Wow, this nearly brings tears to my eyes. I was deeply into the game in high school and had to stop in college because I was too addicted haha but I have never found a game to "replace" Mabi so I'm incredibly excited for this!!!
I’m going back in hard if they manage to pull this off. I really hope they don’t cancel this. This game was way ahead of its time. The world needs to know what the golden era of MMORPG looked like.

To get home from school and go exploring in a fantasy world that got me through the darkest parts of my life. Shut up.
For years now I haven't been able to live in peace. No Internet as I keep moving. Finding ways to have fun on the go was my main source of peace. Yet I hope whenever and wherever that peace is made, I'll finally play this game I'm so inspired by.
honestly feel like rather than an update they should restart the whole game from g1 to get everyone back into the original plot and correct mistakes they made because i feel like at this point the community isnt going to get larger for the game as is with the old players being level 20k+ and that way people will play the new version for nostalgia and gain new players
Honestly? I would absolutely love that. I played the game awhile back and while I did enjoy it, it was off putting seeing these high level players just standing around and not really playing the game much anymore. They were just mainly standing and selling things to the other old players or to any new players that may have joined the game. I'd say it would definitely be a good idea for the game. I also think that at least the older players can keep their cosmetics that they paid for. It would kinda be messed up if they just took away those things they paid for. 😂 Would probably make them feel like their money was wasted and may not want to play or put money in the game again.
They actually power level you to 20k total nowadays + skill training is a lot easier, maybe not the solution ya'll want but it is easier to catch up now. I do personally dislike how early game progression is just skipped now and a lot of the low level content doesn't matter.

Mabinogi has one of the greatest mmo storyline out there. I tried other mmos but the newer ones are cash grabs and have a crappy storeline. I'll definitely be back ouo

I hope they can keep the old option for people who don't have computers fast enough or with good enough graphics cards for the new engine. If not people won't be able to play on the new system. Like a dual graphic system; people on older or not as high end computers would select old graphics and see that on their screen. And the others would select the higher end stuff and see that but still be able to interact with the other players on old machines. In the past a couple games did this.

That game turn out to be very boring auto battle auto do quest the kind of generic mobile mmo thing, at least from what close beta footage look like, you don't have the freedom of class and such like original mabinogi was.

How in the world are you pulling models? From what I just learned, the models are not actual meshes, but 2D textured layered planes? I would love to extract a model to 3D print.
I remember when due to some hack attack all npc's in entire game where killed and not responding so all activity stopped. They temp. shut down servers. This unique mmo deserves a refresh
Only the EU version got shutdown, and wasn't only because of the issues with people using Pake, was a screw up from both sides(Nexon and players) NA versions allowed EU players to play there from that point.
if mabi does get this.... i can only wish for the combat to be epic it def be a hell of a nexon boost in stocks and game of the year what ever year it comes out of sad thing is im always disapointed when my hopes are this hyped... so cool!!!

This looks incredible, my only concern is them half-ass updating the old outfits and appearance options, or reinterpreting them in a way that loses what made the old aesthetics unique. Take the fishing dudes hairstyle for example, it looks nice but it also looks changed a decent amount, it's not as long in the back it seems, though maybe it looks more different because he's wearing a hat. I'm very fond of the older hairstyles and outfits, so I hope they remain as faithful to those old appearance options as much as they can. Also I hope they finally let giants have facial hair with any hairstyle, put it in the face options, and separate head shapes from face cosmetics.
This looks amazing. Mabinogi is definitely one of those games where the amazing gameplay far, far outweighs the shitty graphics. And I'm glad the graphic is bad, because that means it can run on almost any computer. The classless system is so awesome, and they actually make grinding for stats and skills fun. With that said, this thing is so pay-2-win it's not even funny, but it's Korean so that is to be expected.
I hope the combat will be rebuilt to incorporate the original paper scissor rock. The current late game is just chasing big numbers and that's frustrating and boring.
Exactly what I was expecting after watching the video with Nao few months ago. The unnecessary details create noise, that break the style and the simple shading creates bad looking highlights. The thumbnail of the first video UA-cam recommends me here has the old Nao and new one next each other and I can clearly see the problem, new design lacks manually made coloring and light seems to be too strong. Another problem, which is related to the unnecessary details is with the map design, if there's too many non-lowpoly models it will worsen the rendering problems, but on the other hand higher view distance with only simple green color grass and trees being visible will look weird and cheap.

Mabinogi still recieving updates was the best surprise I found last year. Hopefully next year, Mabinogi in a new engine will the next best surprise.
