“TrY thAt aT HaULOVer bRO!” It’s a pontoon built on a jet ski hull. It’s gonna get beat up. That’s not what it’s for. You just watch too much boating UA-cam.
I really like this thing, it is so versatile. Fishing, tubing, cruising, whatever. And considering what pontoon boats go for and the engine costs... this is a really nice price point.
Excellent innovation by Sea Doo! Really looking after the recreation community with the jet propulsion system and the modular seating. Excited to try one out!
To add a little regarding the 3 sizes, each one, adding on a 3' section. - the 13 has no swim platform. The 18 is really a 16 with a 2' swim platform, and the 21 is really a 19 with a 2' swim platform. A swim platform could be added to the 13, (making it a 15) by buying the parts and installing it yourself. SeaDoo, according to Watercraft Journal, won't sell it that way because if it is over 13' it requires more mandated features (emissions? I can't remember specifically what he said) and would jack the cost up.
Excellent presentation. I looked out of curiosity but your voice, method of presentation and the enthusiasm in the tone of your voice has me interested. Well done.
Would love to see a duck hubting special edition. Make it camo with higher sides for attaching vegetation and some kind of flip back top cover with bench seats. Could make a cool duck boat.
Yeah, every boat review is always on a nice day, but if I was gonna buy this thing to take my family out, I’d be way more interested on how it handles when that unexpected storm pops up.
Tbh had the 21 footer it wasn't bad in 2 to 4 foot waves it just felt very unstable compared to a regular pontoon of the same side I did love the ability to get into shallower water
This looks fun and versatile, I would hope the price simmers down a bit as supply increases. Everything has its pros and cons, it’s about finding what fits your style best. Sure plastic is more fragile, but can be formed for better manoeuvring than the traditional logs. I’d like to see under the deck how everything’s attached, and if there’s some strength/stress support. I would think with the higher HP and somewhat light weight that it planes quick and “hopefully” handles chop well. With the ability to move chairs and benches around the deck, I can understand the lack of flooring options that some are complaining about. I mean… carpet doesn’t belong on a boat anyways, it’s only good for catching sand, mold, and fishhooks… but I’m curious how “non slip” the current deck is. In due time I hope they catch up with other options like, pedestal tables and bbq’s, lighting, sound system, seating upgrades etc. And maybe even add a sport-fish version with livewell, rod holders, swivel pedestal seats etc. I can’t imagine these are great on fuel, but what boat with enough power is? Every boat costs to fuel and maintain… hell, that’s what BOAT stands for: Bring Out Another Thousand. I’m near a lot of wide open shallow salt water… and something like this definitely has my attention. Thanks for the review!
As I read these comments I see people who rather than admire the Sea Doo Switch for having the speed &maneuverability of a pwc combined with the capacity and stability of a tritoon (or pontoon), criticize it because it doesn't also have the looks of a traditional boat, the durability of Old Ironsides, and the price of a bass boat.
LOL you're so wrong. It's an injection molded plastic boat that is under powered with more than one person, and that's not safe. I do admire the fact they charge over 30K and people willingly pay that.
I took delivery of a 2024 switch exactly like this one. I only have 3 hours on it. It's still slow..😢😢 I can't wait to take it out tomorrow morning and break her in!!!! And part of the reason I bought this particular model is because of videos like this one...
@@rashick11 i wouldn't know, i'm just getting in to boating. i understand it's not a speed boat, but it sounds like it clips along pretty good, for what it is i like this for the price point, but the fishing pro trophy might be more what I'm after.
I remember when SUVs first came out and they were for people that needed the practicality of a larger vehicle but buying a Mom's Minivan was out of the question! I'm looking for a smaller fishing boat, I do mostly lakes but have properties on the FL coast too, so this seems like the cool toy! Seems like SeaDoo thought of everything and evolved with the times too. The only thing I could think of adding is a bait live well, and maybe spot lock but those can be added on from other manufacturers.
It sure looks like fun. I'm wondering about any downsides. Is there a danger of damaging the propulsion system by sucking up sand (as with a regular Sea-Doo)? Will the composite structure hold up as well as aluminum when striking a dock or shore? What will repairs cost? How noisy is it when trolling?
All good questions. Being a new product only time will tell. You have to hope that BRP build a good product - it looked like it from the time we tested it.
Ok, I just was at the boat show today and there’s a button that reverses the propulsion system and clears the intake. Insanely handy, because you don’t want to be up under the boat all the time trying to clear the intake. But it’s still more of a risk than a normal prop motor.
If you could buy that boat as testsd for 30k. Id have one. But for 45k. There are a ton of other options especially in the used boat market. I thinknthe 13ft version will be a big seller. Cause its basically a big jet ski and i could see it being fun to jump around on. But tgese bigger models are priced up there with other quality boats that offer real comfort and utility
I love seeing all the ole timers complaining about it and stating they'd be embarrassed being seen on it 😅 meanwhile the rest of us see the potential for actual fun watersports at the lake! And people saying it's slow? 45mph in the water is not slow. Sure it'll be slower loaded up and with the average family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids... But it'll be plenty fast. This is not in the same market as an antiquated pontoon. Many of us have never even considered a pontoon until THIS The smaller ones specifically are not huge party pontoons, so why the comparison from the nay sayers? Because they're haters hahahaha
This looks good to me. You can probably take it up a river too - plastic hull / jet drive flat bottom looks like it planes really high too.. Thinking of buying one. looks great for a over all boat for everything. I wonder if I can tow it with my jeep (I do have a pickup also but just wondering on how it is to tow).
Ours hit 45mph and had an random issue at full rpms could only go 20mph. Then got it serviced and now top speed is 34mph. No idea what happened. Said everything checked out right and it's still under warranty so they did a full diagnostic and check
Looking forward to it, have one ordered. 18' Cruise model. Wanted it last year, but they sold out SUPER quick, spent the summer on a Fish Pro Trophy instead, which was a complete hoot. My dog isn't a fan though, so the Switch should be an improvement there! Seems like it could be a ton of fun.
That was my concern. How would the pup like the fish pro trophy. He'd have to sit in front of me all the time, so I know he hasn't jumped ship. haha, but I like the functionality of it
Is there throttle lock so you don't have to always squeeze the trigger? If not that takes away from the cruising around feeling a regular pontoon gives!
Hi, we just bought a 2023 21-foot, 230HP Switch Sport. First time out, it maxed at 6000rpm and 30mph. I've been told it's in a "break in" period but I haven't found anything indicating how long that period lasts and when I'll be able to experience the 45mph you had in your video. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Had 2 BRPs had a lot of trouble out of them pretty early, could imagine paying 38k for one of these, and how long before it fades.I purchased a value model Bennington 10 k less than that piece of plastic, becareful.
Agree, these are WAY WAY overpriced. I'm not paying 30K for a PWC with a plastic dock wrapped around it. I saw one last year and the build quality and materials are shockingly bad. You hit an underwater obstacle, and it happens to the best of us a regular pontoon might dent, but this plastic SHATTERS! I would not recommend these water craft.

