It's sad I missed those days where we make chat on plane or ship to town but they removed it for quicker access I mean it's effecient to travel but that also means those stuffs are being forgotten and erased also the party quest like kerning pq, Monster carnival and ludi pq. To compensate working adults they make it become a grinding game :/
I miss this a lot. The 20-100 people in one flight, the random trolls that would bug people for no reason, people playing omok in and out of the cabins,the egos they had about how strong they were even thought you right clicked them and they were low level with fresh unfunded gear ( ;-.-), the sudden change in the atmosphere when Crimson Balrog appear causing everyone to scurry inside, the mistake the people made trying to fight it at lvl 20-50 (this guy!) But more importantly we all share one thing. The memories of these events will stick by us!

I would never dare start playing an MMORPG today, but I have no doubt in my mind MapleStory was a lot of fun to play. Listening to this was only initially peaceful for me. The build-up from 0:50 and climax at 0:58 makes me tense because it's after 0:58 that Balrogs are about to spawn. Even after reaching a level where I could kill them, the time spent living in fear of them, after all these years, has conditioned me.
Me and my Maple friends used to ride the boat back and forth and relax at the Ellinia station just chatting and having fun! it was so enjoyable, I miss those times soo much!
I remember having to wait for the ship to arrive at the port, constantly cc-ing to check for ships, eventually settling on channel 1 because that's where everyone was... having to pay 80k mesos (which was considered a lot then) just to get on this ship to orbis. And once I died when I exited the cabin, and had to be transported back >.< Ahh the bittersweet memories... :)
Reading all the comments brings back so much memories of our childhood back then in MapleStory. It feels so good to be a part of the family. Once in awhile I would play back osts of maple story. KR's are good at OSTs, dont get me wrong, JR are good at it too. But Maple Story is one of the golden times. I wish to turn back time again, where I would quickly finish school and come back home and turn on pc to login maple story.

I remember meeting someone named IronOxide on one ride. I walked over and said, "Rust?" and that moment when someone knew what his name meant was the best thing ever.
The first time i went on this ship after reaching level 30 was just "wow" i had to get to ludi for the party quests there and it felt like going abroad for the first time, maybe because thats what it was. orbis was so much different than victoria island, it was so advanced in its look, it really felt rewarding to land there and see it for the first time. and then when i got to ludi and saw all the people that were levels 30-60 it felt like im in for a long and wonderful ride here. and it was wonderful indeed. if there'll be a kickstarter campaign where nexon will release maple global in its pre-big-bang state, im sure hundred of thousands will sign in and donate. JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN!
join a private maple server (trollface). seriously, there's several private servers that are designed to remain in pre-Big Bang stage, and they're super fun. try one out! :D
2:20 this is where we land...a minute or two for pre departure plus 2 minutes and less than 30 seconds. In that short time I could add 2 or more people in my buddy list. Good times... Also that part when everyone races to the top of the ship in pre departure for no apparent reason whatsoever.

i remember taking this to orbis and once exiting I saw so many different places to go. i grinded at orbis floor 20F for so long just to take the ships to Ariant, Ludi, etc. The first time boarding those ships was amazing, not as crowded as the one to orbis and most of the time I will be alone but there is always a couple in a few trips. best of all, no barlogs so I get to enjoy the music and just watch the timer above tick down
i remember playing ms all the time in 8th grade, meeting so many fun people on this game, pulling all-nighters, doing the carnival challenges with friends. i even had my very first crush on this game...he helped me out leveling up and then we kind of started liking each other, which is weird to think about now, but it just comes to show how amazing maple story was, and to a lot of us, it was a place where we felt like home, even if it was a virtual reality. i forgot who he is now, which is sad to think..but at least i have the memories :'-)
To be honest when my bro first introduced me to this game, I was so excited about going for this first boat trip to Orbis. While taking the trip instead of my character I'll feel like I'm inside my game and enjoying the clouds passing by xD The times were great, if only they could come back :)
I didn't even know there was a 'cabin' and kept getting killed by balrogs on the way and got sent back to Ellinia so many times 😂. Took me 1 lucky ride with a high level guy that was actively hunting the balrogs there to keep me safe and to tell me how stupid I was for not using the cabin. He was right, of course I was a big dumb dumb. But that memory was worth every meso.

