That one dislike is someone who can't get rid of his heat irons ;)
Definitely a mental journey. I'm 8 months in, transitioning from relaxers. My relaxed hair was beautiful...my curls are too.... But when the two meet 😱😭
I know!! 😫 But you’re making progress, 8 months is huge!! You’ll be there before you know it!
@@AminaMarie thanks a bunch for the encouragement... Means so much🤗
I started months again, is a journey indeed
I'm 5 months into the transition and don't like dealing with two hair textures. My goal is to trim my hair ever couple of months or so. Should it be more often and how much should be cut off each time?
Where the 2 meet tangle alot
It's my senior year, I've got semi, prom, and yearbook photos. Being in this weird middle ground stage of transitioning where I can't anticipate a bad hair day, is terrifying. But, ladies, do not give up. It's been an interesting journey of self love and acceptance thus far. Stick with it and we will all be so grateful in a year or two.
If this is not the most inspirational NATURAL hair journey video on UA-cam - I don’t know what is. I finally discovered perm rods and flexi rods and they are a total game changer.
Awww thank you so much, so happy it could help!! 💗💗 Flexi rods and perm rods changed my whole hair life 😩🙌🏽
I just started 3 days ago after i got a touch up I can't wait till my new grow come in wish me luck
How’s it going?
Bendy rollers/flex rods are best for blending relaxed and natural hair also gets you use to your coming glory!🌷
i want to transition but i have no knowledge about it so thank you for making these videos!! 😊
So glad they can help! I might be biased but I say go for it!! 🎉
I’ve been transitioning for 10 months and I’m going for 1 year then big chopping! 😌
Yay!!!
Jessi same!
I'm going 2 years then big chopping I'm 5 months in
Very happy for you but wouldn’t you just be cutting off your new growth
Morning Sunshine nice I’m 8 months in without any heat going for one year not big chopping
I haven’t had natural hair in over 40 years and I decided 1 month ago to start this process. So let’s see how it goes I’m going to follow you for this process. Love the videos so far & your hair is absolutely BEAUTIFUL thank you for sharing
I started transitioning in December and big chopped in May and my hair has grown so much from that! Also that extra TLC helps with growth & drinking lots of water!! I’m now 7 months into transitioning and I’m so happy!
😍 Yay!!! Love to hear that! Honestly that chop sets everything off, you just have to work up the courage to do it!
I started transitioning in March ! So this series is going to be really helpful for me ❤️
Yay perfect timing!! ❤️❤️ Also congratulations and welcome to the club 🎉
Good luck girl i started mine in april😊
aysha anas thanks girl ! Good luck to you too x
@@AminaMarie hello dear plz what is your hair porosity?
since last January I have to! and now my hairs bra strap length, good luck girl 🍀
I am so happy I found you! I've been unintentionally transitioning from relaxers since February and have finally made the decision to not go back. Working towards a 2-3 year transition because I can't part with my length, so pray for me ya'll. THANK YOU, AMINA!
I'm fully natural, but this is very informative!
Whew I watched this two years ago 😭 and finaly im herep
i love you for these videos 🥺 THESE WERE NEEDED!
I’m so glad I found your channel. I’m 4 months into the transition and I must admit I was thinking of relaxing again but I’m trying to stay focused 🙏🏾
I’ve started transitioning in March this year. And my hair is coming back to life 🙏🏽. It’s hard work but I love seeing the results as each day goes by. A lot of patience is key and I just let my hair do its thing. I’m still going to trial an error with products but I’m getting there. Ohh and homemade flaxseed gel is the ☝🏾 one.
You answer all my questions and thoughts without even knowing what they are! Amazing 💖
I just big chopped about a week ago and pot my hair in a protective style(braids). I'm really exited to take them out. Your series really helped me so thank you :))
i never see ppl say how to put ur hair up when its bedtime...SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING HOW & WHAT TO DO TO MAINTAIN HAIR AT BEDTIME. You just became my all time favorite!! & your videos have been very informative! Yay! Thank you!
YAY! This is coming at the perfect timing
Good! Happy to hear it!!
