Me too. Seems like the best way to put a dent in the population. I got some thin long handled Korean bbq tongs and stick the slugs in hot water or vinegar for a quick death.

It's just yeast and sugar ...you don't need to waste your larger or beer. Mix up some sugar and yeast and away you go.

The thing about beer traps is that for every one slug you drown, about 7 or 8 escape with nothing but a hangover 🤷🏼‍♂️

I used beer traps before ,but it seemed to attract the black beetle ,which in the end is a predator for killing slugs. After finding 6 black beetles in the traps decided to do away with this and now use Strulch Garden Mulch which stops the slugs and also the weeds. Great channel keep up the great content and happy gardening all .

@@AThornyPot Hi yes this is really only my second year growing veg/fruit in garden. But did a lot of getting my info off your channel and others . The Strulch comes in a 100 Litre bag ,it is very light and was surprized how much area it covers, they say 3 squared meters, or 32 square feet .It costs £10 a bag ,I still have a lot left over and keeps the slugs at bay and also the weeds. You should give try makes the veg patch and raised boarders look so tidy.

I've found that too, which is a bit of a hassle. Some stones and a bit of wood makes a simple cover. 👍. I've found that the beer can be watered down to which saves some pennies.

I put a small slate on top of the paper cup that keeps the rain out ...cut slots on the side of the paper cups / yoghurt pots to allow them in, if you have pots with clear plastic lids all you have to do is quickly lift the slate to see if anything is in there. Good luck.

I take my garden sheers and simply cut them in half. The egg piles are carefully removed with a teaspoon, put them in a freezer plastic bag, close it with a knot and put it in the garbage to be burnt.

It’s not about beer. It’s the yeast they are attracted to. You can just mix sugar and some yeast in some warm water , and pour that into the traps. Cheaper than beer.

I have watched several videos where they tested egg shells and they did not stop the slugs. Apparently the slime they secret protects their bottom or "foot" from being damaged by sharp things. I have always watched videos where they rolled the slugs in DE and that did not harm or repel them either.
