- I ride from Yabelo to Mega, a peaceful happy ride through the southern part of the Oromia region. Before arriving in Mega, some locals give me some food to reward me for my efforts. In Mega, I discover a very remote and muddy town, full of strange characters.

We love you too
The cattle guy said " have you ever seen a lot of cows ?😂
I'm Sudanese I was in Ethiopia, they are friendly people and we love them as they love us.
The people who get out of their car to take a picture were saying "You are a hero in Amaharic". Actually he is a hero.
I must agree. He is doing something to this earth that has never been seen and very difficult.
Yves what a strong man God bless you .
😂😂😂😂...can't get enough of this channel its addictive ...enjoying from comfort warm bed in Africa
Hey Yves,
The guy who said he appreciate you and follow you on instagram, and took selfi with you, also said "gegna new" which means he is a hero in Amharic.
I agree!!
Good luck!!
@15:52 “jegna new!!” “He is a legend” he called you a legend 😍💚💛❤️
Ethiopia and Kenya are working for land locked Ethiopia to use the Lemu port for import and export, in addition to Djibouti port.
Absolutely my favorite traveling channel... You travel as, simply, a person amongst other people! and not - like many other Westerners - as a "superior human" amongst lesser beings. It's refreshing, interesting, and a real learning tool. I love it! Thank You, and be safe!! 👍 💞👍
better than itchy Boots and Bald and Bankrupt?
I needed to break free from the algorithm. This was amazing to discover
Yves, this "Kolo" (fried barley) is very good for digestion.
I went through Mega when I went to Kenya by foot in 1987.
The city looks the same...even worse
you are a brave man!you are crossing’s all over the Ethiopian territory !🙏🏾👍🏽✌🏽🕊️🇪🇹
Yves ….I’ve never seen anyone relish a Snickers bar like you did ❤️🤣
The Landscape is beautiful…..Thank you for sharing your journey ❤🇬🇧
journey with kino Yves is great and enjoying
Woww!!!
Your level of tolerance, patience and humility amongst all other great characters you have is astonishing.
I enjoy your videos every Saturday while eating my lunch.
Very interesting videos Yves,!!! I have followed your entire journey through Ethiopia. I worked in Ethiopia in 2017 and 2018, I am still learning Amharic .
A tent on top of a bed 😂! Great video as ever.
Your humility always amazes me Yves, keep exploring.
Beautiful moment of appreciation got me tearing up a bit.
By the way, great snickers moment, I laughed so hard I almost peed! 😂😂😂 thank you Yves.
I have followed your entire journey through Ethiopia
Even me not explored my Ethiopia like you. You made and keeping a History for your kids.
1:49 The message of Christ was first brought to Ethiopia by an Ethiopian Eunuch in about 80AD after visiting Israel. So it was Ethiopians who first embraced Christianity 1000's of years before the first white missionary ever stepped foot in Ethiopia. Many American or European missionaries who come to Ethiopia don't realise this. Ethiopia is about 70% Christian while USA and UK are less than 40%. So its more likely that people hear about Christianity from Ethiopians and not the other way round. Islam came to Ethiopia 600 years after Christianity
@Not really. Greek-speaking-Syrian monks brought christianity to what is today northern Ethiopia (Eritrea/Tigray). Then, a group of Greek, Turkish (Byzantine) & Egyptian monks collectively known as "The Nine Saints of Ethiopia/Abyssinia" spread christianity to tribes in northern Ethiopia, built the famous monasteries such as Debre-Damo & translated the very first bible into Geez (local language) from the Greek language. And, the first attempt was made to translate the bible into the Amharic (official language of Ethiopia) some 1500 (?) years later, ALSO by foreigners aka by Arabic-speaking Egyptian monks (Copts) who served in Ethiopia. But, that version of the bible contained many errors & was inaccurate. Finally, the complete & a bit more accurate bible was translated again in 1962 G.C. -aka more than 1700 years after christianity was first introduced into northern Ethiopia! - but mostly via the hard-work/effort of white men (British), who have mastered BOTH the Egyptian-Arabic (source language of the bible to be translated) & the Amharic (the official language of Ethiopia). This 'final & definitive Amharic bible' was launched by Emperor Haile Selassie in 1962 G.C. - that is 1600 years after christianty was introduced into northern Ethiopia by the mentioned Greek-speaking Syrian monks! Nearly ALL bishops who headed the Ethiopian orthodox church were Arabic-speaking Coptic/Egyptian monks sent as bishops to Ethiopia from the city of Alexandria, located on the Mediterranean sea. The first native+black/Ethiopian bishop appointed as head of "the Ethiopian orthodox church" was approved by Egyptian bishops in Alexandria, only in the early 1960s G.C. (1700+ years after christianity was introduced to Ethiopia by white/Greek/Syrian monks)! This was the time when most African countries got their independence from their colonial masters. @That is: the Ethiopian/Abyssinian orthodox church was a COLONIAL OUTPOST of the Egyptian orthodox church. OK? @ALSO: A KEY REFERENCE: .. BY: Ullendorff, Edward. Oxford University press, 1968 G.C.).