Thank you! Thank you! I have begun my transition and you give great pointers‼️
Yesssss I'm here for this!!🙋🏾♀️😘❤💞🥰
Heyyy girl!! Thank you for the love! ❤️😘💕🥰
your videos are very helpful I'm re-transitioning back to natural hair. I'm 1month post going on 2month post planing to do the big chop on 15months 0r 20months. Thank you for making this video well here I go again this time I will not give up 😊💖🙌🏽💁🏽♀️✨😍
I enjoy your videos so much! Your hair is gorgeous by the way! 💕
Thank you so much!! 🤗❤️
I’m 5 months into transitioning & my new growth is just an over shoulder length but I’ve got around a 6 inches or straight ends that I’m going to cut off in december! this video was really helpful💖
I start transitioning in February I am happy that I found this series
After watching the video stage 1 I took her advice and I've seen massive growth in my hair I do indeed regret relaxing my hair this is a mental journey but I'm committed
Thanks
These video is definitely helpful I’m so excited to continue this journey
This series is Awesome!!! Thank you ❤️
Brilliant video, since March started going curly everyday to date, your hair is gorgeous, good advice to transitioning also, thank you :0)
I made the decision to transition not to long after watching part 1, I’m glad I had this video to inform me with what I can expect from this. 💙
So exciting!! Welcome to the journey! 💖🎉
I am so glad you made this video Amina! It was quite frustrating a year & a half ago when UA-camrs were mainly focused on products-- ie, reviews, applications, tutorials etc, but not so much on up to date transitioning info. One exception was if you big chopped. So, thanks again for these helpful encouraging tips and suggestions!
Thank you so much for the feedback, I’m so happy this is helpful information! 💕
Hello! I just came across your video. I’m almost 8 months in transitioning. It’s tough, but I just got my first silk press and love it. I just want these once a month. Maybe I can do it. 😂
Quarantine has gave me the courage to transition my hair and I have about three inches off my head I’ve permed my hair two times and I remember wanting my natural hair back and trust me it is hard and frustrating sometimes . Some days I just want to be done with transitioning but I know it takes time and I am trying to keep my hair healthy because before my hair would break off because I was not taking care of it but I am learning and trying :)
Honestly this videos should have more views. im transiting and this is the most informative and real video. I feel like my big sister its giving me advice
Thank you so much for your videos 🤗❤️ they help a lot
I haven't had natural hair since I was 11, I'm 25 now and decided to transition but I dont want to do the big chop cuz I don't like short hair on myself. This video helped me so much, thank you. I've also started a rice water treatment weekly, hopefully that helps my hair to grow faster as well.
I'm in month 2 of transitioning and very nervous. I was a faithful relaxing, flatiron and blow-drying person. I have done a twist out and loved it. That may be my go to for the coming months.
Nice glad you had luck with twist outs so early!! Keep going 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you!
I have being transitioning for 3months now and your video helps alot
I’m so excited to try the flexi rods
I started my transition journey a few months ago and have been struggling. I am glad I found your channel. I threw out of products I had and ordered a number of ones you recommended. Just wondering if you have recommendations on a edge control. I’m so used to sleek laid hair.
Your beautiful and your hair is lovely! Thanks for sharing your tips, tricks and hairstyles!
Hello my fellow transitioners. I started in March 25th or 26th 2019 but since then my hair has been in weaves and I haven't started deep conditioning but I plan to in December.
Today is my fifth month anniversary :'3 😳😳😳
Perfect timing!
@@AminaMarie YESSSS 😊😊😊😊
May 29th will be my one year! I went from having a completely full head of relaxed hair to a full head of type 4 curls with slight straight ends
i have started the curly girl method before and did it slightly wrong, seeing my curls being loose and not as tight as they should be discouraged me. i didn’t even know about this and thought i just had ugly hair. trying it again 😭
Thank you for this video i really needed to see some one else's experience throughout phase two. I am know at the fifth month and i am struggling with the styling process. During the first few months i used to braid my hair into two frensh braids and when i open them i get very nice wavy hair but know this method won't look as good.
