Awesome to hear! You'll get there!! The sore fingers will last about a month - but if you keep going a little every day you'll get past it and build your strength. (But don't overdo it!)
Very good lesson, my problem is that I am partially deaf and in a lot of lessons I watch on you tube the instructors mumble and I find it hard to follow, but you have a beautiful clear and soothing voice, I will definitely be following your lessons. thank you

Willie Nelson's original was in the key of E, making it challenging for beginner guitar and ukulele players to play; you have used the CFG progression, which is much easier and sounds just as great! I have subscribed to your channel.

Play alongs always help in learning as well as practicing. I must commend you Kathryn on preparing an easy to follow lesson in one shot with no editing or cut. I just have one query regarding this lesson. In the first line chord progression of C-F-C with DDU-UDU strumming you seem to be doing one full strum over C and then maybe just DDU again on C and then you strum UDU over F? Is that so?
Tanmay - my apologies for the delay in my response! I went back to listen to that section of the video, and I see what you are asking. Yes, on the F chord, you could do exactly what you stated above to move between the C and F chords. When the C chord is held for 4 beats, you'll do the full strumming pattern DDU-UDU. When just 2 beats per chord, you can do DDU for the C and then also the F following it. You can also experiment with just doing DD to line up with the words. For example doing a down stroke on each syllable of "twi- light" (C chord) and then "glow - I" (F chord). I hope this helps!

Check the time stamps to skip around as needed, I cover the chords, strumming options, play through of the different sections, etc. BTW my newer videos don't have wine in them (I don't really drink anymore.... so it's more like Ukulele Time, not Ukulele Wine Time...) if that helps! ✌😊
You do realize that you are playing chords that will not let you play with musicians that actually perform this song, yes? Willie, and everyone else on this song, use E A B, NOT C F G. Also, most people think he wrote this song, he is a great songwriter, but he did not write this. Nor is he the only one to record it. It was written by another great songwriter back in the day named Fred Rose in 1945, I believe it was. Roy Acuff recorded it in...I think 1946. Elvis and so many other recorded it before Willie. It really gave Willie’s career a boost, he does the song justice.
Hi Nona - Absolutely - original key was E, but my channel is focused on beginners so E is not the friendliest key for beginner ukulele players! First to record was actually Elton Britt, 1946. Yes many great recordings - Hank Williams included. I do love Willie's version though! I credit Fred Rose as the composer on my pdf chart. As you can see in the description I mention that it's a simple I IV V progression, and have a whole video on how to change keys! However I will add a note there about the original key. And also Fred! Not all musicians play it in the original key, but it's easy enough to change keys. You are clearly passionate about this song! Are you learning to play it? Hope you enjoy!! I'm always open to discussing the music, composers, keys, approaches.
