To add to the "Knull is Coming" gaffe: "Knull" basically means "a fuck" in Swedish. A lot of Swedish comic fans were laughing their ass off at the ads.
"There is a tie-in where Iron Man and Doctor Doom save Christmas..." Comic Books, Everyone! The non-acknowledgement of that just shows how 'normal' that is. Also, Hulk in his tie in issue learns the power of Christmas Magic…and does a Home Alone trap for some symbiotes.
Jim Shooter: Boy that black suit I made for Spider-Man was pretty cool. I'm glad I was able to make a cool redesign with no story possibilities or effects on the Marvel universe as a whole.
Ya know, it's weird Jason Aaron didn't include Agent Anti-Venom in his Avengers run. They are currently fighting the "Multiversal Masters of Evil" which has a Red Skull WITH a Venom Symbiote in his possession. Anti-Venom feels like a handy person to have on hand. Great Episode. btw.
I'm not the biggest Venom fan. However, Cates' commitment to the history of Eddie Brock's character as well as his growth and leaning into the absurdity of the nature of the symbiotes is pretty great. Pretty great episode Comicpop!
The boys had the exact opposite reaction to the enigma force that I had. I thought it showing up was the coolest thing ever and got so hyped. I love how they were just like..."why" lmao. So good.
There was one tie in that honestly should've been in the main story, albeit shortened by taking all the unnecessary fluff and putting that in it's own tie in, the Sentry/Valkyrie one where on his way being guided to the Valhalla they run into the first Celestial that Knull beheaded and it turns out it was being used to empower the Necrosword in like death limbo state all this time. They defeat it and significantly de-power the Necrosword which is not mentioned anywhere in the main run from what I remember, and helps explain why Knull was so quick to turn heel and run, though honestly I agree I love the idea the moment Knull was actually challenged even with all his power he still ran like a kid.
That and the Venom tie-in where Flash Thompson comes back to life. It explains how he’s back in future stories. If you never read that but did read another book where Flash is alive it would be so confusing.

That, and the Immortal Hulk tie-in. Also, the new SWORD's first arc was basically just one long KoB tie-in that actually managed to thread the needle between being relatively self-contained and driving its own plot/characters forward and still giving larger context to the event as a whole, while not being completely weighed down by the event it's referencing. It's honestly kind of remarkable.

In that Carnage Stuff that came afterwards he like doubles down and decides he'll take Knull's Place even making his own subsection of The Hive with the Life Foundation Symbiotes, and I think it's setting up to have him fight against Eddie's Hive... Or well it was till the Venom Run kind of threw a wrench in that plan. All that said it Really is odd how Carnage didn't show up in King In Black because 1) Knull mentions him and 2) it's not like he's not dead or anything he's just stuck on that island that Venom went to when he thought he killed Spiderman for the first time in that old book. (After this he just hitches a ride on a Shark to the mainland then starts all that stuff mentioned above)

I have had many thoughts about this book in the last hour but I'll sum it up to 2 points: plotwise this is dragonball Z to a T, also did Cates and Stegman just use Venom because he looks a lot like spawn.... because with the 🪓 killing Gods and you know Eddie dying this is basically Spawn
When ya'll were talking about the Black Winter a few back issues ago I was convince that it had something to do with Knull. I can't believe that wasn't the case.
I’ve seen every episode of back issues. Still waiting on an Avengers story with my favorite villain, Kang. Since we’re coming up on his mcu debut, maybe one of Kurt Busiek’s two epics, Avengers Forever or the Kang Dynasty?
I wasn't sure about King in Black at first especially during some of the multi year lead-up in Venom but once it really landed it sure did land and now I really want that Marvel Legends Knull to swordfight my Silver Surfer Would also love an Enigma Force Venom figure

I was kinda hoping when u finally did this one that you were going to include the venom king in black "tie ins" since it's basically the other half of the story. It provides a lot of context to wat Brock was doing and the return of flash. Still a good EP tho thanks guys
Loving Donuary :D. Been really enjoying Thanos Wins. He might be my favourite author at the moment.
Third episode of Donuary, okay how far are we... February 16th!?
When ya'll were talking about the Black Winter a few back issues ago I was convince that it had something to do with Knull. I can't believe that wasn't the case.
Even after the Black Winter arc, people were still convinced he and Knull were the same much to Donny Cates annoyance
@@anthonyhudak9363 lol i just really thought that it would tie in in some way!!
@@anthonyhudak9363 I can't blame then, Donny really liked to use Knull in everything that he wrote lol.
I’ve seen every episode of back issues. Still waiting on an Avengers story with my favorite villain, Kang. Since we’re coming up on his mcu debut, maybe one of Kurt Busiek’s two epics, Avengers Forever or the Kang Dynasty?
I just love these guys
I was an hour into the video before I noticed the UA-cam play button on the set
Been a hell of a week so finally catching this
I wasn't sure about King in Black at first especially during some of the multi year lead-up in Venom but once it really landed it sure did land and now I really want that Marvel Legends Knull to swordfight my Silver Surfer
Would also love an Enigma Force Venom figure
