Smear at least one Republican while reminding everyone how low gas is. Extra points if you can tie it to Trump and imagine what torture it would be to give him another term. Take a vacation Joy.

As an African American women, I love all genres of music. PBS did a film series on the history of Country music, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it "started" with African American cowboys and artists.
Nobody knows the black history of country music, it’s manufactured history to make black people feel like they were a part of something they had very little to do with
I'm a white American and have seen many local bands throughout East Asia playing country music. It never occurred to me to be offended.
You are an exception, a lot of white Americans can’t stand when black people are successful, especially when representation is limited.

The problem should never be the colour of the skin of the person singing country music. However, some singers are not good at singing country music, I just don't think Beyonce is good at singing counts music. And you are welcome to disagree. Just because you are from Texas doesn't mean you are good at singing country music. For the same reason I don't want to hear Blake Sheldon singing Put a ring on it and I would not want to hear Dolly Parton singing hard rock

Growing up in the 80's and 90's, in Texas, there were several old Black men playing country on the porch. That is how many of the kids learned how to play guitar, was from those old guys.

I don't see anywhere in her comment that indicates or even eludes to Russia being anyway connected with the condition of slavery in the history of United States. It is not required that one created a circumstance in order to exploit it. I don't like country music, and I don't like be on say.. I don't like rap, r and b .. but I also don't get to decide, and nor does anyone else.. I'd say there is no music industry, its all hype and no substance. Its all auto tuned canned garbage, can't be preformed live, without faking. That song they played sounds exactly like the songs I've already heard 20 thousand times.. its formulaic crap.. so I won't buy it, but that shouldn't stop you, if you like it.

"Fairytale," by the Pointer Sisters was a country song written by Bonny and Anita Pointer that won them a Grammy for "Best Country Performance by a Duo or a Group" for 1974 and performed at the Grand Ol' Opry that same year. This is what Bonnie Pointer had to say about it, "People think because we're always trying something different we're not sincere. Like country music. For us, it's no joke. Our folks came from Arkansas and we grew up singing country songs. It's part of us."
I can totally relate. I grew up in California with a black mother from Texas and black father from Oklahoma. I grew up listening to R&B, Blues and Country music in our household. When my mother lay dying in hospice, my sister brought in a radio tuned into a country music station as our mom always found the music comforting.

Thank you VERY MUCH for reminding me of the Pointer Sisters ARTISTS tribute to Storytelling and in a way it is well received UNIVERSALLY. And DOES NOT ATTRACT A sensationalize injection of the RACE CARD to grab attention and deflect away from THOSE SUCH AS BEYONCE WHO ARE FAKE AND PHONY PONY RIDERS. SHOWING THAT Beyonce has no sense of self worth nor knowledge of the valued meaning of African/African American culture. Conversely, the Pointer Sisters statements communicate intelligent connection about GOOD MUSIC.... NOT LIP SYNCING FEMALES WANNABE ARTIST CONDUCT.

I was physically pushed by a white man when i performed a country song at a bar. The bar allowed him to do this when i addressed the matter they didn't do nothing. This happened at bigshots bar in Waterford MI. I filed a police report and nothing happened all to say some white people get mad and abusive when a black woman sings country....racism should not be tolerated in business establishments. I will be filing a complaint with the civil rights department since the Waterford Michigan police did nothing didnt even investigate the matter!

What do these music execs do while listening to songs on the radio in their car?
The same thing that everyone else does:
If a song comes on the radio that doesn't resonate with you,
you change the channel, turn down the volume, turn it off or slide in a cd.
You like what you like, and what you don't like, you don't listen too.
But no one is taking over your choice of music forcing you to listen to songs you don't want to hear.
John Schneider ain't doing it, nor is Dolly Parton. Same with Beyonce.

I am in my 60’s and every single day of my life I knew I was black, but since 2016, now I also have to hear about it every single day. It seems like the 70s and 80s things were much easier.
The phrase “cowboy” was used as an insult to black men who wrangled cattle, etc. white men were called cattlemen, ranchers, wranglers, never cowboys.

Houston has the largest Black Cowboy Association in the nation. A big part of the World's Largest Rodeo. Beyonce is a beautiful example of Houston, and Texas. ❤️❤️❤️

I'm a life-long country music fan, in my seventies, in the UK. I was introduced to this track by a young colleague and expected to dismiss it as a trite mock-up of country. What a shock! Beyonce absoloutely nails it. It's brilliant👍

That song was quite a departure for her considering her previous work, but she has never been one that someone could box into one genre. "Black Cat" wouldn't have been out of place on AOR radio stations, but such stations must not have wanted any part of the song just because Jackson sang on it. Those stations couldn't use the excuse of "Black Cat" being an R&B or pop song.

I started learning to play banjo about 15 years ago, I started then to study the history of the banjo and black folks influence on country music. It's eye opening. Folk musicians always learn songs from each other regardless of ethnicity. Black folks hardly ever get credit for their contributions.
As a Caucasian that loves everyone I’m so sick of the topic of black vs white. Or whites or blacks acting better. Lord Jesus heal our land and let us have forgiveness in our hearts and show more love and acceptance in our relationships new and old. Praise God
Charlie Pride is a country music legend. He was genuine "country." He's in the Country Music Hall of Fame. The real deal. Beyonce??? If you watch, "Grand Old Opry," you'll see plenty of black country performers. I saw Wendy Moten perform there, in 2022. She was amazing. The audience loved her. (She's performed at the Opry dozens of times.)