2 year owner of a switch 230 sport and regret buying it. The trailer brakes malfunctioned in less than 350 miles and not under warranty. 150 of those miles were to and from a good but far away dealer because my local dealer sucks and refused to honor the service contract, sold my accessories to other customers and tried passing off used accessories to me as new ones. The radio amp killed the battery. The amp and harness were warrantied but not the battery. The dealer refused to honor my service contract. They built too many of them in 2024 so that the value is now down 10K so I can't sell mine without loosing 1/3 of the supposed value. The mooring cover holds water and the straps tear off. There's no factory service manuals available so once it's out of warranty you're screwed. Mine took 4 tanks of gas before it started running like it should as if it was in some kind of break in mapping. If you remove the wake board mast you need a big rubber mallet to hammer it back into place.
I like the jet idea for safety with kids and dogs swimming around. You handled getting that boat on the trailer really well for having some side current to deal with. If it were me I'd have sent the kids into the water to line it up.
How bad are these on gas? Is a day on the water a $50 proposition? $100? $250? $500? Looks like great family fun. Does the switch behave very differently with several people on board?

These boats aren’t working. I reserved one last year, it arrive at the dealer 2 months ago. I went in, paid for it, had to get insurance on it, and THEN they told me that BRP already has a recall on the cooling system. Been waiting 2 months for “a clip” I’m told. Dealer has no time estimate, called BRP multiple times and they just keep giving me dates when “some parts will be in the warehouse” but won’t give any estimate of when parts will go where. Then the dates they give come and go with no parts at the dealer. Makes me feel like BRP has no idea what they are doing….
I actually really like these but my worry is servicing after awhile. I have a seadoo jet boat and I can not find a dealer that will service it. They won't touch the boats and after seeing the engine compartment the switch looks much harder to work on. Even independent mechanics are almost nonexistent within 100+ miles of me that will work on the boats. I'm afraid the switch will end up following suit like the boats.

Great job guys..HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE ✌️
Can these be fitted with sea legs?
Great video. First glance I thought Seth Rogen was testing it out.
Is it me or is 2,100lbs seeming heavy for a small boat? I don't know squat. Cheers!
I’d rock one
We like to buy but guide us How we can buy, do you have branch in philippines?
good video thanks, going to go look at one 🤠
Awesome review, and very helpful on giving the basic overview!👍
Glad it was helpful!
This seems really cool but I honestly wonder who this is for. I've never been on my family pontoon and thought wow I wish this thing could carve corners.
It’s for people who don’t live on lakes who want a speed boat that can carry a ton of people, and easy to drive
It’s not for boomers…
@@guvmint4300 I'm 18 and I don't think it's for me either
@@thiswasalpine7171 see the comment/review above from @TheAbristol ☝🏽
@@thiswasalpine7171 Comment said it bogs down with 4 big guys in it..
That is the coolest goddamn pontoon I've ever seen.
Looks neat in the Gulf with NO WAVES, so I wonder how it handles in the oceans and places with waves.
There's a video out there that shows a guy wave jumping off Sebastian inlet. So, they handle waves pretty good.
That's awesome!
Great for rescue boats.. should be used by all lifeguards/coastal guards
I didn’t know they made them that small.
Can i store it on a lift?
love your content, but you need to do speed runs with a GPS, the dash displays are always wrong...
Windshield?
