Each turn costs a quarter, so she spent $33,750 in that time. And she only won sixty dollars. Gambling is a mugs game.
Well, since you win back some of the money, you don't actually spend $33,750, you need to take into account the difference between losses and winings. Don’t know if I’d go that far, but he mostly did try his best aside from strangling Bart.
3:17, “He can’t talk now!” Can we all just point out how Homer stopped looking for Marge just to yank the phone out of the guy’s hand just to say that and hang up?! 🤣
That always kills me 😂😂
He was fighting Gamblor!
I love that bit because it has nothing to do with smashing the establishment. Dude was probably calling his own family!
That's right, Florida is a monster!
lol your avatar makes it funnier cuz it's like the baby turtle is saying it
I was gonna ask if that was a shot at Florida, it had to have been right?
*floreda
No, Illinois is. :P
Fyck florida
You have to give Homer points for at least trying, he doses his best but he found making a rubber costume really difficult.
He did better than I would have. I wouldn’t even know where to start if I had to make that costume.
@@silentsmurf Very true.
i like how marge just easily opens the "barricaded" door
1:45 when Homer tosses the shotgun it goes off accidentally. That little joke has GOT to be a John Swartzwelder gag...the early episodes that he wrote are classics, and definitely my favorites, by far.
Swartzwelder was a great writer… but he didn’t write this one. It was written by Greg Daniels who developed the American version The Office and also co created King of the Hill with Mike Judge. So of course, a guy who helped make great shows was talented enough to write episodes like these. Other episodes that Greg Daniels wrote were Bart Sells His Soul , Homer Badman and also THOH horror segments Devil and Homer Simpson and Time and Punishing.
As a kid, I thought this was funny. As an adult, I realise how sad this episode is. That's the genius of early Simpsons writing.
By adulthood, some of us have gone through our own rounds with addiction and can relate with Marge.
The most subtle joke is at 1:36 when the door actually opens to the outside and the barricade is useless.
all these years and i never realized...
Fast Forward Videos I don't see any shot showing something else. Perhaps you're seeing the close up shot of the door with a wrong perspective? Also, think about it - how does Marge open the door so easily if it's to the inside? Knowing the Simpsons' writers, they wouldn't gloss over such a detail, definitely when there's a low hanging practical joke they can insert
I think the door opening to the inside is only for visual effects.
That joke with the barricade is intended, the chairs etc, are falling outside of the room.
The door opening inside is the mistake.
Door opens to the inside. Watch it again.
@@marks6663 So how does marge open it so easily with all those items blocking it?
the fact homer wins the most money and doesn't care has me in tears
Jurassic54Life that is a man on a mission
The way he kicks in Bart’s door! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Always cracks me up, and when he gets right up in Bart's face when he's explaining the imminent threat of the Boogeyman/Boogeymen.
@@hihowareyouthen *Bart screams*
I love that 60 dollars is enough to completely change Homer’s mind
1:46 I love how the gun goes off
Gamblor is basically mr burns with a dolphin tail and trident lol
Homer scary face when Lisa tells him about the boogeyman is always so hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 give to the man who animated that expression an Oscar, a Grammy and a Nobel prize!
" If I don't show up in a rubber suit shaped like the state of Florida, I'll be the laughing stock of the whole school!" - A joke that went completely over my head as a kid. Classic Simpsons is brilliant!
I don't get that one??
@@andieallison6792 The joke is that wearing a rubber suit shaped like the state of Florida is ridiculous when you think about it.
I love that Homer knows it was stupid lol. The episodes I grew up watching like this made my childhood haha. We would you quote these episodes in elementary school haha
1:40 seven shotgun shells on the ground? LOL wtf was Homer shooting at?
Lionel Hutz boogeymen and possibly Flanders when he checked to see what was wrong
Destroyahweapon legit accurate
The door, for some reason.
Yeah Marge didn't notice the dead bogeyman laying by the door
@@Destroyahweapon lmao wow. Dead ass laughed my ass off with that comment
I've counted at least three times now including this episode where homer has pointed a gun directly at Marge's face.
I call him Gamblor!!! Has me in stitches ever time
I'm so glad there are other people who find this so funny. You are all wonderful individuals.
When I first saw this I thought you said worthless
I was pleasantly surprised when I double checked
@philastine Well right back at’cha!
so many amazing moments in just 4 minutes
0:39 lol nowadays they just plop some problem gambling pamphlets on a wall XD
Now, after the term "Florida Man" has become a meme even here in Germany, I appreciate these Simpson Cartoons even more!
Aah!! 😱 FLORIDA MAN!
a really underrated joke in this episode is when homer grabs a phone from someone on a call and just says "cant talk now" and keeps running. had me in tears
"I dreamed the boogeyman was after me...."
"ARRRRGGGGHHHHH Boogeyman!!!"
The shotgun going off when Homer throws it down, nice touch 🤣
It's interesting that they show Marge's vulnerabilities through addiction (alcohol in one episode and gambling here) since there's a huge genetic component to it and her sisters are addicted to smoking
Lisa is ungrateful, that is the most accurate florida costume I've ever seen. He matched even the grayish brown color of the land due to the extreme heat and waste everywhere.
Well, Looks like Florida to me
nice edit, condensed episode with the jokes!
Spectacular title too, 10/10.
Since I was a kid I couldn't wait to have children of my own to recreate the boogeyman scene
I love how the shotgun goes off when he throws it. Something about the timing of that joke is so perfect.
this episode produced some of the Simpsons' best scenes
the Gamblor line is EASILY in the top 10 best simpson quotes.
The way he’s animated when he says I call him gamblor. Perfection.
3:35 That _"What?!"_ Sounded like she did nothing wrong and remains guiltless as the modern seasons portrayed her.
"No No! That's too expensive! Just promised me you quit gambling."
“We are required to ask every 75 hours.”
So sweet of Homer to validate Lisa’s fears like that.
