I remember this guy. He came from Fight Sports Miami (Cyborg's gym.) I never rolled with him personally but I saw several of his rolls and he was a good, in-control training partner. Also Marcelo doesn't go HAM on people in the gym.
Love these breakdowns of base, posture. structure, frames & levers. The commentary is really helping me to understand this vast and beautiful Art/Game. Cheers RVV
Ah so this is why this video is getting traction lol. Thanks man, I don't do breakdowns all the time due to copyright risks but I have quite a bit for you to binge!
What is cool is that from studying the BJJ 101 guard retention materials, watching the ITT collar tie guard retention seminar on YT and buying Ryan Hall’s defensive guard and Jeff Rockwell’s sit-up escape system (recommended by you guys), this roll made total sense to me and I saw what was about to happen. You guys rock.
You just earned another subscriber! I would love more Marcelo breakdowns, like when he fought the Estima brothers, and if possible some Joao Miyao and Craig Jones, player.
If he was determined to build up he should have tried to displace Marcelo's base with a bridge and knee to the hip. Then build up from a position further down by Marcelo's left hip. You can see when he built up here that he was directly under Marcelo and his head and neck was open by Marcelo's right arm. Not great placement.
ANY initiation that does not begin from Standup is pure Bull. Marcelo starts in butterfly... A wet dream for the uninitiated and has long been the secret to controlling the less experienced top player. No. He had inside sits on his azz and waits for the other guy to play into his game. No butt scooters! Pushing from a frame is a pure indication that the guy in red is a novice. Moreover, when Marcelo turns into the guy in red again shows the red shirt guy is a novice. The knee cut only requieres guy in red to point knees up and get ashi garami
You forgot to mention that Marcelo is being very nice to his student. Lol. Marcelo doesn't kill us when training even though he could. Lol.
Just commenting so that more people find this Amazing content