@yaballo1 You're wrong, the Word of God tells when Christianity came to Ethiopia on Act 8 : 26
@@Lemlem7682lol when you argument can only be backed by the bible, then its not a great argument.
@xmateinc You talk about Christian, but at the same time, you don't believe in the Bible, but the foundation of Christianity is the word of God that is the Bible..not a story.. you need to read it yourself. It well heal you and your soul and body and spirit. The word of God is a 💊 .
@@Lemlem7682 I’ve read the Bible, thats why I know its just a book of stories. People can convince themselves of anything. Look at the natural world around you and its easy to see there is no creator that wants us to worship them a certain way. If Christianity is right then god is a psychopath, that says he loves you but if you don’t live way he wants then its off to hell forever. Sounds like any other abusive relationship. I find most religious people have a hard time accepting reality, so they wall themselves in to a really small world, and are happy being told what to do by the Bible. Religion does nothing but try and make you feel guilty for being yourself and wants you to act a certain way under fear of burning in hell forever.
I'm sure that you've inspired millions of people to make their own recumbent tadpole tricycles. 👍
15:52 they said you "Jegena new" which means "he is a hero"
Yves I’m really enjoying your trip in Ethiopia .👍
Thanks to the the driver and his accompany because they invites our sweet mangos and unlimited Ethiopian hospitality.
@Kino: thanks a lot for another very nice video on southern Ethiopia. Your effort to master local forms of greetings is very impressive too. PS: yes, 1) - "Akkami?" (Oromo language) = Hi/hello? 2) - "nagumaa"? = are you well? 3) - Galatoma = thank you. The same forms of greetings are used in northern/eastern Kenya too where the Borana (Oromo) language is used along Swahili. But, in Kenya the locals speak a much better English & are more familiar with ferenjis/muzungus/white people. So, you will have less difficulties to communicate with the ordinary people in northern Kenya. @Also, that road was built decades ago (1970s) as part of the Cairo-to-Cape Town 'Trans-African Highway'. It was meant to bring the African countries closer via trade, etc. But, that has not happened. To begin with, only sections of that highway were completed. For example, the Kenyan part (Moyale-to-Isiolo, 700Kms?) was completed/asphalted only 2 years ago. The road project was financed by the World Bank. Safe trip!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Indeed, Very informative.
there is so much to learn in this world, comments like these remind me of that
You are an amazing human being, eating with the locals and experiencing life as it is lived! Through your videos I learnt a lot about my own country, many of these places I have never visited.
😂😂😂..The funny magic bike is back on the road again😂
Ur observation about people from outside Africa always wanting to convert we Africans from our traditions n believes ...let people live how they want
I so wish he went to Tigray and places like Lalibela 😢 that would have been so epic
🤣🤣😂The ending of the video was hilarious asf 🤣😂😂
You're very sweet to the people you incounter even if they can be a bit annoying, we respect that. You're very brave.
Respect to the motel/hotel man in every rural ciry coz visiters wouldn't have a place to say for the night. Please help them as much as you can coz with their small capacity they managed to build a place where visiters can rest for the night. Powtive vibes
Very beautiful perspective!
Salamno my friend !
I kid you not, I'm so syncronized that I said to myself "you-you-you" when you took to the road, and the VERY NEXT THING THAT HAPPENED was someone saying "you-you--you" xD Incredible
Contente de visiter ces lieux à travers ton regard et es ressentis, Yves
A bientôt pour la suite😊
Câlin depuis l'Égypte 🌴
I love the way you live simply and enjoy life as it comes. The tricycle & the way you cycle though 😅 is what caught my eyes. I wish people everywhere were as friendly and welcoming even when you look different. The world would've been lovely!
Watching your videos on Ethiopian New Year!! 🌻🌻Melkam Addis Amet!!! 🌻🌼🌻🌼
The cow guy was saying "kana garte taka" meaning "have you ever seen this?". He was asking if you've ever seen cows or something

