You can buy Infinity Wars right here! amzn.to/3mNkY5g
I mean. Yes. Sal. You could buy it. But like. Why would anyone do that?
no thank you
Aint no one buying this trash lmao
why would I do that?
As much as I enjoy it when Sal discusses a book he likes, there is something so satisfying watching Sal slowly build with rage and then erupting like a volcano.
Right? Its the lets see Sal taking this book to the godamn dust show
The best Comicpop episodes are the ones they discuss and analyze a good book (like the Mister Miracle episode). However, the bad comic discussions are the most fun to watch
Bro I loved when he went off about alien the comic he is pissed about that shit 😂 all valid points though
I know, right?
That would make for a great series: "Books that Sal loves, but the publisher fuck it up"
Always a good time when Sal calls a book a “horrible mistake“ in the first 30 seconds
I don't know what's better. Stories they like or stories they hate lol
The worse the comic, the better the episode xD
Ya know what usually annoys me is that Sal is so cocksure and damned almost- egotistically definitive about what (in his mind) is terrible or horrible that he just calls it a 100% across-the-board trash. That doesn't leave much room for individual opinion. Just because he thinks and declare something horrible doesn't mean it is. And yeah he's smart, kinda funny and knowledgeable as heck but good Lord. Caped Joel usually has a much better & fair take on things. He's also confident in his opinion but he doesn't tell others they're stupid, which I know I've seen Sal do in the past LOL. Although I have really enjoyed where Sal gets grateful and thankful and everything else during the videos about gifts and mail unboxing.
And what's further annoying on my initial topic is that the other guys on the couch here, Ben & Ethan, usually just join in and agree since they don't know nearly as much about comics and have that experience Sal does. Yeah, I guess he's the boss, but that doesn't make sense that they would bow to him in nearly topic. Sal isn't perfect and just because he has an opinion doesn't always mean it's the right interpretation, factually even. I'm saying he can be wrong even though he might not think he can and it doesn't seem like he acknowledges this very often if ever. I kind of get a little giddy whenever he's called on the carpet for being mistaken. These should have gained enough knowledge since they've been doing this for quite a while now not to follow every whim/opinion of Sal's. It's just too much sometimes. I would have assumed they have their own formulated opinions on things based on facts and not just based on and through Sal's interpretations of things. I guess what I'm saying is they don't have enough or present enough of their own nuanced educated opinion. And I'd like to hear more of that. Oh yeah and I'm only watching this video because of the topic. I generally enjoyed the series and some of it made me nostalgic for the mid-90s amalgam stuff. Sorry for the mini-rant... that aspect has just been bugging me for the longest time. The channel is great otherwise.
@@jasonpye4649 well that’s just, like, your opinion, man
@@ethanrichmond3992 naturally, Morn.
Sal's impression of person looking for comic after seeing movie always brings me joy
Wait this episode came out 9 hours ago, how did you comment a week ago?

I'd argue that Civil War II was a more blatant cash-in, given that the inciting incident of War Machine's death was extrapolated from a misconstrued shot from the trailer for Captain America: Civil War...
Micahel Scally I really dislike CW2 because even if you ignore it is a bad cash cow, it is a bad take on Minority report at the end of the day. The original Civil War had issues, but it was much more cohesive.
true civil war 2 was just garbage and was a cashgrab from the very beginning
The only good think to come from Civil War 2 is The Immortal Hulk.
@@Griffnix that evens out with occupy avengers and Hawkeye being awful
Civil War 2 was a definite cash grab and Bendis' worst possible story. This book is even more so cause it feels so desperate and forgettable.
6:24 Now I just have a hilarious image in my head of Thanos sitting in a darkly-lit room, working tirelessly to cut and polish the Infinity Gems to perfection while also regretting all of his life choices.
This comic needs to exist LOL
To add to your image if i may, we see thanos wearing a welders apron with tiny goggles and saftey gloves huntched over a grind stone.
*Death walks to the doorframe clearly a figment of thanos mind*
Death: honey, come back to bed. * yawn*
Thanos *grumbling* yes sweetheart, just give a few minutes more.
Thanos brain: pretty, pretty SHINY, SHINY!
@Wayne Stop motion Thanos: I think that's why she tried to kill me
He also needs BIG glasses like the guy that restored Woody in Toy Story 2
"Explain this bish!!!" Hahaha, best wrap up ever lol.
That line was freaking cool to cap the episode.
