- The British army has issued an unprecedented video statement following allegations of soldiers using a picture of Jeremy Corbyn for target practice and six soldiers being arrested for alleged sexual assault. In the video, posted on the army's UA-cam channel, the chief of the general staff, Gen Sir Mark Carleton-Smith, says: 'Where serious allegations are proven against members of the army … it demonstrates indiscipline that is wildly at odds with the values and the standards that represent the fabric of not just our army, but the nation's army'

Why does this look so much like a parody? Did no-one notice"hang on a minute, this looks a joke!" at any point during the production process?
Imagine it being you're job to take orders from people who speak to you like that.
Hands on hips, deep, well pronounced machismo voice. Imagine having a pint with this dude without finding an excuse to leave the pub as quickly as possible. It's hard to believe that it's not a parody.
Clicked on this thinking it was a Mitchell and Webb sketch
brendan wong 😂
Same
This countryhas gone full Brasseye
This comment just so belongs in the JARN DANKETIES!
How dare they make fun of Biggus Dickkus.
A true British comedy and army chief only Britain can produce.
monty python couldn't have said it better.
@@mainmast8955 he is gonna call in the spanish inquisition next to really get a grip on the troops , it will be hot curling tongs all around applied to ones nether regions !
Biggus Dickus is an Imperialistic Roman tyrant running a MILITARY dictatorship, while Jeremy Corbyn is only leader of Her Majesty's Opposition, in what is supposed to be a democratic society where the military is meant to stay out of politics . If you can't see the important difference then the Biggus Dickus in this discussion is YOU.
This Muppet should be directing his drivel to his traitorous muppet masters in parliament, not the British soldier.
Why is he stood like that?
Super serious.
The army needs some emotional wisdom, this pomposity is immature.
What is immature and unacceptable is the behavior of these soldiers, they should be the army’s next target practice.
MrMorethanexist If that’s the case I guess you‘re ok with Antifa demolishing your house. For the lolz.
@MrMorethanexist seriousness isnt your strong suit either. Much like the British Parliament
His tone sounds a bit like a headmaster lecturing a whole school, during assembly, about the recent actions of some pupils!
He may be on point, but That man’s delivery is an embarrassment to the Army.
Captain rimmer reporting for duty! 🙈
Looool
Second Technician Rimmer Sir!
*HIS HIPS DON'T LIE* 😂😂
lol
Oh my days!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You've got to be fully topped on your pelvic thrust exercises to project this kind of power.
Majd hahahahahahaha 😂🤣😂🤣
I havent been so embarrased in all my life. I am very cross indeed. There will be no luncheon for those involved.
I don't remember this level in Command and Conquer.
doubt he could Command or Conquer ? more akin to camomile tea and a kiplings french fancy in the MOD whitehall mess - ATENSHUN !!!
Now go to your room and think about what you've done, mister.
This IS a parody...surely? What a joke! (not the allegations I hasten to add)
Why? Whats your gripe? Seems like a valid speech to make.
the500mphtortoise it is a totally valid speech to make. The behaviour is reprehensible, and its right for the leader to say so. The way that it has been executed is poor (stance, tone, rhythm and awful CGI background) and leaves it open to mockery and affects therefore the credibility of the speaker and the message.
@@quote4yourboatq4yb20 I thought it was a good speech and what stance/tone do you want? slouched over mumbling? People can make fun of anything, thats what meme culture does, the important thing is that it communicates the correct message which i think it does. Wouldnt have written it any differently.
I thought also this was parody. This man is the walking talk character of English soldiers, very funny,
are all like this in The Guardian British Army?
@@ohyeahyeah973 British soldier might I add, Scotland England and Wales and NI.
Tell you what the Army needs more than anything.
A Creative Director and a PR Director.
This should have been handled through chain of commands. Not publicized and put on the internet.
Now you all look like out of control sexual deviants.
They are embarrassing themselves.
Get a better P.R. Person.
C British army is no different to anyone else they all commit abuses at some point and you get idiots everywhere. Who think there above the law. By doing change of command doesn’t stop these morons abusing people feel sorry for this poor 17 year old girl
Are you suggesting that they tell the poor girl that her sexual assault will just be tossed off to the side and forgotten about. The reason it’s been made public is to show that the army won’t stand for this. In my opinion the army has handled the situation professionally and sufficiently and I hope all the recruits involved are dishonourably discharged and sent to a civilian prison.
Smashed it
Jimmi K that is a completely different situation.
Looks like he’s doing a parody of Arnold J Rimmer from Red Dwarf
Words cannot describe how little charisma this Monty Python ripoff has.
We'd love to see his reaction if you said this to his face :)
Steve Gandalf I’m 95% sure I weight more than this walking, talking caricature.
ffs mate you missed april frist by 5 days

