I have the first edition Barbie and the Rockers on display with the instrument playset. If you have the first edition set and the pleather is flaking, I used leather fabric paint to repair and restore it, make sure you use foam brushes and stuff an old rag to hold its shape and to keep the paint from sticking to the inside. The second edition that you have in the video, she has the same shoes as both Crystal Barbie and Jewel Secrets Barbie.
I have her also and the first version as well ! This dancing version is so exciting and beautiful ! Love her so much and she's my favorite Barbie !

Me and my sister had the full band as kids, sadly they were our main "play" barbies and I don't know whatever happened to them =/ they were definitely is poor shape near the end. Barbie left Ken for Joey-Joe Mack and they had tons of Strawberry Shortcake kids together and Ken turned to a life of crime- thieving robbery, and kidnapping.

@@BeautyInsideABox It's true. Mattel confirmed it in a nexfilx documentary (I'm pretty sure it's called "The toys that made us"). Highly recommended it if you can find it, it's only one if the episodes but I enjoyed it a lot.

watching me watching you well Jem came out the same time as Barbie and the Rockers and I remember getting them both at that time and I still have them until today ! My 2 favorite dolls of all time and that includes both versions of the Rockers Barbie and of course Jem ! ( I have the first Jem, Glitter n gold Jem and Flash n sizzle Jem !)

I was fortunate to get a dee dee from this line in a bunch of random second hand dolls. I didn't know who she was until very recently (with the assistance of 1000 splendid dolls). She is without clothes (for now) which is a shame but I feel so blessed to have her. Glad you found one..they're totally awesome arent they !!!
I remember the video for this doll! I rented it at video store in the early 90s. I like this doll's outfit more than the other one she wore.

I had some of the dolls from this line. I wish I still had them!! I love how inclusive Barbie has become for my children’s generation. Now they need to bring some of the fabulous 80s/90s fashions back to Barbie. Thank you for this video. So fun!

I posted these in a throwback post a few years ago when I found the audio available on UA-cam. It is such a fabulous iconic toy. And the music is better than most music of today.

I was born in 1980, so the 80's were litteraly my childhood, and I think there was so many barbie, fashion set and furniture that were to die for. Pretty sure I'm very subjective, but I love everything 80's from Barbie world

The Rockers first wave was amazing... but the second one is tremendous and the best !

1 The dolls' clothes get share patterns as a real collection
2 Ken was a perfect add
3 Dee Dee 's Afro hair is perfect beauty
4 They get more fabulous instruments and sets
5 dolls' faces are better .. fringes, hair, make up, boxes, pictures .... everything get improved
The thing I missed about wave 1 ? The collectible Tshirts, a scarce sign of first dolls' unity

I am so with you on the 80s obsession! I have a full set of boxed first wave Barbie and the Rockers and it's killing me because I really want to open them but I just can't bring myself to do it. Not because I'm worried about decreasing the value, but I inherited them from my grandmother's collection and I feel that she would come back and haunt me if I did!
I think the worst thing about 80s dolls is the super fluffy 80s perm hairstyle a lot of them have. Yes, it looks beautiful if you can find them in mint condition, but if they've been played with AT ALL, it ends up a tangled mess. I also collect some Jem and the Holograms and Princess of Power figures and most of mine have hair issues. It is possible to restyle them but it's very time consuming.
You have to get another copies of the Rockers dolls. So that you could unbox à part of them !
I like the classic Barbies . It was a lot more separate doll clothes back then. Better quality. I remember that booklet that came with the Barbie dolls. 😄

I literally just purchased some barbie and the rockers stuff on eBay! I've been thinking about getting the second wave barbie. A month ago I found barbie and the rockers concert playset with a drum set. It's awesome!! When I was really young I used to torture my dad with the movie. lol everything we went to the video rental store I always wanted to rent it. I never had the chance to own it though and can't seem to find it anywhere. It would be really cool if they re-released it.
I think they changed her outfit for the second wave even in the US. Mystery finally solved! My neighbor had that doll and we used to trade doll outfits and I have that pink skirt with the silver stars in my vintage Barbie box and could not figure out what it was from.
Oh my gosh Joey you need to look up Barbie and the rockers in the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade 1986 Where a young Pat Sajak is the host of the parade! “Born with the mic in our hand” was mine and my sister’s favorite songs from Barbie and the rockers😁

Here in Peru BASa the company that have the license made the dolls in the country and maybe because it was difficult to get some of the materials back in the day it made a different version of the outfit, and amalgam of both looks (they jut made one version) andf used polka dots instead of stars
Im not a Barbie collector but Im a huge 80s fan and I recently found the Barbie Ferrari 328 and Im looking to buy two 80s barbies to complete it . I think this might be one , I'd also love to get a ken doll and find some clothing to give him a Miami Vice style

I’ve been debating wether or not to open my vintage barbies and display them 🤔 Do you keep the boxes after you open them? Or keep any of them in boxes?
This was my very first Barbie, or at least the oldest one I can remember. I had all the girls in this wave (and also 2 Jem dolls), but only kept Dee Dee. I have since gotten Ken to go with my Rockers repro. I've considered rebuying this version of Barbie for the nostalgia. I always thought her makeup made her look old though.

I have Dee Dee from this wave. Some of these dolls are common here in the US. Barbie NIB is harder to find But Ken, Diva, Dee Dee, And Derek are prevalent on eBay NIB.

That is so weird that the box says Rockstars.. Def weird. But even the long string wristband I'm surprised was only 1? I had that doll back in the day. I could have sworn there were two wristbands when I had her? ( lol.. too far back to remember though.)

I think that it’s bad that the
boys can’t dance. It’s like their telling kids that boys can’t dance.
If you watch the ads it shows the girls dancing while the boys play the instruments and get all the fans, so it sucks in a couple ways.

Really odd, I got this doll at the thrift store yesterday in Canada and her top says "Rock Stars." In Canada they are def "Barbie and the Rockers." You'd think his would say Rock Stars but his top says Rockers
In the UK Barbie and the Rockers was changed to Barbie and the Rock Stars. Mods and Rockers were still within memory.
