Technically speaking it's a 924 but was rechristened the 944 with the new 2.5L turbo, which became the 944 Turbo street car 5yrs or so later.

the 944 did not exist yet, that is why it was a 924 with a brand new 2.5 L 4 cylinder with 4 (!) valves /Cylinder and turbo charger, of this engine Porsche built only 2 , later, in the 944 Turbo, the engine had only 2 valves/cylinder......

nope, different engine.....chassis is 924 GTP, engine 944 2.5L with 410 HP......
