last thing you want to do is insult someone who might one day save your life.
That's precisely why "Diversity is Our Strength" is a lie.
All of history shows diversity of peoples within units and armies creates friction and disincentivizes cohesion and unity. Diversity of specialty (ie unit specialization) offers tactical/strategic flexability/adaptability, but specialized units comprised of similar peoples retain greater army cohesion.
Regardless of insults, regardless of attitudes, regardless of perceptions; peoples that have a shared culture/language/religion/heritage/ethnicity create bonds more readily, more strongly, than those without.
But britsh army now more like terrorist group.
Did you remember what happened in Ireland?
Those racists lost a great person in general, hate racists. Love to the guy, hope you’re doing well!
We getting on with life boss and thankful for everything.
They don't care that's the point
A nation founded on hate, opression, theft, rape, racism, salvery and and murder can not abandon the principles it was built on and still maintian power. Acccepting truth is a very hard thing to do because it requires letting the ego die which is very painful. I took me 44 years of lying to myself before I accepted what I had witnessed my entire life as reality.
Racism cost them a great soldier
100% was probably on the biff and had been since training with a cold injury
They don't care about it
Sad to see a great soldier have to leave
In the public services there should be no room for racism and discrimination at all, they all need to put their differences aside when helping the country
It shouldn't exist anywhere mate.
Blacks aren't British Muslims aren't British. Half cast aren't British. The British are white Scots Irish English Welsh
But it's happening in so called multicultural UK! Dam shit
It's cultural and systematic in Europe and they aren't ready to lose their white privilege so racism will continue to rise.
I served in Afghan and our unit was made up of soldiers from all backgrounds, rich, poor, white, black, Fijian, Nepalese etc. Never once did I see these brothers as anything other than brothers, I’d sooner lay my life down for any of them lads than anyone else. Racism may be an issue, but on a whole I never saw it. That’s my 10 pence worth 🤷♂️.
✔️
SUCKMEOFF ROPER oh that’s rich acting as if only whites are racist oh boy
Not everyone is racist boss. I never said that but the system protected those that were racist. The system can do more. I enjoyed some of my time in the British army but was ruined by a few. People like yourself show us that majority of blokes out there are genuine. We thank you
Funny how a white person says that
@@sm1468 Because he was speaking his truth. From actual experience.
I have experienced racism from white army men when I worked with at the Milton Keynes Covid-19 test site, some tried to run me over in their car aswell as microaggression behaviours.
I've always had respect for the army but not now.
The amount of stories I've heard of toxic masculinity and racism is abominable.
The army seems to attract Far-Right people.
@@COVID-sd8zz nope the army is full of racist thugs.
I noticed that too
That's how it always has been.
Proud of you
My Fijian brother,
My Sikh brother
My Gurkha brother
We hide the tears
You have no fear
Queen & country ?
It shouldn't matter what colour or background they have, you / we should be proud of all of them or that will only make you as ignorant as the ones you despise
Gurkhas are one of the strongest groups in the army, fittest and strongest
I doesn’t matter what religion or race ur from it matters and what you do for the country. I’m a Pakistani Cristian and I want to join the marines. I just hope that they won’t be racist to me because up north in England I used to suffer from racism.
Elijah Paul bro goodluck but 1 thing you should know is that you have to be very strong mentally and i am not saying that because you’re joining the army I saying it because you are a minority joining the army. They are very racist to the point where this so called banter turns into discrimination and harassment.
You missed out the white brothers.... Why?
Drunken though: What if everyone that hears their fellow soldier being called a racial slur by a superior step forward and yells "Permission to speak!"?
I’m Iranian born there too, and this scares me
Don’t bother fam i am mixed race myself and fact of the matter is they will never accept us as one of their own. I really don’t know why but hatred for the minority is very real it’s better to go back home and join the army of your home country they will honour and respect you
Hope our brother are watching this and learning... Joking around with some people can be your detriment, A brother as heavy and mighty as this, should have a no nonsense attitude! Period!
True, I was always humble and joking around and they took advantage
What terrible advice. You saying that not joking around with people and acting like a emotionless dick will stop racists being racist. It doesn't work like that.
David looks in great shape, I bet he was a great solider as well! His mind step is healthy
We have to urgently rid this world of racism, discrimination, hunger, poverty and ignorance. This can only be done with the collective effort of humanity working together.
You can never get rid of racism it’s sad
Fallout: Europe okay dim wit
Fallout: Europe,
someone didn’t go to school.
@Fallout: Europe Incorrect. Most racism is to racial minorities.
Easier said than done
who is in the army from the commonwealth? particularly black please hit me up. I need to talk to you
Sadly racism is rife in the army
You got to be joking anyway we only need people who are totally loyal to the country no matter what color of skin the person. Its really down to the officers to control this and stamp it out the moment it begins.
tone deaf dude.
Some people confuse being friendly with being weak... Stop joking around and laughing at the work place people. In the movies they always show the most respect to the serious types. It's sad cause it can break your spirit. But you put a barrier up for your own dignity's sake... Peace brov
Its weak to think this, you can ne kind and friendly but also strong. You just need to enforce your boundaries firmly. People who go through life thinking like this always seem miserable and their lack of social skills prevents them from succeeding in work and in their personal lives.
You only got that like from me because of that "peace brov" AAAA i love making fun of my country
True they do confuse being friendly and weak. I went from being the friendliest guy to being to most miserable person ever but we thankful because now we at a different place
@@BlacksmithBetsYes, but what the OP said is true 9/10 times. Being serious gets you less friends but it gets you more respect
I left because of racism and nothing getting done I wanted to do 22 years only lasted 7.5

