    I think taking 15 kindergarten/first graders fishing without any major incidents qualifies you for a level of sainthood. For kids that have parents that don't have time/ don't know how showing them how to fish is truly a beloved memory and it warms my heart that you are sharing that. My mom is probably the busiest person in the world and my dad is disabled so having adults show me kindness and teach me things outside of school was very rare and incredibly meaningful.

    • @Grace-er9ep
      @Grace-er9ep 8 місяців тому +2

      @@Speed99999 I'm not complaining, it's just a fact of life that my dad wasn't able to be a father to me and that's ok. Unfortunately your suggestion to just use modern tech to "fix" him isn't nearly that simple, his problems are almost entirely psychological and I doubt he will ever be different. Why do you feel like I'm complaining in my comment about the positive impact of taking kids fishing? Mentioning my parents was only to exemplify that not all parents have the time or capabilities to spend time with their kids outside and how meaningful it can be for them to have these experiences that they otherwise would miss out on

    ive been hooked on this video because of how awesome it was to watch you defend your bass against the herons in the backyard pond. watching the whole thing grow has been icing on the cake. its crazy to think that a simple fish naming idea will turn into the chance for people to actually see their "pet" and track its movements. also the potential to see its entire life span, or if it happens to get snatched up by bird.
    im hooked.

    If you still have persistent cloudiness in the small pond, attach 6' piece of 2" pvc to the end of the hose. Turn. The hose on, and drive the pipe into the gravel in the wetland filter, loft it to the surface, and repeat as needed. Works great. Used to build ponds for a living, and that was always the fastest way to clean gravel

    Those AquaScape team really made an exceptional pool for you. You did have a good working bee making that, better than I have ever been a part. ( Our Local Rotary Club does community work too. A few years back we helped make a toilet block down at the Mon Repos Turtle Reserve. I like to remember how that job began like the story of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. It looked like a lot of hard work, yet by the time we had marked out the trenches for the drainage pits, it took only a few minutes before someone in a shady hat was organising teams, and allowing only a few minutes for each participant to dig. Those trenches got dug a bit wider and a bit deeper than absolutely necessary and no-one really cared that we had swapped between teams to get some extra digging done. After lunch a proper plumber turned up with a backhoe tractor ready to do the pipes and was surprised to see that the drainage pits were awaiting his inspection. A crowd of right pleased blokes stood about with hands on hips and cold drinks , all smiling that we had shown how a job of work can be achieved by a team effort.)

    Add some pieces of board to the pallet for the gaps for the eagles perch, as well as some 2"x12"s on the sides to act as skid boards. I bet the eagles would start building a next quicker then! Love your vids!

    What a fun video. I would think in roughly two years, this will be a really fun bass/bluegill pond. Add this to #1 on my list of things I'd do if I had a million dollars (or two). It's interesting to see that you were able to keep trout in this lake. And, it's finally nice to see FFS used in a healthy, educational manner, rather than a shameless, crutch for "professional" anglers. What a beautiful piece of land you have.

      @@theblack7772 correct. No one said it had to be the name of an actual turtle did they??? Splinter is on the cartoon and is the leader. He’s different from a turtle, like this one has a different belly. Ought to be easy to spot.

    Maybe the drought last summer and fall caused the bass to think there was a dormancy period in the water, rain fell in late fall and caused a false spring where the pink magnolias bloomed and pear trees budded. Maybe the false spring also triggered springtime behavior in the underwater world, causing resources to expand and fish to spawn.
