Yknow what I miss most about Speakeasy? The frankness and grounded reality of the conversations. Scotty Auks is hardly ever playing in straight in interviews, so this is just so great to see, you know?
@@snavisTM "That is the absolute best, when someone fails at pedantry and you can turn it back around on them." - Paul F Tompkins (Rob Riggle interview)
It's been a decade or whatever since Speakeasy and there's still perhaps no better comedic duo energy than these two fellers. This shouldn't still be funny, but it is
PFT takes the art of "yes, and..." to the most beautiful of levels. Him and Ben Schwartz aren't necessarily the best improv artists but are so willing to go wherever you lead them. That's awesome to me.
Yeah, one of my least favorite things is when an improviser keeps their character too reigned in. I feel like Mike Hanford is constantly turning down "yes and" opportunities, for example. I still enjoy the John Lennon episodes of CBB, but it frustrates me. Same with Ego Nwodim and a few others. I like improvisers like Thomas Middleditch, Sean Diston, and Andy Daly who will just go wherever they're led.
Their rapport is the best thing on earth. Do yourself a favor and listen to the Best Ofs on the CBB podcast. It's like 8+ hours per year of these two just being insane.
@@user-jv7ig6ie5b It was definitely "not worth it." I've listened to thousands of hours of PFT comedy at this point, and he's said "not worth it" a ton of times when he makes a reference that falls flat like that did.
The best. I could watch/listen to them for hours. I wish PFT would be a guest on Comedy Bang Bang the Podcast instead of all those weirdos like Cake Boss (cake boss), Gary Marshall (please call him Gary) and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber. Oh well, a man can dream.
That's why I love the end of the year best of episodes. Scott and Paul just shooting the shit is many times far more entertaining than the clips themselves.
I've literally started listening to CBB! over the past few months.... great they still post stuff from "back in the day".... My first listen...CBB, Best of 2011...(starring these 2 geniuses)... Between Aukerman (this show and all his excellent guests) and "Super Ego"...wow... The comedy and improv is brilliantly funny...I mean.... "I'm in my garden with earbuds and I fall down with laughter" silliness. "Stabby" the waif and Andrew Lloyd Webber....holy shite... "Has he left?...." (fear in voice) 🤣😂😂🤣 Cheers! I know that Tompkins is on Comedy Bang! Bang! on a very consistent basis, but I still can't believe that these two do not cohost a podcast together. Their banter could entertain me eternally.
I enjoy that Paul doesn't interview the most famous people but rather people who are legit entertaining and interesting. It makes his interviews way more interesting to listen to.
@@snavisTM good lord dude, are you trying to start a fight on a 5 year old youtube video? he said "most famous" which implies they're still famous, just not uber-famous. seriously, get a grip man

This was awesome! I love both of these guys and I love CBB on TV. Thankfully, it is still on Netflix and my guilty pleasure is watching almost every night on a tablet in bed as I go to sleep. Thank you Netflix! I do, however, find it interesting that they did not mention the CBB (previously Comedy Death Ray) podcast much as that clearly lead to the TV show.. "Thank you PaulF"

I have been trying to make my way through all of the old Speakeasy episodes, but I keep accidentally watching this one over and over again.
It is weird that these two get along so well since the only time they talk is to record the Best of Comedy Bang Bang! episodes once a year.