@@404killer U WOT MATE?
At first I thought it's a parody tbh but yeah, he seem to mean what he says but do the others see it like that? A bit ancient init?
I think that stiffness is intentionally ^^ but yeah i get what you mean.
No wonder everyone in the army wants to sign off 😂
Ahh, Army public relations. Missing the mark by miles again... 🤣
Did Monty Python accuse them of being cannibals?
No podium? And green screen?
Not to mention the broken snooker cue pointy stick and laser pen ....
if you are wondering why he is wearing camouflage its in case he spills his camomile tea down himself , or gets a choccy stain from his mister kiplings french fancy , its dangerous in the MOD
canteen in whitehall , stealth is all important , adapt and survive !
Obviously not seen the How Not To Be Seen training film by M.Python
@@Ben773807 nope i'll check it out )
We don't all sound like we've been to private school by the way he's got that voice every American thinks we sound like that haha he's one in a million
Exactly!...it's this kind of fuckin' Muppetry (plus still having a Royal fuckin' family in 2019/ plus Richard Curtis films) that makes the rest of the world think we're all a bunch of silly c***ts!!
I honestly thought this was a parody video made by the guardian.. WTF
Why is he standing like that lol
To give his own troops a serious Bollocking, Freedom of Expression/speech is not acceptable in this country, so the highest member of the British Army has to do the Nanny States bidding, and call his own troops actions of merely shooting at a picture of Anti British Jeremy corbyn on the range as being Unacceptable and somehow anti British, Nanny state syndrome has gone too far in this country, its turning us in to a laughing stock.. the guy whose picture was shot at, does not have the best interests of Britain in his heart anyway, next time lads Shoot his picture till there is nothing left. If all the ranks of the British Army kept on doing this and publishing it, it would be up to our state to decide, If being this much of a nanny state is worth it, because the Army will literally end up with no one left in it.
Probly been busy practicising the timewarp around the ministry of defence offices in whitehall !
Starship Troopers satire springs to mind. This world is becoming strange.
"I'm doing my part", say the Guardian staff as they provide a platform for the army devoid of any criticism.
He looks like Michael Flatley at the start of River Dance.
he has more pairs of tights than all the girls in the riverdance line up , he's a regular at harrods lingerie department , he needs them for doing the timewarp
Michael says that he resembles that remark...
This looks like a cut scene from Red Alert
He just needs a red nose and a rainbow wig.
Vibe of this announcement feels close to what Sir David Morrison did with similar circumstances in Aussie military.
Lame
Is he taking the piss? ‘Look angry and sound stern’
Let's get real here, your not paying these soldiers to use their brains and think logically, you pay them to follow orders without question.. ..like an animal...so don't be upset when your animals act the way you made them....BLAME YOURSELVES.
@Rich Jenks you are making my point by replying with only fallacies.
Speaking as ex-Army, this guy speaks the truth.
I was waiting for the line “let’s forget all this nonsense! We came here to party!”
*queue the techno and flashing lights*
Only a Rupert can get away with this this x April fool...
This looks like it came from a low budget video game or video played before a roller coaster
Agree with all comments made - this guy is not an intellectual heavyweight, just an establishment pawn.
He looks pissed
" Not ! Only is it down right unacceptable its rudywell illegal !.This is a trailer for the New Monty Python flying circus show ...surely... This guy is the new Graham Chapman...
Think that's what they mean by 'Mansplaining.' LMAO
It's Monty Python! Sergeant Major marching up and down
This looks like a cutscene from a videogame.
Lol nice greenscreen
In my day, our officers were of a different calibre.
Is this.. real? I can't take him seriously, it sounds like he's doing a sketch
I think I’ve seen a porno start out like this. Lol 😂
is his name STORMY ARMY DANIELS ?
I say old chap, those Tommy's have been up to some right tomfoolery
Feel like I'm in school again with that stance.
Yes, his tone certainly reminds me of the tone a headmaster might use.
Kept waiting for him to warn us about the brotherhood of nod.
Totally thought it was Arnold j Rimmer
Takes me back to when the headteacher would tell everyone off
This makes us look ridiculous.
I thought this was a joke at first, what is with the hands on the hips for a start 😂
Ah well, so no Brexit military fairy Coup then!
Next it will be the RA using EU flags for target practice.
We need a man like this to head up our UK schools - firm direct & to the point - how many children & adults have lost total respect & direction in a system too scared to say anything to upset the modern day “little darlings” ....... Direct & to the point discipline & respect is desperately needed for too many of our future adults !
Some youngsters might respect this man's "authority" and stern manner, but it's easy to visualise that there are some who would just laugh at him trying to bear down on them in this manner, and there are also a handful who would simply punch him in the face.
What may have been an "appropriate" way to speak to people in certain circumstances 50 or 75 years ago just won't cut the ice with a lot of people nowadays. Times have changed. People in Britain no longer defer to those of a "superior" social status.
Steve Gandalf points taken - but what the hell can we do with a percentage of youth nowadays that just don’t give a damm - it’s horrific & frightening for ‘our’ future....
well if you want your kids taken behind the bike sheds for a damn good rogering eton style , then full steam ahead i say , be just like being back at the work house !
troffmeister68 Eaton generalised & prejudiced comments aside - what do you think is happening to the kids nowadays then ? what should ‘we’ do????
