of bottom line.
Sometimes it just works
I am with a guy that was with a filapina for 7 years. She gave him an ultimatum to be married/live together or were done. So he walked and 2 weeks later he met me. Been with him 16 years now. I come from the old ways. But for the first 10 years his ex would call and want him back. I gutted me. I felt like I was competing with her. It made my life a living hell as I felt as though I had to prove myself to him that I was a valid person also. After all this time and seeing your videos and how western women get snubbed as being angry and impossible and demanding. I feel it’s an unfair comparison as not all are this way. But as a white women trying to compete against filapina’s I find it very hard. It get to the point where you come to realize that maybe the men in their 50s are better with Filapina’s. Because we all age and to dump someone if their menopausal seems like there is no tolerance. It seems it’s all about the men here. What about the women do they not get appreciated and if a white women wishes to be thought of or appreciative. They are considered needy and vain. I love the Filipino culture. But it’s a growing thing for single white women now not being good enough. Taking your gals out to McDonald’s or Jollybee and calling that a date. Seems kinda cheap to me.
It's so different here, thankfully:)
Very nice, thank you and GOD Bless Sir! JESUS is LORD over the Philippines. Amen and Amen!!!
Amen:)
All the wicked witches in the West treat men like garbage and no self respecting man will tolerate them .
This dude straight up got the aerial view of his bed.🥷🏻
lol:)
Oh yes, La Vista Highlands in Don Salvador Benedicto Negros Occidental.. Kinda fairly cold temperature though.. They have also, some village residence for the retired westerners.. I used to be going there in Don Salvador Benedicto to buy freshly picked dragonfruit 😊😊😊
Love that place. I'll be back for sure
Yeah, really nice to take a nap for 2 hours with sea breeze end up snoring.. Like the Cargo passenger ferry though, can park your vehicle inside ferry 😊😊
Absolutely:)
Just on the outskirts of CDO there looked like a cool 20-30 foot road cut 😊 just after the cool restaurant you took drone shots over a crop I didn’t recognize. So great your adding info, elevation, mountain names, menu, etc your enthusiasm is sanfrantastic 😅
Thanks Dad. Really enjoying this kind of stuff too:)
Chris, hoping to see you ride through the mountains of the Northern part of the country (Luzon) soon.. enjoy & Be safe always..
Looks like an incredible ride.
Hey Chris !!! I can really see your Channel Growing if you do more Restaurant and Food introduction in your videos in your region in the Philippines! It will give your viewers a tour around view and allow you to have a broader audience !
Noted and agree. It has to be more than just riding
Chris, I don’t know what that happy juice you’re drinking is, but I want to slather that all over my body like I am basting a thanksgiving turkey. Yup, I got some holiday appropriate humor in there… ride on!
Good stuff. Lol
Mindanao is amazing, but you just gotta avoid Muslim areas specially you as a foreigner.
So true
Interesting looking cafe!
It was!
Rob and Krissy have a high quality channel. They give good information for the hill top area in CDO.
For sure. Admittedly I haven’t seen much but can see by their views and subscribers they’re doing something right
Handsome Chris, Butuan is pronounced Boo-2-Ahn. Gingoog is Hing-Oh-Ohg
Not 2 but Juan:)
Enjoy have a look at people's park🎉🎉🎉
I'll have to check that out, thanks:)
..started this one with a boom boom .. I mean bang!
Was a good time:)
you liked cdo, I forbid you to go back to cebu or Ayala.
lol:)
The Bukidnon Highlands look like a nice place if live, to get away from the heat of the costal cities.
Yes. Looks good
Awesome drone footage my man
Much appreciated
Amping, and hope you enjoy your trip, Chris...Jim
Thank you, I will
Cool tile in that bathroom
:)
Try exploring Siquijor Island or Guimaras Island in Negros Island Region.. If it is you want near Cebu, then San Carlos City Negros Occidental is the right place.. If you want Guimaras Island then it is near Iloilo City and If you want Siquijor Island then it is near Dumaguete City Negros Oriental 😅😅
Yes! Great suggestions. Thank you:)
Welldone Chris CDO is becoming very popular and iloilo is won't looking at
I'm digging CDO.
As usual, well done. Loved the view and that cafe looked very cool. Thanks for Sharing.
Thanks Dan:)
Sweet !
Oh yeah!:)
That ride over the mountains is one of my favourites Chris. Glad you enjoyed. The midpoint has some great places to eat as well.

Looks like in my hometown in Aloran/Oroquita City.
Good times:)
Hey Chris, got back into watching my youtubers and noticed Jo is missing. What happened with you and her?
We stopped dating late 2023 for numerous reason. I can't speak for her fully but would assert we're both much better off doing different things.
Welcome back:)
@CarefreeChris dang man, well I hope both of yall are doing good by this point!
I noticed your not wearing your pacsafe bag anymore. Did you find another way to secure your cellphone and money?
I don't have a PacSafe but would like to try one out. The bag you may be referreing to is my Kriega bag and I left it at my apartment.
Enjoyed the video. Thank you, Chris...Jim
Glad you enjoyed it
Camiguin , Siargao, Siquijor....
Yes. Love it
"I would recommend some of the best homegrown food restaurants in the CDO area: High Ridge, Cucina Higala, Ribs & Bibs, Chali Restaurant, Bigby's, Fat Chef, Kagay-anon Restaurant, and Amaya Restaurant."
Perfect. I'll hit those up next time i'm in town
I realize it ain't a ukulele but did ya grab the guitar and belt out some El testament d'Amèlia? 🎸🎼 Ya either woulda got a free meal or the boot down the hill! 😆✌🏻
Next time!:)
Cebu-ish traffic in CDO? The city administrator must be from Cebu City 😂
Yeah. Similar traffic for sure
That X-Max looks like a nice bike! But the N-Max has plenty of power for me.
Nice insight. Hope all is great there Gary
Great ride and Chris and I had some great conversations. I rented several smaller bikes including the ADV 160. There is no wrong choice. I opted for the XMAX for more power passing on the steep inclines and a bit more comfort. Unfortunately the bike is much pricier than the NNAX and Honda 160's. Anyone have any questions shoot me a message.
Yes! Good times and looking forward to future adventures together:)
Yes handsome man that’s what I’ve been saying for years. CDO has fun people but terrible traffic. For me Butuan is a better place because there’s basically zero traffic
Nice. I can’t wait to check out both more
@ To make it worse, all of the major malls in CDO are right next to each other downtown. Worst layout I’ve ever seen in a city. Butuan has 2 big malls. But Butuan is almost twice as small.
Yeah been debating between the x-max and the adv160. I think I'm going to go x-max.
Yeah. I'll see my budy with the xmax soon as we're planning on riding more. I'm sure I'll shoot more vidoes talking about this bike
