Hi Eli, good to hear or start to hear your information. I appreciate your return to the basics. I hope you get a lot of response to your Dojo.
When you need to know it, you NEED to know it...but you generally don't need to know it. The best explanation I've heard of IT since the first Eli video I watched.
Boss is back
Eli, I am still here at the end. Great information. I am glad I am retired. I created IP addresses for devices devices to keep a logical numbering system. It did not comply with any proper order;. If I knew this before, I would not have messed up so much to try to make the numbers logical based on areas. I did create different networks by accident. Great information I wish I had back then. Great information.
Perfect timing Eli. I have a test on Tuesday and part of it is on Subnet Mask. Thank you!
It's weird, I mean I know it's 2022, but we have some old school Eli going on here. Good stuff.
Quite informative, the basic principles are relative to that of musical understanding, and glad Eli, you've explained Octets.
There are 10 types of people in the world !
Those who understand the binary number system and those who don't !
Thanks for the awesome video. Still got LOADS to work out but this has definitely helped put me on the right track. MUCH APPRECIATION & RESPECT!!!
You are the best tutor I came across. Keep rocking Eli 👍
Thank you for all you do Eli.
Enjoy your night.
Good subnet mask lesson. I'm going to watch this lesson over again, to fully understand it. Thanks for this lesson.👍
I’m taking a Cisco class and this really helps!! Thank you so much!
This is great! Really broke it down with enough detail that I feel it’s understandable!
Awesome Eli, thanks for sharing the basics
I really like you covering "basics", would appreciate more
Thank you for such a clear explanation. You are a great instructor!
Awesome tutorial 👌
I do need a beer to start off
Thanks Eli
Thanks for the lesson computer guy
I ran into subnets that violated an RFC, a firewall was a Sun (that allowed illegal subnets) it had 4 interfaces (internet, company network & 2 business2business zones. I found this out trying to fix a routing problem. Most of our unix hardware was HP9000 and it did NOT allow the illegal subnets. The bosses were very snippy about having to admit to a customer that we (consultants made for us) a mistake and needed to adjust a subnetmask and change a server IP address.
In IPv6, subnet masks are practically non-existent. The first 64 bits are the network and the remaining 64 bits are host identifiers derived from a MAC address in each device on the network.
Wow that actually made a moderate amount of sense.
Now we need a class on VLSM =D
you are the best
Total magic!
Amazing and really awesome lecture👍. Can we say that Subnet Mask is doing something with and (&) operator with actual ip and mask and the result is a network?
If, for example, you're only setting up a home system, can you turn off icmp and then just remember to turn it on if you need to use it? Or are there other functions outside of pinging that require it?
All that is missing from this video is a Back to the Future clip: "Last night Darth Vader came down from the planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't ask Loraine out, he would melt my brain!"
Thanks man, subnets are fun. Just have to get the math down.
This is archaic stuff to learn, sorry guy.
we want controversial content