Remember the Infinity Gems? They’re back, in stone form.
Milhouse understands that reference
I hate the stone change, making an integral artifact in marvel, Match a movies error they didn’t think through completely. Change for the sake of change.
Sal's impression of a MCU fan wandering into a comic book store in a fog of desperation for content was actually me once upon a time, except it was clickbait that got me. "DC Makes The *Original* Green Lantern GAY??" I had no idea who Alan Scott was and ended up reading almost 40 issues of New 52 Green Lantern (and then GLC) before asking "WTF is Earth-2".
Mission accomplished?
I can't believe that Doctor Strange would make his own Illuminati with blackjack and hookers before Tony Stark or Namor
I mean... Namor kinda did twice, once during Dark Reign and the other in the lead in to Secret Wars
The existence of Salthan implies somewhere in that universe Biffany exists
Honestly I laughed so hard at that moment 😂
Very excited for the Infinity Warps adventures of Salthan and Tiffaben
Sal on Off the Rack, 26 April 2021: "Infinity Wars is probably the worst book Marvel has put out in the past 10 years."
2 days later, Back Issues on the book.
Aw yeah, it's all coming together.
I think the worst part about this story was that Duggins Gotg run leading into this was really fun, and then THIS happened
Like when Super Sons was ruined by Bendis's Man of Steel.
@@WannabeWryter continuity is below Bendis
The worst part of this book is it completely derailed a pretty good guardians book that was coming out before it
Like when Super Sons was ruined by Bendis's Man of Steel.
That groaning “oh no” Ben makes when Sal brings up Infinity Warps is representative of everyone
Is Sal going to turn into a werewolf again? Looks like he was bitten on the hand again......
The only thing I remember about this event was that it helped resparked people’s memories of the amalgam universe.
7:50 Ethan: Why?
Sal: Fuck you that's why.
Boy, Sal is in a mood this episode 😐😂
I was so sad about this event because I have all 20 or 30 something issues of Gerry Duggan’s Guardians run and it was a perfect merging between the movie and the comics. Groot and Rocket had a lot of new character motivation and development, Drax had a lot of comedic relief, and it expanded on the Nova corps when the Nova comic was being cancelled. So the fact that this cash grab was the “penultimate” build up to that run really sucks. The guardians comic went somewhere, then absolutely nowhere (not knowhere).
I know you like to joke about nobody going from the theater to the comic shop but hey! It worked for me. I was introduced to these characters via the MCU and now I collect/read books weekly!
Sal's frustration is the best thing about this book
Only good thing about this awful event was it was at least forgettable, we can all pretend it never happened
Only good thing about this event was so that Sal can trash it.
Indeed. It's even worse when titles have to reference some awful event everyone hates because it's so integral to the current status quo. It's like you can't never escape
also, that one panel of moon knight having no clue what the fuck is going on and Spiderman saying "punch whoever I punch second" was fun
It might as well not have happened. Other than Phyla and Moondragon returning, nothing else from this has been referenced or kept around.
@@mr.goblin6039Marvel did release an Infinity Warps miniseries sometime after this event, so it wasn’t complete forgotten. It was also written by Al Ewing, which means that it’s actually way better than it has any right to be.
What I look forward to the most on Wednesdays, is of course a new back issues video! Easily one of my favorite channels on UA-cam
4 minutes in and Ben is already in his comedic pocket. Beautiful
in gary oldman's slightly southernish accent from 5th element, " where the stones?"
I heard part of this comment.
This book is the definition of riding the wave. But failing horribly at it.
If Turk has the Mind Stone, which stone does JD have? I'll show myself out.
Soul stone
The floating head stone
The Dr. Acula stone.
The appletini stone.
The second mind stone, because bro love makes them inseparable
Idea: Sal explains comic pitches in a format of 1 Truth 2 Lies. Ethan and Ben have to guess which of those got made. Or 2 Truths 1 Lie and guess which didn’t.
Best birthday present from comicpop🥳 keep doing what you doing guys
Happy Birthday!!
Salty Sal is my favorite Sal of all.
31:48 my fave Sal moment
I love how short Wolverine is, that we can't even see him in the big picture on the back. All we see is some blue stuff floating out of Sal's head.
EDIT: OH wait that's NAT. Woops.