This is really helpful thanks😍😫
Glad it could help! ❤️
I'm currently I yr transitioning and I love my new growth dat I want to cut off the relaxed ends asap
Do it!! (When you’re ready!) I did it around that time and did not regret it, I recommend just cutting some test pieces in the bangs area and if you love it keep going! 😍
I’ve been relaxed free for two years. I’m 66 yo and wanted be natural but I just can’t get my hair to look good at the third day. I’m thinking my hair is low porosity and density and I can’t get it puffy. I’m going to keep trying because a few people are saying it makes me look younger 😍
Day 3 is always when the frizz shows up, I just refresh the frizzy pieces in the morning with a refresher spray or leave-in mixed with water and it makes a big difference! You’re not alone, totally normal. I think refreshing is the key to natural hair!
Maybe also try applying your products when your hair is wet (not damp) and be a little more heavy handed! Helps definition last longer ❤️
Amina Marie Thank you both because I needed this info also! Much Love! ❤
I love this! My last relaxer was Dec 2019 and I was already growing out a pixie cut. This is a STRUGGLE! But I’m excited! Thanks for the tips!
Yesss you’ve got this, and the more damaged ends you trim the more your hair will thank you!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽💖 You’ll be there in no time!
Amina Marie Thank you!!! 🥰
Erica LaChelle my last relaxer was in dec too!
ꨄaishaꨄ it’s a struggle! I been doing all protective styles lol
Grips, grips, grips. Simple and effective. I had a tapered cut and grew it out with just grips which maintained the style but preserved the lenghth. March Will be two years without a cut was trimming it every 6 weeks but using the grips it still looks low at sides...brill
Your hair is beautiful! I love the hair color!
Thank you!! ❤️
As someone who has had her hair heat styled from a young age I mean my mom used everything from hot Combs to relaxers on my hair since I was little & now I just started trying to style my own hair since the quarantine began & I think that I'm ready to try a totally new style btw I'm trying to grow out my shoulder length hair & really love protective styles ( any suggestions for a protective style that won't cause any damage especially to my edges)
Thank you so much for these videos! I'm 5-6 months out and I'm still learning. How much breakage would you say is normal in this process? Does it just mean my hair is too dry?
I’ve been transitioning for almost 5 months and I’m finally getting out of the bad hair days and found a hair line I’m loving.
Yess love to hear it! Which one ended up working for you?
Amina Marie Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Yorgurt line and Mielle Organics
Amazing! Love how the Manuka Honey line feels and smells! 🙌🏽😍
@@AminaMarieI need help! I don't know anything about hair I want to go natural. I'm presently relaxing every 6 months. Protective style with crochet braids. What is the 1st step? When I take the braids out and not relax it's difficult combing my hair. I'm not good with styling. I just need help?
I love your hair, it's so beautiful.
Thank you so much!! 💖
I started my transitioning January 1, 2019. I have been using protective styles and blowouts in between my protective styles. I’m in between protective styles and my blowouts are not lasting as long as they use to. 🤦🏾♀️. I’m going to try twist out style. Can’t wait to get my braids next week
Awesome. I started my transition in February so this series is perfect and just what I need.
auramma yay!! Congratulations on 5 months!
@@AminaMarie thanks so much. My new growth isn't as much as I was hoping for and flexi rods is my new go-to style. Gets frustrating sometimes but discovering your channel just a week ago has definitely encouraged me to push forward.
Don’t worry! In 5 months, you’ll only see between 1.25” - 2.5” of growth, but stay at it and definitely enjoy the flexibility of your hairstyles during this time. I loved my flexi rod and perm rod sets on my transitioning hair! They don’t look the same now that my hair is fully curly so we just have to find the good and enjoy every chapter as they come! 😊
Wooow congrats been transitioning since feb my new growth is like 2 inch
@@ayshaanas1654 that's awesome. Congratulations! I have someone else to transition with 🙂. Your hair has grown a lot in 5months. I haven't measured my new growth when wet yet but in its shrunken state it's only 1inch 😞.
