I'm not American, I'm from Europe. I had heard about books being banned from schools in some states, but I never thought that it would become illegal for librarians to check them out. Illegal? Remember, that book bans occur at the local level. This is why it's absolutely critical that we all vote in every single election no matter how small. These local governments must be flipped Blue to prevent losing these freedoms.
And research your nonpartisan candidates. If you dig, you can usually suss out what they are. Nonpartisan races seem a bit like a way to pull something over on us since most don’t have or take the time to do their homework.

As a lifetime patron of the Chicago Public Library, I swear I never knew the re-shelf cart was for us to put books on. I thought it was for Librarians who were in the middle of reshelving books. When I was last in a court room during a trial, we were not allowed to be using our phones. Bailiff informed us before the Judge came in. Phone/texting etc should not be allowed in the court.
