I keep them in the live well until I get home and clean them immediately before they die, I think it makes them taste even better.@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors

I've been filleting walleye this way for years, other than the removal of the pin bones. Awesome idea!

I like to hear your thoughts on this Dave. I was told the other day not to fillet fish directly on cardboard because formaldehyde is used in the process of making the cardboard. And I have to admit I've paid attention and noticed that chicken or other food stuff that is packed in cardboard is in a waxed cardboard and plastic bags. do you think this is true?

Yes, I have mentioned this before in deer processing videos, that I make no claims to the health safety of using cardboard. I also don't claim to know the science behind what you are saying. We wipe the cardboard down with food grade alcohol but that probably doesn't fix everything. Maybe it's a terrible practice to use cardboard or maybe it's more like the dyes/sweeteners/MSG/nitrates in some of the food we eat. None of them are good for you, but they are in our food. I know they say not to even burn cardboard because of the formaldehyde in it. Again, I don't claim to know the right answer. I have been eating fish and venison that was cut on cardboard since I was able to chew food, but maybe it gets me in the end who knowns? Maybe I should look for a better option.

The plastic bags are probably coated in PFAS for the anti-stick properties. Fast food containers have it too, as does some floss.
Dupont and 3M will get us one way or another.
I hadn't heard of the formaldehyde though. Thanks!

I use cardboard also. Easy clean up and perfect demonstration.