I’m just beginning to transition so a little confused on how to start cos my new growth is growing so fast coz of the oils I use for my hair... Ayurvedic. The too much shedding has stopped and I’m trying to figure out my curl pattern thought they don’t all look the same. Should I wait till the full come out to know how to deal with it.
I am in my 3rd month and my hair growth is pretty good. I do mini braids to keep my new growths moisturized... The problem is that I have no idea what is my curls pattern.. I use blue magic for this and it absolutely help my growth☺
No need to worry about your curl pattern until Phase 3! You’re in the growing and glowing stage, and your curl pattern really reveals itself the less weighed down it is by straight damaged ends! ❤️ Just gotta be patient and keep trimming those ends, you’re doing great!
Please help me how do keep moisture in the hair
Hello dear .i'm 4 months in transition ning and my hair is so dry even After moisturising .it's frustrating
I started transitioning several months ago however I do have permanent color in my hair. I try my best to deep condition weekly.
With color in your hair moisture is essential and so are trims! I transitioned with color still in my hair as well, just make sure those ends are good and you’ll be fine 😊
I am starting to transition today ✊🏾😁!

I have had braids non stop since the end of June and I just decided to go on and be natural. I have only just taken the braids I had before out and wash my hair and put some more in , so am i considered natural. My hair is wavy at my roots
I have problem witg hair styles that in the first day or 2 it gives me a perfect look and then my hair starts to get fizzy, tangled and if I refresh it it will go back like I didn't do any style
What lip gloss is that? It’s so pretty!!
I’m just now being to transition from relaxed to natural and I’m not sure where to start or what styles to do
I haven't had my hair permed since September and it hasn't grew alot but then I got braids for 2 months and my hair grew so much! now I have 2 textures and it's frustrating 😂 but I'm going natural because my relaxed hair was so dry and damaged I couldn't do anything with it that's how I got here because I had no idea what to do with my hair😂❤
This is where I'm at!
I did a bigchop in the Summer of 2018 Bcs i didn't like too take care of my hair and then I used a relaxer like one time and then straightened it one time and know I didn't use heat for 8 months soon 9.
And know I'm trying to define my curls
My last perm was March 2018 going natural since then. I've had banto knots. The crochets for some reason breaks my hair out what to do what to do.
I started my transitioning 5 months ago, November 2021. Had my cut in January. I’ve been heat free, protective styling, doing perm rods. But my hair has completely different textures in each section. The back has sleek curls, no frizz, but than the front and middle, which is more seen is literally just a ball of frizz, no curl pattern at ll. Literally just frizz, looks like a comb out curl
How do i dry my hair and after drying what do i apply
I started transitioning in late December 2018. I’m going to wait until my hair is at a length to my liking before I cut off the relaxed ends. But I’m thinking of cutting it the first Saturday of January 2020 and this series is helping understand what I have to do. 🤗😁
Yes!! You’ve got this! A year + in I was ready to cut too and so glad I did!
@@AminaMarie Update: I cut my hair 2 weeks ago , Its in the awkward length but the shrinkage is killing me
unfortunately i cannot get trims due to quarantine and i nor my parents trust me trimming my own hair. i’m so scared for when school starts, i feel my hair will be messed up during the morning and i would be rushed. also, at the roots my hair is just wavy and seems to easily get knots and all sorts of tangled. when will that change and is there a time where those waves at the roots start to curl or is my hair weighing it down? my natural hair is somewhere in the type 3 region.
I started transitioning in April, my frustration now is that my hair the point both meet tangle alot and I'm having breakage..
My curl pattern finally came in can’t wait to cut my hair‼️‼️
Woop woop!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I haven’t have a relaxer since january but didn’t officially start my hair journey until maybe 4-5 months ago and lemme tell you... ive had a really difficult time. nothing feels right and idk what to do with my hair most days (luckily i’m in the house everyday because of quarantine) but I usually do a bad low bun. I am thinking about trying wigs so my hair will be braided most of the time but the wig my mom bought for me I don’t love so wigs might not be for me (plus I have judgmental siblings). i also feel like i would look strange with braids. Transitioning has been way more difficult than I thought it would be mentally, even though my younger sister is also doing it as well, I feel like she’s having better luck. I just want to chop it all off sometimes. hopefully i’ll figure it out soon :(
what size is the orange and peach perm rods?