Interesting that they have two artillery officers interviewed, 🧐
There is a big problem with a few of the Artillery officers especially at Captain level - I know this as I work alongside one now in civvy street who seems to be out of touch with other cultures especially black culture. Demands respect yet thinks everyone who disagrees with him has a bad attitude and had a chip on their shoulder!
I think the Black one was 29 Commando , looks much like a good mate of mine when I was in the Airborne. Good to see there are Black/Mixed race officers as there were NONE when I was in.
Typically white British way of seeing other people who help them
This is what makes me reconsider whether this is what I want
Don't be put off with my experiences boss, you will have a good time. Just be wise on how you deal with situations, I had no one to advice me.
I think, there are a lot better things, E.G. perhaps; a career, in sports/tech. etc., if you can?? Charity -I.E. -Instead of "bombing those [very] people (E.G. Arabs/AfriCANs etc.)"; you could be help-ing them!!??
@@m.k.s.7417 I was thinking of joining the Army as a doctor

Typical British Army I know guys who can relate to this.
I knew Lt Col Jonathan Buxton as a Capt good guy nice to see he made it to Lt Col. Shame it's on a video like this I have only seen racism once in my career early on back in 1999 to early 2000's
Especially when it comes from a superior, if everyone else doesn’t tolerate it, it won’t happen, the only reason people talk about it out loud is to try and get a laugh and form a friendship group with people that have the same ideology.
It's a good sign people of feeling comfortable to complain it's a sign of progress.
Honestly I really hope that its not racist, i want to join after i finish college
Go for it mate, just know how to deal with it and learn from pple like me. I had no one to warn me. You will enjoy it
Is a pity for them to bully just because he is black,am so ashamed for the leaders who did not tried to solved his bullying but rada showed him how he could resign wit different reason, shame on them!
Europe belongs to the indigenous European peoples, Britain is no exception. This is non-negotiable.
And you are? Too late mister now go and cry 😂 why not kick them all out and you, I mean you come and do all the jobs, let's start with your doctor, wait, you ain't educated enough 😂
Why white European destroyed Africa? Just tell me why ?
Hey fool
I learned one thing in the Army. If you are being bullied then you respond with your fists. If you are being bullied and do nothing about it then you have only yourself to blame. Even if it costs you you'r career it's better to go out swinging. Don't just take it and end up mentally fragged like me. Also don't speak up about mental health no matter how much they tell you it's OK. You'll just be branded as a SSAFA Case.
I was never a fighter boss plus I was dealing with an officer and a Sgt. I wish I had been warned before I experienced that.
@@nkomo85 Nor was I. Never did me any favours. We're all wise after the fact I guess. Growing a pair would have saved me and my kids a whole lot of pain.
The interview with the Captain should’ve been longer. He had a lot on his chest he wanted to let off.
No one talking about how much dave is squatting, guy is pulling 200 kgs easy repa
Sad, this must end!
Interesting video. My brother served in the British Royal Marines. I served in the U.S. Marines. We both have very similar stories of racial inequalities. I responded physically whenever racism reared it's ugly head. I won! I retired!
Semper Fi!
I was days away from signing up I didn’t attend my medical after seeing this documentary and some news paper articles made me think twice. Am still unsure. Has they had two white officers in end of this documentary talking about racism in the army I would have had more respects instead of interviewing one white and the other mixed race
I think the bbc and the papers try to make something more of a problem than it is - they seem to just try to create division.
It’s better to join the raf
@@davinabailey7008 why is that ? I wish I never saw that documentary . My medical was two days away. They was interested in me joining the forces. At the same time i couldn’t ignore the documentary. It doesn’t help with recruitment
If you’re going to let a 20 minute television programme about 1 persons experience in the army put you off then I don’t think your mentally robust enough to do the pass the training and do the job anyway.
@@gertrudehumpadink1405 it wasn’t a 20 minute documentary after further digging it was the correct decision. Clearly you didn’t watch the documentary fully if you had then you would have known there where many victims and sufferers and there is a institutional problem that exist. As for me not fit enough or robust. You don’t know me. It would be easy for you to say not fit or robust as you won’t have a hurdle initially like I would. How ever the navy am still considering and they seem to be very interested in my application.
19 RA..... They're good at it!
Nah not from what i seen but i guess it varys sad to hear after all these years racism still a thing
Dual nationals should not even have the vote let alone any position of political or legal authority. Because we have this unworkable illogical notion of multiculturalism which is really multinationalism then there is an inherent conflict with patriotism. Thus is made even more untenable because we allow people here who keep citizenship of countries where they are allowed to be patriotic and then our government even encourages their allegiance to other countries here in Britain. It is insane and the problems are due to a lack of clarity about nation and allegiance rather than race, and all studies show Whites are by far the least racist of the races. I believe in the Japanese model whereby if you are an eccentric and are willing to jettison your other passand fight against your country of heritage then you can get the vote here and join the forces. If you are like Rishi Sunak and want three passports then you shouldn't even have the vote let alone any position of political or legal authority.
unity is crucial for army, so army is not a place of the diversity. Army must be as homogeneous as it is possible cause it's keep army with better war spirit or you should make it as diverse as it possible like roman legions did but that can make army not so loyal to the country but to the commander