Feckless self obsessed breeding parent/s - lack of roll models, society telling them they can get away with anything- no respect for others life let alone their own ...... we are encouraging the youth of today to be weak & insufferable, who in turn will be the moronic pathetic adults of ‘our’ future!!!!! Over to you my Eaton buddy
@@sandmanjono1239 assuming the toff did go to eton , its actually Eton College Windsor SL4 6DW , as per google . I dunno what to do , actually i do but my opinions and methods would be way too extreme to post or for most peoples pallets , so i will refrain from giving it the large , but lets start with politicians that are not toffs , who respect democracy , referendums , and one man one vote on democratic principles , just look at brexit as a microcosm of this , lets look at immigration , and many other issues , the whole country is and has gone down the toilet from the day i was born , and it even pre dates that !
Was that a Monty Python bit? How could anyone take this announcement seriously?
Merely reflecting the decline in standards among the populace, not that armies of any nation are beyond inappropriate behaviour or that which falls below standards one might hope for.
all that happened was a few rounds going in to a paper target of Jeremy corbyn what is the big deal?
@@nonstop9907 over your head, would take too long to explain what he means
So you just re-uploaded an army press release talking about "allegations" of things for which there's video evidence and didn't even attempt to criticise anything about it. British press is getting as bad as the Americans.
This does indeed look like bad acting. He would probably come across more authentic wearing a formal uniform, sitting behind a desk, instead of trying to appear "tough".
The decor doesn't help, it's completely ridiculous as if it's a news studio or something.
There's also the matter of his words, which are hard to follow. For fuck's sake, speak plainly. "The fabric of the bla-dee-bla" isn't going to convince the rapists and delinquents in the army that they should start to behave.
Embarrassing
100% when he first joined up he saw racist actions and said nothing. I'd bet he got involved too.
The hypocrisy from the top brass is sickening
Wow, lots of things have become illegal these days. I remember when this would of been considered a joke.
Doesn't his tone remind you of a headmaster lecturing a whole school during assembly?
at ETON yep !
Rik Mayall, Lord Flashheart of Blackadder fame, surely.
Completely out of Touch with the Real world and working class soldiers He seems more interested in image rather than those that do the bleeding for their country
Serious or not the behaviour is shameful and it brings to the light the moral and mentality in that environment.
Oh wow there might be some morality issues with people who sign up to go kill other people.
I was waiting for the punchline. Why does this come off like parody.
"The standard you walk past is the standard you accept". Former Lieutenant-General David Morrison.
And the same guy that didn't want to admit or apologise to a former LTCOL that was innocent and not take part in the Jedi Council scandal and cause him to commit self harm when this douchebag got the Australian of the year while hes sitting in thr hospital in a suicidal state. I think his standards of not being a man and facing up to this issue is not acceptable.
I just thought it was a parody because it was an army bloke on the Guardian
As Graham Chapman impressions go, this is quite poor.
It's a shame they only used a practice target.
Jenny Gavin-Wear One Labour MP has already been assassinated by a neo-Nazi. A second Labour MP was to have been murdered by another far right activist, though this was averted by undercover work. Jeremy Corbyn was recently subjected to assault by a Brexit supporter. A number of Conservative MPs have been menaced in public to the point of requiring police protection. Members of Parliament now receive an increasing volume of death threats which must be taken seriously. And here you come along whimsically lamenting that the Labour leader hasn't been murdered by a team of British soldiers. You may think it's amusing to advocate political killings in the streets of the capital, but as far as I'm concerned, you're right down in the gutter with the assassins and their ideological enablers.
@@vestibulate you really need to check your facts.
@@jennygw1883 What a pathetic response. They're not my facts. They're general knowledge. Have you heard of MP Jo Cox? She was murdered in the street by a Nazi. Or MP Rosie Cooper? She just revealed in the House of Commons that a far right zealot was stopped from killing her only thanks to an infiltrator's information. I could go on, but what's the point? You're clearly too dim and unprincipled to understand why it's wrong to maim and kill people whom you dislike.
If this is not a farce of ?? It is ridiculous. Insulting to Soldiers Families who have died fighting some idiotic WAR.
Why did he have his hands on his waist like that🤣
"In my 20 years of teaching..."

Dont make fun of the poor rupert, he's going to do the Time Warp dance in the next video,
I've got a 58 Pattern LBE belt as well just like Gen Sir Mark Carleton-Smith.
The QM wants it back - along with the parchment 1033...
this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen
Authority is all in the hips apparently.

I'd take him more seriously if he finished his Macerana moves.
France Halder could of learnt a thing or two from him
Honestly, i checked comments to verify is it a parody or not?

He's just come to the end of a Flamenco dance flourish, and........ Hands on hips!
Is this real? Surely not.
Thank you for delivering this very posh and colonial speech in the most colonial way during the colonial days. Unfortunately many people didn’t take any notice of this type of posh speaking.
I bet the Queen choked on her cornflakes seeing this. Philip's reaction not for sharing at this time in the morning.......
