1996 Chevy 6.5 to 5.9 12v Cummins

Hello & thank you for checking out my video! This is a brief run down & over view of my 1996 Chevy K3500 that I've swapped the original 6.5 out for a 12v Cummins.
Please keep in mind I am not a professional mechanic. I am simply a DIY'er that wanted a better platform to tinker with. So take my advice with a grain of salt & do some research before diving into a project like this.

Try going that fast with a 6.5 and 4:10s in the rear you would be picking up pieces of main bearing caps all over the highway

Did you have to change out the gas pedal to something like a '93 to run the Cummins?

Hoy did you wire your transmission ? I’m doing the same set up and I have problems with my 4l80. I’m also using A quick 4 transmission controller thanks

I'm not running a Quick 4 controller. Hit up Joel Jones over at AdventureVehiclesNorthWest or their youtube joneseysautoclub. They have more info on those controllers

Instead of the 4l80 cant you just save a lot of aggravation and use a mated tranny right off ?

1500 isn't a great idea, the factory small block is gonna be around 500-650lbs fully dressed, and a 5.9 is around 1400lbs from what I remember

How did you end up running your tach, from the alternator?

I connected the 6.5 tach "w" wire directly to the cummins alternator "w" terminal.