I'm at that point in my transition where what used to work and last long (waveformers/curlformers) do NOT last even half as long. My natural roots get REALLY frizzy and I need to restyle after 3 days instead of 6 before... I'll try to flexi-rod now
I hear you and I experienced the same! If you’re at about 5-6 months you may even be ready to graduate to phase 3 and play around with twist outs! Just posted the new video today 🤗 ua-cam.com/video/9SVkSo2-lBw/v-deo.html
I'm completely natural but I'll watch anyway😂😂 Great tips, when I was transitioning I did cornrows for a braidout
Lol thanks for the support sis! I wish I could get cornrows down!
Amina Marie mine were never perfect, but as long as they are neat enough to give you the crinkle pattern when dry, I would consider it a success!😂 love your hair btw, nice to see you back on UA-cam
How does one deal with different textured sections? My back and side hairs are defined, very sleek curls, I would say 3b/c but the middle to front is literally a frizz ball. Spongy type, almost like how ones hair looks like when comb out after curling. Very very coarse ball of hair. Its literally the one thing that makes me want to give up. Im 5 months in. I am using only professional products, the milkshake brand for that matter. No heat at all, did a curl cut
So I'm 6 months post relaxer..When you do your style is that done on your wash day?
Bad hair days are the worst. Three months strong and I just use turbans mostly. It's exhausting especially when you have a busy lifestyle. I need suggestions on shampoos to use
hi, is it okay to straighten your hair on special occasions ?
I am 6 months into transitioning and I haven't done any deep conditionings or anything as mentioned in video one! I need help! I keep my hair washed by my beautician but she doesn't know much about natural hair. Where do I start?
3 months in but havnt been deep conditioning... can you please recommend some good deep conditioners?
Started off with just skipping a few months until I reached the second wave of my pregnancy, but I kept going- Now one month from being one year without a relaxer.
Hi Amina, love your hair
Just have a few questions
1. Is it OK to keep in protective styles continuously like leaving it for a few weeks giving your hair like a week break and putting it up again in a protective styles.
2. Can I deep condition my hair if it's in box braids.
Thank you.
That’s what im doing but a 2-3 week break is better.
I been transitioning for a year and 4 months it tangle wit my perm hair how to u get not to
The front part of my hair just won't curl, I don't know i need protein or if it's moisture over load. Helpppp
When I take out my box plaits and attempt to detangling as I go and wash my hair and condition and all of that when it comes to detangling my hair just tangled up ! Any tips ?
Pre poo your hair with a oil
I have trouble cause i cant really tell what texture my hair is and what is not i can kinda tell but not really
my hair has been verryyy color damaged and head damaged and has appeared straight for years and nothing i try gets it back to my natural 3b curls. im pretty sure my hair is low porosity. i’ve tried big chopping a few times, and almost never use heat. still nothing. i need help please!!!
Would you recommend any of the mane choice products? I only recently found out about them and a lot of the natural hair youtubers I watch have used and liked it.
Surprisingly I haven’t tried any of their products! I’ve heard good things though and know they’re made specifically for natural hair so definitely worth trying if you have an idea of the products you’d like to try! Just check out reviews first!
when you get done washing your hair , how do you dry your hair without using any heat ?
Either air dry or I use my blow dryer between the cool and warm setting, never using high heat.
I’m having a hard time finding my curl ! Do I need a styling curl gel ⁉️
Did you big chop? Have you ever permed or relaxed your hair? If so it will take a couple months or even a year to get your curls back. Just make sure you take care of your hair and deep condition and it will be back in know time.
i’m about 7 months in! i definitely need to go for trims more often but they cost money 😬 and i wish there were more options for good looking styles! any ideas?
No worries! I trimmed my hair myself until my transition was over! Here were some of my favorite styles to do that are also office friendly :)

How do I deal with breakage
