Another great video. I try to always do a practice swing but feel I am just going through the motions and not really accomplishing anything with it. This video helped me see what I really should be doing.
That's great to hear! Sometimes "going through the motions" is still preparing you mentally, helping you focus in on a feeling in your swing or the shot you're trying to play
Great video- sadly we don't get to discuss this with you- but there is a lot more to the physcology of practice swings ( or no practice swings) to chat about
Absolutely, everyone's psychology building up to a shot is completely different and the pre-shot routine can provide some great mental triggers to prepare you for each shot
My practice swing and and actual swing will never be the same so I don’t bother. My practice swing is great but hitting the ball, it all goes out the door.
Maybe use that time to focus on something specific if you're working on your swing, maybe exaggerating a feeling etc. It might just be a better way of focusing in rather than thinking each practice swing has to be exactly the same as the real thing
I used to think like that. My advice, for what it's worth. Go to the range and hit balls with your practice swing. Don't care where they go just try and replicate that nice smooth swing. If you do it correctly you will see patterns and from there you can start adjusting parts of your set up or technique to try and straighten up your shots. At the end of the day you need solid contact and a decent face to path. A lot of people I play with, and I've done it for years myself, is trying to hit the ball harder and further. That's when my movements get out of whack and the nice practice swing becomes useless.
@ I have an easy swing, never try to hit the ball hard, my irons are strong lofted so I don’t have to. It’s just a mental block I suppose but will give it a go.
