Jiu-Jitsu Escapes | Hail Mary Submission Escapes

  • I am a big believer in backup plans at all stages. These are some very late considerations for escapes I refer to as Hail Marys. These are definitely not what you want to have as your primary or only option for escapes, and you would obviously like to never find yourself in these threats at all, but for last-second counters they are pretty solid.
    A lot of these exist, but for time constraints I just chose some of my favorites.

    People who dislike this kind of video are the ones stuborn enough to not understand that it doesnt matter how good you are no matter on which level of competition you are you can get caught up in a deep submission attack and I feel this should be taught more so you know what to do, you can even see at the highest of competition how many people has lost because they never practiced this

    I love the straight footlock escape. I have done something similar to escape, but nothing that could translate into a transition to the mount! Talk about turning the tables! Great work as always Eli! Keep on keeping on!

    Also at 4:35, the collar choke escape has got to be one of the smartest counters I have ever seen! How fortunate and grateful I am to learn jiujitsu, an art that never ends and constantly evolves, from innovative and insightful teachers. Wonderful.

      Knight Jiu-Jitsu I want to take up some Jiu Jitsu, but I don't want to spend years of my life studying it. I just want to learn the fundamentals, and be able to defend myself against Jiu Jitsu. But I don't like the fact that Jiu jitsu is so technical & sophisticated in which in a real fight you want to keep things simple.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  5 років тому

      Jiu-Jitsu is technical and sophisticated, but it isn't complicated. It is just about understanding how people tend to move and react to energy in certain positions. There are elaborate techniques and details sometimes, but at its essence, it is pretty simple. But it does take study and training like any style or art, just like boxing, wrestling or weapons training. A good instructor should be able to express that in their teaching and make the fundamentals easy to access and understand.

    So last winter some guy tried to punk me out and i flicked him with a jab and caught his tooth with my middle knuckle. This caused a split in my knuckle like the one you have on your hand. How the hell did you split your knuckle open?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  4 роки тому

      Mine didn’t happen quite like that. Haha. Mine was just from repetitive impact over time. The tendon split and I had surgery on it and I stupidly didn’t let it heal long enough. So now it’s deformed.