Beautiful video, the bike ride with the landscape and the misty cloudy weather, just awesome!
Stay safe.
Great video again. The hotel is really a light nightmare.
The roads are great, very impressed. I have also been to places in Ethiopia like the hotel you staid at. I guess it isn't nice but paradoxically one manages somehow, the lack of water and the lack of cleanliness at times. After a long day, I found I could fall asleep anywhere! It made me really appreciate the days when I did stay at really good clean places with water! Cant wait for the next ride! So green. Ethiopia is so beautiful. Thanks for posting.

Wow...that's a seriously straight road! Good to see you had a peaceful ride. Since you have a tent, maybe you can consider camping. There are some really good spots you can camp that have decent facilities.
Be safe and enjoy your trip , currently living in Canada, but born and lived in Mega for some time , that's actually my cousins hotel you're staying at.

You are a hero, that’s what the guys who gave you mango in the outskirts of Mega said in Amharic. Jegina neh. I agree with them, you are amazing. I wish you a safe journey to South Africa.
The man on the car on the way to mega finally said “jegena” meaning Hero. You are the ambassador to the countries that you visited. Thank you for introducing my Ethiopia for the people who don’t know about it. Bonne voyage.
That hotel wow you have great fortitude and resilience . No water. But at least a bed to sleep. Stay safe
I am FANO 🇲🇱...The government make us to fight with this beautiful oromo people. We love them and they are our brothers.
Another great day for you!! Bravo! Pitch the tent on top of the bed! 😂😂 yes I think it’s a good idea!
I am enjoying your vlogs. I’m learning a lot watching your travels. I would like you to carry some sanitizing items when you travel: disinfectant wipes to clean tables, toilets and places you touch; Lysol disinfectant spray; hand wipes to clean your hands before/after you eat on the side of the road; place a mat on the ground to place your sardines on rather than putting your food on the ground. Continue to enjoy yourself. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Also, the hand wipes are important so you can clean your hands after shaking so many people’s hands. Just a suggestion
Kino yves, I like your travel videos especially in Ethiopia, I have been there in 2011 in mei when osama bin Laden got killed now am living in Canada 🇨🇦

Thanks Yves we enjoy the journey with you, at 1:46 you said something about Turkish gentle man who comes to change the way of living which is untrue !!! People use to think negatively about religion you are a man of intelligence and I don't want to explain myself and yes I'm hundred percent with you those who comes with agenda and trying to push their beliefs down the throat of this poor people this is we don't like. Thx again from wounded Sudan and be safe.

Yeah he mentioned in one of his earlier ethiopia videos that farenji is derived from “French”
