The fact that I have to come to UA-cam to get a better education than what I'm getting in a Univeristy is crazy. I got so confused in my lectures that I had to come here to actually figure out what to do. Big thanks man!
This one was explained pretty nicely, not like the one I had at my work place where the guy was just talking about numbers without showing examples. I fell asleep 3 times on that day.
I have finals in 9 days and in one hour of watching your videos I have learned sub-netting. Multiple tutors I went to didn't explain it correctly and confused me. My teacher confused me. I was told I would fail. Not anymore! Thank you so much!! subscribed!
I'd just like to say that this video has helped me massively. I've recently starting to pivot into cyber security and I couldn't understand subnets and IP addressing. This, and lesson 1 has made things so much easier for me to understand. Thank you so much for making it so simple to understand! Great teacher!
Started my introduction into subnetting and my head almost immediately exploded. Then I found this gem. They way you explain this makes it so a 6th grader could figure this out. Thanks a ton.
Best subnetting video on youtube. A lot of others teach either only the binary method or only the table method, but you combine both and make it all really clear. If you watch this video 4-5 times you will be a subnetting master.
Totally agreed! I'm at Starbucks right now with scratch paper and pencils subnetting lol I'm completely new to this field switching careers and I actually understand because of how he explains it
One of the best networking videos I have come across on UA-cam. You explain things so well and the fact that you take the time to go through multiple examples is just brilliant, thank you.
Thanks for putting this up. I am in my first year of IT classes and following you teaching is easier than my Instructor. Mind you I am a 50 year old former truck driver so that is saying something.
I am not one to leave comments, but this time I have to. Finally, I get it. I am currently taking a cybersecurity course and I was literally getting panic attack with subnetting. You provided clarity beyond belief. Believe it or not even your tone of voice helped as you are so patient, calm and relaxed in explaining it. You did not speak super-fast like other videos I've seen, thanks a million. You have the gift of teaching. Have a great day. Do you accept interns?
Hi Karen, thank you for the kind words as we do put alot of effort into our training :) It is possible for us to take on interns in some cases depending on what it is.
Thank you! I'm working on subnetting in my networking class and the book just made it confusing. Seeing these worked out step by step helped tremendously!
I 'm reading a distance course about computers and networks and I've had a lot of thoughts on this! Just have to say that this 20 min tutorial straightened out all of my question marks after googling around for several hours in days! Thanks so much! This is great!
I was confused on this with so many other resources, but this video made me understand it so easily and I learned that amazing way of converting binary to decimal. Thanks so much
Thanks for the video! I was feeling pretty discouraged and could not wrap my mind around subnetting. After watching this I am feeling much more confident! Thank you for the different kinds of examples, I actually had fun figuring it out.
I graduated IT school from OK State, and couldn't find a job in IT. So to keep my skills and knowledge up, I watch these vids for refresher!! Thanks :-)
I'm currently taking courses in Coursera to get my IT Support Certification. There is literally just and 8 minute video on subnetting!! I was in tears because I thought it was just so difficult that I just wouldn't get it. After watching this video, I'm still a little shaky but I have a much better understanding of what's going on and feel like I can actually do this!
Im taking the same course and it led me here. I was just commenting with a friend that i have not only learned but understood subnetting with this video. I cannot show my appreciation enough. Subscribed too 😀
New to networking and appreciate your UA-cam video on subnetting. Learned a lot. Great you provided a few examples. You've made it clear on how to obtain the network address.
OMG i just found your video and I have always had trouble to wrap my head around some of this. The way you teach is AMAZING. I cant explain how much i appreciate this video. I will be subscribing and following all of your videos. I am prepared to learn my tale off. THANKS
Hey, i went through 5 different videos trying to find a clear explanation. You are by far the most succinct and down to the point tutor. Thank you so much for making my life easier! :)
Oh my god... Thanks a lot for this explanation. Trying so hard to understand it but found it first time and very easy to understand. God bless you brother...I am so happy to understand the concept.
Why is it that you went through so much detail and made it so easy for me to understand whereas others who have way more subscribers have a hard time explaining this concept. Thanks for making such great content.
DearJacob Hess, Hi. When u say, "subnet mask- Network mask; subnet ID- network ID- they r all generally the same term", it clears up my clogged brain. My teacher never explained the definitions of these and he took me deep down in IP addressing. 3/4 classes I kept thinking what are the differences between these terms. But now I am confident that I can help my co-students about how to find out Subnet mask from CIDR & vice versa, Network ID from subnet mask and IP address. I also understood why IPV4 addresses are 32 bits (because of 4 octets), Broadcast address and usable/available Host IDs I can have. I subscribed ur channel and will enjoy more lectures, I can promise. Thank you.