Thank you for lambasting this book. Maybe the story would have been better if the quarry had a sweet dragon who is responsible for eating the stones, but then he doesn't and they form dark dimension stones. But then Gamora is able to overcome it all by hoping a little harder. These are the only improvements I can think of for this dumpster fire of a story.
hey back issues, welcome back to my bedroom television, i'm kessonga and today i'm gonna be watching you
Oh my gawd Sal youll love this. So yesterday at work and this morning at work, talking to myself or such I quoted the "its not a purse its European!" Line from the death od gwen Stacey video. Well long story short a customer left their wallet at our store today. And i tell my associate "ya heres his wallet its more of a satchel" she says "satchel ? Thats a purse" and I GO "ITS NOT A PURSE ITS EUROPEAN" and we both laughed so hard cause she heard and asked me about yhe quote earlier and I kibda described green goblins satel and such... It wasa beautiful real life moment brought to you by comicPOP
@@doctorwolfman5221 brought to you by Seinfeld via ComicPOP!
Is adulthood when the ComicPop couch becomes more favourable than the casting couch?
I laughed a bit more at “donki” because that’s the abbreviation for Don Quijote in Japan, specifically referring to the strange store that is like a fusion of wal-mart and spencer’s.
The last 3 minutes of this episode are gold lol
I don't even remember how this ended, I just figured after warps they never gave it an ending
The stones all getting their own souls is like the "Black September" even (first and only crossover that was meant to merge in the Malibu comics to Marvel comics), where the Infinity gems became living entities. Although I believe nothing came of that, even in its own story.
So yeah, Infinity War(p)s is even more like that.
yay sal shitting on a book for an hour is a great bday gift guys
I didn't think it could be that bad, then I saw Sal turn the book to the side and noticed how large it was. When something has that many pages, it doesn't bode well.
Page count doesn’t represent the quality of a book
That thumbnail IS THE VIBE!!
"Woah, now let's not get too hasty and assume this character who is obviously Gamora is Gamora."
You know, if they wanted Requiem's identity to be a surprise, then they shouldn't have had run around using Gamora's signature sword as her main weapon of choice. Unless of course they wanted it to be an obvious reveal to make people go "What? Gamora's evil now?!" which in turn would make this dogshit tier event way worse than it already is.
That ending was all I needed. They made this book to mess with Rob!!!
The biggest impact this story has had is creating the really cool Funko Pops that were over ordered and take up shelf space of every LCS
My Wednesday ritual - looking forward to watching it!! Liked and shared!
Thank you for this episode. It's been a rough week and I definitely need a good laugh. Love you guys.
I have been so excited for this episode since Sal hinted at it a little while ago
It's got "Wars" in the title so it's got to be good
3 minutes in and I can tell I’m gonna watch this one over and over again.
This is gonna be great! Not like the book of course, but at least we get an amazing episode of Back Issues
After Sal saids this was a "horrible mistake", Joel speaks for everyone when he saids "Yeah"
I can’t believe you actually did it, good job it was hysterical lmao
Tuvix? A Star Trek Voyager reference in my Back Issues? Excellent!
Also, the best part of Tuvix was the elimination of Neelix.
Fun fact, 4/5 of our Star Trek: Voyager references are Tuvix
Not gonna lie, the Arachknight series was cool. Spider-man and Moon Knight are like peanut butter and jelly, they sound weird together, BUT they make a helluva combo.
One thing moon dragon was still alive at the time. So yes there are two moon dragons, but they fused together in a seperate story
I remember watching Off the Rack and how Sal called who Requiem was after the first issue, and I immediately dropped all interest in the series
Glad to see you covering this book. I watched a lot of reviews, and the Warps ideas sounded neat at the time, but overall it just felt like a "blah" story that came out of nowhere.
So Thanos had a virus-dispensing system in his heart, which infected Gamora and turned her into the-Gamora-who-snaps.
Patiently awaiting the Infinite Infinities event
the thing I love about back issues is the behind the scenes stuff sal drops. I bet you can make a show about it. like 30 rock but with comics.
In retrospect, Of all the things for a shameless cash-in book to do...
Accidentally synergize with the Loki TV show was the most unexpected
I was hoping someone else was thinking about this.
I use to think that the power stone was like the center stone powering or amplifying all the other stones
I kinda want an alternate universe Loki called Donki now, just to see what that would look like.
Sal: “This… is a horrible mistake.”
Ethan and Ben: *dejected*
Me: *elated*
I’d love to see you guys to a GBU on some of the warps. The one I like the most has to be Iron Hammer cuz it seemed to do the most blending and wasn’t ham fisted like Arachknight sadly was.
