I think taking 15 kindergarten/first graders fishing without any major incidents qualifies you for a level of sainthood. For kids that have parents that don't have time/ don't know how showing them how to fish is truly a beloved memory and it warms my heart that you are sharing that. My mom is probably the busiest person in the world and my dad is disabled so having adults show me kindness and teach me things outside of school was very rare and incredibly meaningful.

I've watched this from the beginning and I love it. My guy went from creating a full blown ecosystem to an ecosystem research project and I'm here for it.. watching all these animals and how they live naturally is super cool to see.
I especially love the integration of biology and specifically setting up data collection so even more could potentially be learned. It's so freaking cool and I have never seen anything else quite like it
Multiple antenna will also help you determine which bass are no longer around - eagles, osprey, natural causes, etc. With fewer antenna, it will take more time. With many, you can document almost all of them! Great idea!
Since installing this pond, all of the vegetation on your property looks so much better. The trees look fuller. Grass is growing in nice. You’ve done something truly beautiful here. You did it right. And I have so much respect for you for all of this.

ive been hooked on this video because of how awesome it was to watch you defend your bass against the herons in the backyard pond. watching the whole thing grow has been icing on the cake. its crazy to think that a simple fish naming idea will turn into the chance for people to actually see their "pet" and track its movements. also the potential to see its entire life span, or if it happens to get snatched up by bird. im hooked.

If you still have persistent cloudiness in the small pond, attach 6' piece of 2" pvc to the end of the hose. Turn. The hose on, and drive the pipe into the gravel in the wetland filter, loft it to the surface, and repeat as needed. Works great. Used to build ponds for a living, and that was always the fastest way to clean gravel

The tracking system is one of the coolest things I've seen. I can't wait to see the way all of that develops. Watching their habits and being able to track individual fish is so cool.
The way those woodpecker holes are drilled means its probably a Yellow Shafted Flicker or a Sapsucker. The make their holes in very deliberate grid patterns like that that cover the whole tree.
BTW like lots of others say, these videos and their presentation are great. I used to think the videos were a little long but they seem fine now. I bet you all must edit out hundreds of hours of media to get to this finished video. The 25 minutes is so concentrated with great info and videography.

You need a eagle nest basket attached to the eagle platform. The type they put on power poles . They would probably build a nest on there . Definitely would be easier for them to build.
@@jic1 Dood in Florida The birds build right on top off the power poles everywhere! The power companies put them on to get the birds above the lines so they don’t short out ! The birds build on them even if there isn’t a basket .
@MrFishhook Thanks for explaining this. Some utilities put "eagle" platforms up above transmission lines here in CA because several species of large birds build nests on anything tall enough to suit their needs when tall enough trees or other nesting spots they prefer are not available.

Those AquaScape team really made an exceptional pool for you. You did have a good working bee making that, better than I have ever been a part. ( Our Local Rotary Club does community work too. A few years back we helped make a toilet block down at the Mon Repos Turtle Reserve. I like to remember how that job began like the story of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. It looked like a lot of hard work, yet by the time we had marked out the trenches for the drainage pits, it took only a few minutes before someone in a shady hat was organising teams, and allowing only a few minutes for each participant to dig. Those trenches got dug a bit wider and a bit deeper than absolutely necessary and no-one really cared that we had swapped between teams to get some extra digging done. After lunch a proper plumber turned up with a backhoe tractor ready to do the pipes and was surprised to see that the drainage pits were awaiting his inspection. A crowd of right pleased blokes stood about with hands on hips and cold drinks , all smiling that we had shown how a job of work can be achieved by a team effort.)

What a fun video. I would think in roughly two years, this will be a really fun bass/bluegill pond. Add this to #1 on my list of things I'd do if I had a million dollars (or two). It's interesting to see that you were able to keep trout in this lake. And, it's finally nice to see FFS used in a healthy, educational manner, rather than a shameless, crutch for "professional" anglers. What a beautiful piece of land you have.

Maybe the drought last summer and fall caused the bass to think there was a dormancy period in the water, rain fell in late fall and caused a false spring where the pink magnolias bloomed and pear trees budded. Maybe the false spring also triggered springtime behavior in the underwater world, causing resources to expand and fish to spawn.
Enjoy the pond videos since its inception. When feeding tiger, can you switch up the food you feed him. Love your old tank Tuesday videos when you showed your pet bass eating things like crawfish and frogs. Keep up the good videos.

Maybe the drought last summer and fall caused the bass to think there was a dormancy period in the water, rain fell in late fall and caused a false spring where the pink magnolias bloomed and pear trees budded.