You expressed many things clearly and I learned many things about IP address and subnet mask. Very good teacher I've ever seen. A lot of thanks for you.
I have made numberless efforts to understand subnetting, your explaination made me truely understand it for the first time. Please continue to publish more networking videos. Thank you
Have been studying this for 2 hours on this video by writing the things I see in the video, and really think about what is what... And now I fully understand all parts you are showing in the video and how to use it at work. Thank you so much! :)
I do not know how to thank you! I am struggling in trying to understand the concept of subnet masks and CIDR. The instructor isn't fully explaining this section. Your explanation is clear and concise. I am so happy I have found your channel. Thank you!
Thank you SO MUCH for this! I’ve been searching for explanations and videos to understand this for the past week, and this is by far the best explanation I’ve come across. You explain this so incredibly well! Thank you so much!
I remember when I first watched this video it was like...MIND BLOWING :D When u meet these numbers all the time but u don't know the logic behind them...and one day comes the revelation and u are like some blind man who just got to see for the first time. XDXD
I am currently preparing for an AMS-zure certification and in none of the online tutorials, this part is explained in any way, even not in paid ones. So I am really happy that I found this tutorial. Thanks for that!
You made most confusing yet most important networking concept for a DevOps guys coming from Development background a super easy to understand and come handy whenever needed.... Thanks indeed !!
Finally I found what I've been looking for! It took me weeks to find right explanation. So many videos about subnet mask on you tube that don't teach you about subnet mask but only confuse you more. It's really hard to find good explanation so you could understand it. YOU ARE A GREAT EXAMPLE OF TEACHING. Please keep doing that, we need it! Especially in IT world.
It's almost 3am and I've been through numerous videos on subnetting and this is the best! I hardly ever comment or compliment, so this is big! Will be subscribing to learn a lot more from this channel. Thank you so much!
I'm doing an online course and I could not understand exactly what they were putting together. Thank you for the video having a visual with clear explanations made it make sense. 👍 Thank you. I plan to use more of your vids when I need to for a better understanding on other topics when needed
Just a little info: I like the online courses but it is harder than being in an actual class bc you may not always get a good explanation even with the LABS etc
OMG man thank you so much. Many other videos don't explain how you actually use the binary mask to get the Network ID. This is what actually made it click for me. So with .../26 you have 4 subnets. 1- Neither of the first two bits (.0) 2- The first bit only (.128) 3- The second bit only (.64) 4- Both of the first two bits (.192) SUBSCRIBED
I am taking the Google IT Support Professional Certificate course. I am paying them to teach me this stuff. They covered subnetting very poorly and you have helped me so much to understand it. They need to hire you to rewrite their courses. Thank you! ♥
i was struggling a little with subnetting/subnet masks while doing the compTIA network + 10-007 and this might possibly be the BEST educational video i have ever watched...Bravo guys
So good. I went to multiple other sources including my instructor and I just wasn't getting it. I felt really stupid for not understanding, but once I found this video it started clicking for me. This is such a reasonable way to explain it. I wish everyone did it this way. Thanks!
Yesterday I resumed my CCNA classes, I dropped the classes because of a health issue. I already learn and did subnetting in ITN, now I'm in SWRE and came here to refresh my knowledge. Thanks a lot for your videos! (I watched them since ITN and even I save them in a playlist full of these IT and CISCO topics)
This video was really good. I have watched many videos on subnetting, and neither those videos or my lectures in college have made it understandable for me. But with these videos it has become a lot clearer. Thank you!

did you drop your school yet?
congrats!
same! the other tutorials are so confusing and this is the best I've ever found yet, love it
That's why people shouldn't be going to school. They should stay at home and watch UA-cam.
Don't let people tell you, "you're not going to make it", "this is too hard for you". No, dig your heels in and show them otherwise!!
Went through multiple websites but none were satisfactory this explanation is perfect! Thanks!
100% Agree. None were clearer than this.

You're the only one so far that has explained in a way I can understand easily. Best explanation by far. You make it so easy. Thank you!
This is the best presentation I have seen subnetting. You make the subject interesting and speak with clarity and passion.
I am not one to leave comments, but this time I have to. Finally, I get it. I am currently taking a cybersecurity course and I was literally getting panic attack with subnetting. Hi Karen, thank you for the kind words as we do put alot of effort into our training :) It is possible for us to take on interns in some cases depending on what it is.
Simply outstanding. As a former teacher, I love to look at instructional videos that simplify complex topics. Excellent work.
since I'm a visual learner, this helped SO much. Much appreciated!