I liked Weapon Hex, but kinda just because she was two of my favorite characters combined in a fairly rad way... I aesthetically liked Ghost Panther but like, idk
@@bloodhexesillustration1977 I get that. The only thing Arachknight had going for his is his look. The story was bullshit and deserved so much better.
I imagine Devondra is Dugans girlfriend or mistress irl! He used this terrible event to signal his terrible feelings for her & to break up with her! “You’re wrecking my SOUL DEVONDRA!!” “SERENITY NOW!” “INFINITY NOW!”
the best part of this story was moon knight having no clue what the fuck is going on
One way I feel Marvel could maybe bring in people from the movies, without doing a desperate tie-in like this, would be maybe having a promotional comic for the character or team from the movie be given away with ticket purchases and at the end have it say "if you wanna read more about them, check out the current run on sale now" and maybe have it come with a discount coupon or something. I don’t know if it would work too well cause it would probably mean raising the price of the tickets by a little bit but I feel it could be an interesting way of trying and would definitely be better than stuff like this.
Love this channel, love you guys!
She was tired of people continually asking "Why is Gamora?" and never "How is Gamora?"
What is Gamora? lol
That ending... marvelous.
Loved you guys already knew your amalgam names 😆
Sal. The master of sarcasm
A Cautionary Tale to Astonish!
I think this event was pretty good, sure the Infinity Gems stuff was complicated but I love the character work, and the amalgam heroes were really cool
"That'd be clever. NOT IN THIS!"
THE KANSAS CITY SHUFFLE!!!! I love Lucky Number Sleven
Put another one in the book boys. Lets welcome THORKY!!
This was the first event I ever read week to week
Started off strong
Love this episode. Sal is saying everything I've been saying for years. Glad to see I'm not the only one that hates when they try to tie the movies into the comics.
Please do Secret Warps where they keep folding the universe
This event was a complete blur.
Ah the diminishing returns of infinity gems
Much like the pheonix they should only have been used a few times.
They never want to just rerelease look classic stuff with a good amount of hype around it because it would give the audience proper history of the MCU's source material, which will cause the public to begin to question some of the more unnecessary (read: dumb) changes current marvel has/keeps making.
Any real comic fan should know the movies aren't following comics word for word.
@@lonniedaniels6453 Any "Real" fan should know how to be respectful other's opinions.
That and I believe Marvel doesn’t want to pay writers or artists of these classic stories. Like, I remember Jim Starlin being upset that he got payed jack squat in terms of royalties when it comes to his stuff used in the MCU. Marvel probably just doesn’t wanna pay royalties for older stories, so they just make new garbage that’s less expensive to make. Idk how any of that works, but that’s just a theory I came to think about due to how many times it’s happened.
That don’t make no sense. Reading infinity gauntlet isn’t going to change someone’s opinion of the movie.
I wish the public would do that but you know a lot of them would be like “but the movie was funnier tho!” Or “but Tom Holland is 🔥 tho” . Sad but search your feelings, you know it to be true
Ben doing the jerk it motion made me LOSE it
Come on Sal Soldier Supreme sounds neat lol
I've always known them as stones, from the Super Hero Squad (the colors were different than the movie ones too) and the MCU. But I see how annoying it would be to have them be Gems, be shattered, come back and be Stones just hecause of the movies
Didn't vision by Tom king sold like bonkers after Wanda vision ?
That boat is from norse mythology if I remember right. It was given as a gift to Frig I think, from two dwarve blacksmith brothers. Was part of a contest Loki thought up to cause chaos.
Stories like these that piggyback off the movies are what kinda turn me off towards a lot of modern Marvel stuff. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still stuff that I like, but I definitely share Sal’s standpoint from the start of the video.
So...... my question is why didn't Loki's quest end when he met the Thor version of himself? Isn't that basically what he was looking for?
The only thing organic about this story is the Guardians run Donny Cates did after it.
48:05 Like Goku trying to find the fused Kais
When I was reading Duggan’s Guardians of the Galaxy run I was really enjoying it, then Infinity Wars came out…
Grats on 94K 👏👏👍
Marvel's biggest blunders was not releasing trade paper backs of comics like Infinity Gauntlet in grocery and book stores, while the movie based on it was in theatres.
I love Wandavision but funnily enough that is the show that made my girlfriend be like “Ok... maybe there is something to this MCU thing”