@@JJacks920 I have played music 50 years, started in Bluegrass (Have played with Hall of Fame Bluegrass players too) and was full-time in Outlaw Country Band by age 20. Have toured, been in on tons of recording sessions, played in Austin 7 years, LA, FL, WY, Co, WA, OR, NC, etc. To my ears that song is legit, people are dancing which is a good sign and I like it better than anything else I have ever heard Beyonce perform.....you can feel it in her roots. I am actually to to play it later this month at an outdoor concert with band, dancers, etc. The festival is mostly Blues but I bet people will be up dancing. No one certainly has to like it though.

It's astounding how little most Americans know about the history of "country" music. They don't even know that almost every major country star since the start of country music learned from, imitated, and idolized black musicians. I'm talking about Jimmie Rodgers, the Carter Family, Uncle Dave Macon, Doc Boggs, Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Bob Wills, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and on and on and on.

You evidently don't know that Hank Williams learned how to play and sing in the 1930s from a black man in Montgomery, AL by the name of Rufus Payne. Williams talked about Payne until the end of his short life. You evidently don't know that Jimmie Rodgers, the "father of country music," learned how to play from black men who worked with his father and him on the railroad. Rodgers also taught bluesman Howlin' Wolf how to yodel --- in person -- in a little town called White Station just north of West Point, MS. Rodgers was also a huge influence on Robert Johnson, the legendary bluesman. You evidently don't know that A.P. Carter, the leader of the Carter Family, got most of his songs and a lot of his playing style from a black man named Leslie Riddle. You evidently don't know that Bill Monroe, the "father of bluegrass," learned how to play from a black man named Arnold Schultz and often said Schultz was one of his biggest influences. You evidently don't know that Johnny Cash learned how to play guitar from a black man who lived near his family on a cotton plantation in Dyess, AR. I'm African! When I came to America I recognize the country music because I heard it in Cape Verd Island! We would hear some people singing like country and we signal the person by singing like that!
They even have a Black Gospel category, which implies that gospel is a white owned genre, when Gospel grew out of spirituals, and Call and Response developed by enslaved Africans.

The Lone Ranger and others like Jerry Lewis based his entire comedic personality, physicality, and whole TV comedic acts he stole from a Black Vaudville artist named Stampy. Lewis got away with the theft bc Black artists, at the time TV came along, weren't allowed to perform on TV (be seen of compared). Lewis went to Harlem and lifted Stampy's acts word for word without changing a thing.
Being white, knowing Black history, not taught, requires doing your own research. Doing so ruins the narrative that the collective has been fed & white people hold dear.

I’m a “boomer” country fan; we’re talking Hank Williams (not Jr), Loretta, Whispering Bill Anderson, Tammy, the Cashes, Conway, Charlie Pride, Willie & Waylon etc. That said, I like the song EXCEPT FOR the *exact same thing* I hate about American culture in general: cussing and vulgarity having to be ever present in conversation. There use to be a time that it was used for shock value, now it’s just common. But, that’s not just on Beyoncé, that’s on who we’ve now chosen to be as a society, so it is what it is (that doesn’t mean I have to like it, it just means I’ll have to wear my big boy pants and deal with it because that’s what *actual* adults do…..). So, I’ll still sing the song, insert my own words when necessary, and dance right along with it. For years I’ve had a couple of country music stations saved on my car radio along with other different genres. I listen to whichever station I’m in the mood for on any given day. Not what anybody thinks I should be listening to because of the color of my skin.

I went on winter trip to Big Bear. The local bar/club is country with karaoke. My Black friend picked a song for the DJ to play. He said I want to try and sing this song. Everyone was wondering why this Black guy was on stage and not giving him a chance to sing. He started to sing and everyone stop to listen. He surprised all of us. We did not know he was into country music. He was the best singer of the night. Women were all over him after the song and wanted him to sing more and duets.

They don’t know the whole town as well as some other parts of Mexico are totally black and celebrate Juneteenth on behalf of us because when some enslaved people escaped with the Seminole (black) indigenous tribe down to Mexico,they founded that town. Research it. It’s a guy named Ace travels or something like that on here who went to the town and went to a Juneteenth type celebration and it was all black people who are Mexican and Mexican American. Also The Olmecs were really the Xi people,people of color and who were the first people of Mexico and I learned that from a white Mexican

A large portion of American blacks listened to Grand Ol’ Opry on the radio back in the 30s. DeFord Bailey was a favorite guest on that program. Muhammad Ali listened to country music. When asked why, responded that he was from Louisville and all black people in Louisville listen to country. Ray Charles not only listened to country, his country music recordings were highly regarded. There are numerous old recordings of black musicians playing country. Black musicians were often hired to play at white dances so virtually every black musician knew some amount of country.
