- (Update!) The ps3 store and vita stores are not closing anymore. Sony had a change of heart.
As promised, here's a follow up video to the PlayStation 3 store closing. 50 plus games you should buy now from the PlayStation digital store before it closes. I mean right Frakin NOW! with the fear of the PlayStation store closing in July of this year, I've made a list of games to add to your digital libraries and I've also added instructions on how to redownload your items once the store closes.

@@lennylalamba5366 Shutdown of the store and Sony have no incentive at all to keep the servers online for you to re-download your older titles. Once that goes down, you better pray your HDD or CMOS battery doesn’t die, otherwise say goodbye to all your digital purchases.
@@InputArchive Fr. my old account got hacked and the only reason a kept my psn games in my ps3 is because my old account was still logged there. till my HDD broke and now that account is long gone with all the games I bought, I just hope to get a couple of psn codes and download some games on my new account before the store closes
That's why i have the installer setup for most of these games on PC. wait is that physical or digital? I mean I don't NEED internet to install them and run them.
The problem is some of these physical games are absurdly expensive and not every game has a physical copy to buy leaving digital as the only option.
I like the fact that you don't come off as the type of UA-camr that chooses popular games just because they popular or you not going against the grain for the sake of it. You truly sound like these are games you enjoy despite what other people opinions are. You get a sub. Keep up the good work.
I hate that they removed the wishlist, it really help when you wanted to buy games when you had the cash.

to help with money i'd focus on exclusives, a lot of the last gen digital only games like hard corps uprising, ducktales, etc. are also on the 360 store and steam, so they aren't going quite the ticking clock that the ps3/vita exclusives are. Likewise, as reggie said, the ps1/2 games can be emulated, real-ish copies are preferable, but if money is limited, you know.
I found a way to use Microsoft rewards point toward getting a PS store gift card but its a bit convoluted.
Don't forget the Ratchet & Clank series, SMT/Persona series, Sly Cooper series, and Yakuza Dead Soul
SMT Nocturne HD is coming to Steam and Persona 4 already has, just saying

@@MrMonkey7000 To be honest, Persona 3 is the main one besides Nocturne and 4 that care about. I would love to see the entire franchise on PC of course. 3DS has several exclusives Persona Q, SMT:4, SMT 4: Apocalypse, SMT: Strange Journey Redux, and a couple others. Not sure if you've got those, but they are very unlikely to be on PC since Nintendo exclusivity. SMT 5 is rumored to be a Nintendo Switch game
Edit: at least eShop isn't going to shut down anytime soon, as far as I understand 3DS, Wii U, and Switch run off same servers
@@EhurtAfy I pretty sure people would like to try the older Persona/SMT titles to see how far series changes throughout the years or was there first games they played. And if Nocturne remastered does good in the States "maybe" we get rest of the SMT/Persona games on modern platforms and if we're really lucky get a modern remake. But until then, this is only legal way to play these classic titles.

Basically, if you want to buy PSN games before the store shuts down, consider these filters:
1. Games that also have difficult to get/expensive physical releases.
2. PSN games exclusive to the PS3/PSP/VITA systems.

I will never understand why they need to do this. Can't be too much of a hassle to keep it going, any games they sell pays for the upkeep. They should outsource the hosting of the PS3 store to a third-party server company to keep it running.

Man the PS3 era of games just hit different. I love that time in gaming, I feel like we got more sillier (in a good way), creative, and fun stuff back then. Not that games currently suck or anything, but there is just something about the kind of games that were released back then.
I think it's fair to say few people will grab every game on this list, but your curation will elevate a lot of forgotten games people didn't know they would want to get, thanks Reggie!

You've truly uncovered some gems for me here and now I can put a plan to try and purchase the games I care for the most before Sony closes the service. It's really a shame they gave us only 3 months to save up for the games that we want to buy. I have been buying PS3 games online gradually over the years since it got first introduced and curated some great ones from your list; however, there are still a dozen more that I want and unfortunately, money is an obstacle, so I'll have to pick and choose which ones are the most important to grab before this happens. Klonoa is a must have. I have owned the physical copy since I was young and it's one of my favorite PS1 games of all time. I might have to buy it digital so I can play it on my vita.

I’m pretty sure once the store is gone you can still download any previously purchased games through your account like Reggie showed at the beginning of his video, I still download my virtual console games on my Wii the same way as long as I bought them previously and that store has been closed for some time now.
I have over 700 games on my ps3 account so your saying I can still download them but once the store closes how do I download them then
@@KonohazFinest when the store closes just go to your account management like Reggie shows at the beginning of his video and download your games of choice that you purchased in the past of course,that feature should still be there! I have just over 1000 and I’m not worried,like I said I can still download my virtual console games on my Wii when I go into my account and go to redownload and the Wii shop store has been shut down for a few years plus now! You shouldn’t have any issue! I can still download games that have been removed from the store because the game is in my purchase history as well.