Okay sure we can do that... but in sense... it would hardly be the same especially because a lot of us have grown up. Not many of us back then would even play now. It was much easier to do this when all you had was school to worry about. Truly miss the days of old maple. Post-BB Maplers now (new gen) have no idea what it was like to go through what pre-bb was haha. Now, is just a lot of content and classes, and it's more of a solo thing now.

And then, the Balrogs came, i was so scared of them and didnt know what to do. Then someone guided me to sneak into the boat through a door. Also, nobody wants to go to orbis anymore... Sad, really. I miss the old maple, really, really bad. Sucks that them up at Nexon ruined it.
I get your feeling but it ain't their fault, I mean if orbis was the only late game content then the game would have crashed on on its 2nd year. Besides that nexon has come up with fantastic content such as black heaven. Although it's sad it is only natural for some old content to be abandoned.
+Quannix Rainbowaxe Old Maplestory and New Maplestory both aren't bad games, it's just the games changed so much from one to another that you can't help but want that adventure back instead of cruising to high levels without giving so much as a second glance...
i still remember if you wanted to go to Ludibrium from Victoria Island you had to go to Orbis first and then take the flying train to Ludibrium... and then Orbis station was so long if you didn't have Flash Jump or Teleport... there was that clock too and you would be worried you'd miss the ship... back then traveling was actually fun and you got to meet new friends...

The quickest and fastest way to get to Orbis from Victoria Island is to take the ship from Victoria Island to Ereve then to Orbis.

i remember taking this to orbis and once exiting I saw so many different places to go. i grinded at orbis floor 20F for so long just to take the ships to Ariant, Ludi, etc.
The first time boarding those ships was amazing, not as crowded as the one to orbis and most of the time I will be alone but there is always a couple in a few trips. best of all, no barlogs so I get to enjoy the music and just watch the timer above tick down
i remember playing ms all the time in 8th grade, meeting so many fun people on this game, pulling all-nighters, doing the carnival challenges with friends. i even had my very first crush on this game...he helped me out leveling up and then we kind of started liking each other, which is weird to think about now, but it just comes to show how amazing maple story was, and to a lot of us, it was a place where we felt like home, even if it was a virtual reality. i forgot who he is now, which is sad to think..but at least i have the memories :'-)

I didn't even know there was a 'cabin' and kept getting killed by balrogs on the way and got sent back to Ellinia so many times 😂. Took me 1 lucky ride with a high level guy that was actively hunting the balrogs there to keep me safe and to tell me how stupid I was for not using the cabin. He was right, of course I was a big dumb dumb. But that memory was worth every meso.
Man I remember how hard it was for me to get used to jumping so I could get onto the sails.

So many people get upset at us for missing the old days due to our nostalgia. and some even say just play a private server of pre-bb. Okay sure we can do that... but in sense... it would hardly be the same especially because a lot of us have grown up. Not many of us back then would even play now. It was much easier to do this when all you had was school to worry about. Truly miss the days of old maple. Post-BB Maplers now (new gen) have no idea what it was like to go through what pre-bb was haha. Now, is just a lot of content and classes, and it's more of a solo thing now.

I remember the day when i was just lv 23, and i was begging people for some little meso just for a flight.
it was 80k meso back then, i jumped into the boat and walk around, think about the place it took me to, and excited about it.
And then, the Balrogs came, i was so scared of them and didnt know what to do. Then someone guided me to sneak into the boat through a door. I was saved that time and made it to Orbis xD

Also, nobody wants to go to orbis anymore... Sad, really. I miss the old maple, really, really bad. Sucks that them up at Nexon ruined it.
I get your feeling but it ain't their fault, I mean if orbis was the only late game content then the game would have crashed on on its 2nd year. Besides that nexon has come up with fantastic content such as black heaven. Although it's sad it is only natural for some old content to be abandoned.

i still remember if you wanted to go to Ludibrium from Victoria Island you had to go to Orbis first and then take the flying train to Ludibrium... and then Orbis station was so long if you didn't have Flash Jump or Teleport... there was that clock too and you would be worried you'd miss the ship... back then traveling was actually fun and you got to meet new friends...