And ethnic origin people are not racist against whites, Don't make me laugh it works both ways. Sick of hearing "it`s because i am black "same old excuse every time.
They are no systems in place to opress whites... But there are systems in place to oppress people of color... Not admiting this fact is part of the problem of your racism
@@jedeyemastar5648 There you go again same excuse. Just work hard, study hard and you will succeed in life. As for colour Southern Asians have made a successful and prosperous go of it in many countries follow that very model. No racism just stop making excuses.

I'm gonna watch this on Iplayer. I'm now slightly worried as a British indian female wanting to join now.
Ladies are well looked after in the forces. Im ex Air Force trust me
What makes you think that corporate world is less racist? If you are living as a visible minority in any white country, you are bound to face racism. No matter what you do, who you are.
@@Ilovepineapple that is true, but what I'm worried about is the fact that no one will do anything about the racism. Corporations have unions and contracts that are semi short term. You can walk out and leave when you want, in the army that's different. Right?
@@gwood701 thank you, that's really reassuring 😊
@Amber Mac what branch of the armed forces do you want to join?

It doesn't matter what you join basic training is designed to teach outstanding teamwork, a sense of belonging and can do spirit.
You will make the best of friends in the services.
I did twelve years and regardless of creed, colour or religious beliefs all and I repeat all my colleagues where treated exactly the same.
You will be safe and looked after.
You will be able to raise any concerns and please please please join. I hope this helps.
There is what an be considered racism but in all all honesty the forces have there own sense of humour and banter and most I saw was just in fun ethnic minorities are seen as brothers and sisters just like the whites are. Its all how you take it really. If I took to heart all the crap I got called I'd have more issues than I already have. You'll get bad eggs in every walk in life but it's far from systemic in my opinion.
I heard that the British military is one of the most tolerant organisations around.
i feel sorry for him only just to be a white man
Ethnically, I come from an Asian background, my dad is originally from Kashmir and my mum's side is from Pakistan. I was seriously considering joining the army but after doing my research, I am quite confused about it now because I don't know where I would fit in. I have been looking around and researching ever since completing my studies. I have worked really hard, both physically as well as mentally to prepare. However, for the past few days, I have felt very underwhelmed. I think it's probably best if I don't join the British army now. I don't think it's worth it. Perhaps MI5 or National Crime Agency would be my best bet. Just saying, this racism problem has to stop in the army because if ethnic minorities as a whole eventually refuse to join because of it then it shall weaken our army, heavily and therefore our country's national security will take a massive dent. We're a multicultural society yet I had to listen to my parents rant about fear of losing me, fear of unease if I ever were away to serve or racism. 'Racism' based caveats kind of raised my eyebrows a little bit but I decided to research. All I can say is that recently in 2019, we had witnessed seeing England winning the 2019 cricket world cup for the first time ever in our history; it was the most multicultural team in the competition that had done it for England. If it had worked for the England cricket team then it could also work for our country on every single level if racism was non-existent. It's a shame that it is, it really is a shame.
This should have been carried out by a black reporter