@@kicknitoldskool hi,you’re not bothering me,no worries. To answer your question,yes,as long as you can go into your account and bring up your download list it will work the same. Remember you can access your vita and psp games on a PS3 through your download list as well then transfer the game to your psp/vita. My honest guess is it’ll all be fine,just no more store to browse.
With sony being anticonsumer and anti-retro gaming lately, im not surprised if they dont allow us to re-download all of our purchased game loool

Put "PSONE" in the search to find all the playstation games
I'm afraid that's not true because the search on consoles is so terrible. I had to use the website to buy PS1 games because the consoles are bad at showing them all and many are pretty much hidden (like Metal Gear Solid doesn't show on PSP or Vita). PSOne doesn't show any PS1 game that doesn't have that in the title (like the Arc the Lad games or Resident Evil Director's Cut, which say "PS3/PSP/Vita"), many PS1 games have that in the title instead of "PSOne".
PSP is just as problem because they don't all show up for Vita. PSN was always a mess with searches except for the website.

Thanks for doing this video Reggie, out of anyone you are a perfect fit for letting folks know about this subject. My main goal for ps3 at this point is to try and collect all of the JRPGs for it before some of the rare ones go full nuclear (physically of course). Erick shouted out an NIS game, digital only, called Legasista for PS3. Don't know if youve seen or played but thought I'd mention it since it looks fun. There is a lot to try to go after but this video is really helpful. Thanks Reggie!

For those who don't know, on the store you can go to "All games" select "Filter" go to "Game Type" and then you can look at all the PS one Classics and PS2 Classics
I used to be able to do that, but recently they've taken away those filter options. All I have when I access the store on my PS3 is PS4, PS3, PSP and PS Vita. At least on the UK store they've taken away the PS1 and PS2 options :(
They used to have a workaround link to the old store which would mean easy access find these games and know how big they are, ect, but Sony just closed the loophole the other day. I still have it open because I was already looking through stuff so I can still do it the easy way, but there was no reason at all for them to close that loophole and block people from using it.
Fantastic list! I'm so happy I started collecting for the PS3 a couple years ago and got some great physical copies so far! Splatterhouse, Neptunia 1, 2, and 3, The Sly Collection, and the Armored Core games just to name a few!
For the PS3, off the top of my head, I would heavily recommend Sonic Unleashed, Puppeteer, Folklore, Tales of Xillia 1 & 2, Tales of Graces f, Tokyo Jungle, Eternal Sonata, Persona 4 Arena 1, Heavenly Sword, Infamous 1/2/Festival of Blood, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and Mortal Kombat 9 Komplete Kollection.

This Daytona USA conversion is perfect, definitely a must have for every fan! There are a lot of Sega games on PS3 for a few bucks... A shame this back catalogue isn't available anywhere else.

I would recommend you check out Zack Zero and Thexder Neo on PS3 before the store closes. Both are digital only and I really like both of them.

One thing to keep in mind, is certain games, like Bionic Commando ReArmed and Final Fight Double Impact, require an online connection in order to function as part of DRM. Fortunately, this only effects the PlayStation 3 version not the Xbox 360 version.
We should all realize that one day we will only be able to play these games through piracy and emulation

Just for future reference, yes it is hard to find ps one classics on ps3, but if you use the filter option you can filter by going to
“games” > “all games”
once in the catalog go to “add filter” > “game type” and there you can find all the different classics ps1 and ps2, minis and so on. Great video Reggie!
It's worth noting that many of these are available on 360 and other consoles as well if you don't feel like giving Sony any more money.
If you are looking for Gaia seed make sure you spell it GAIA and not GIA like in the video. Just a heads up. Thanks Reggie for the heads up on the games we all could miss out on when the store closes. Who knows, maybe if enough people start buying games on PSN again because of videos like this, maybe Sony will keep the store open while longer.

great selections.. I have several of em. Dungeons and Dragons was a good call. I need to pick that one up.. I'd add Deadliest Warrior.. It was overlooked but it's essentially a spiritual successor to bushido blade. I still play it from time to time!

probably want to clarify that a LOT of these games (the non ps1/ps2 ones anyways) are also on the 360 store, and thanks to xbox one/series x/s bc that will likely stay up for years. So you don't necessarily have to run out and buy stuff like hard corps uprising right now, save that money for the vita games in particular that can't be emulated (yet...afaik) and ps3 games that are too rare to buy physical.
That said...buy hard corps uprising, it rules.

I really wish I had bought more games from the PSN when they would do sales, but I always wanted to get physicals when I could. Though had money not been an issue for me, I'd have grabbed as many of these as I could over the years during sales.
I guess one of these days I'll have to turn on the ps3 again and start downloading some games and DLC while I can.
Knowing what I know now I also somewhat regret not getting some of these titles while they were on sale years prior.
The youtube algorithm comes in a pinch , I've been wanting a list of ONLY ON PSN digital games and this is great , I have most of these but more is good. Thanks.

@@leogendary133 ultimately, emulation will preserve most or even all of these games. I am sticking with the legit versions and I noticed the prices vary depending on region. Having multiple PSN accounts comes in handy.
Also some of these PS3 titles I have picked up dirt cheap on PS4 and they come with the PS3 version, sometimes + vita.
Don't forget Bomberman and that Tetris style game called Trash Pile or something. Great video. I needed this

@@tankgrrl Didn’t realize you were summarizing this video when I commented but there are a lot of great JRPGs in the store not mention here so just want to spread the word.
Quite a few more of the games are digital only . I'm only mentioning it because you have digital only next to a few but not most or all of the digital only games
