UA-cam is finally promoting your channel - congratulations on your growth and success! You make awesome content
I MEAN quality has also increased too
good
i watch all your videos, you should have promoted this guy i would've found him earlier
+1 diplomatic reputation
Just don't give him gold on patreon. Otherwise the conquistadors will come for him.
el dorado was the biggest prank in history.
@Swapn Lok no el dorado
*Kings of Europe have entered the chat*
"It's just a prank bro!"
jacondo What about the swap between the names of Iceland and Greenland?
@@misseli1 yeah that one is true
Thousands of Europeans searching for El Dorado have been murdered by the jungle in revenge for the conquest of the peoples from whom the legend came.
The real gold was that transition into the patreon plug. That was smooth.
The term "El dorado" does technically translate to "The golden", yet reading it in Spanish makes sense unlike english. Golden is a descriptive state attached to the masculine term "el"
It's the difference between saying "the runner" and "the running man".
The golden one.
The golden man
@@tedfebo1741 pretty much this
The runner would mean a Trackstar (athlete)
The running man would be a jogger
As a Colombian, I can tell you, for a native english speaker, you have pretty good pronunciation. Great video, as well, congratulations!
I noticed that too.
it’s a good start
I can too, EL DORADO
I didn't think he was a native English speaker
As a German I can say, no he doesn't xD
It’s Nice to see the growth of the channel finally reflecting the quality of the videos.
Not yet. 32 thousand subscribers are peanuts for this channel.
I think it was just a few k a week back though so no reason to assume the growth stops here
It's pretty amazing how this channel is exploding!
@@ahmeder6370 34 now lol
@Todd howard ok now it's 39. That's kinda amazing
I want to congratulate you, I'm Colombian and you managed to create an extremely well-informed summary of the origin and consequences of the legend of el dorado.
A few curious facts you might be interested in:
1) The international airport of Bogota is named after this legend its name is "El Dorado International Airport".
2) Another piece of evidence that connects the Legend with Lake Guatavita and the Muisca peoples is the finding of a gold replica of the sacred raft that the Zipa would be loaded onto. It currently resides in the gold museum in Bogota, home of the single largest collection of pre-Columbian gold artifacts in the world.
Once again I want to congratulate you on the quality of the video and the careful explanation of our native traditions and beliefs.
That's great to hear :) I used images of the sacred raft several times in this video actually, although it wasn't actually found at Guatavita! It's always nice to hear from the people who directly relate to the subject material!
Subbed last week at 9k subs, now its 31k.
This is the birth of a big UA-cam channel.
feel honoured to be in its presence
Me too
I subbed a few days ago and it was at 25k subs, this morning was watching his vids and he was at 40k, just now I check and he's at 43k, this is some crazy growth
Gabriel Gustavson 2 hours later its 44k oof
It might get 100 k subs by the end of this month
@@maakinsaeed8675 Just under 47,000 now (I've just subbed as well).
35k?! Wow, looks like the algorithm has finally discovered what an awesome channel you have!

“Am I nothing to you?”
He always was...#godmode bro...
We’re at 440k now

It makes sense that "El Dorado" would refer to a man, since in Spanish "The Golden City" would be a feminine noun translated as "La Ciudad Dorada" or "La Dorada"
Yes
Just two weeks someone commented you had 31k subscribers and as of now you have 151k Subscribers that's a huge milestone! Congrats Atlas Pro, you got a new subscriber, Thank you for the content.
Watching two years later as he nears 900,000 subs
and now he has 946k subscribers and yesterday he had 945k this is some pretty good growth
2 years later and almost 1 million followers.
1.09 million now
El Dorado would be better translated as "The Golden One"
Yes, in Spanish you don't need to use the noun if it's obvious, you just use the adjective
I'm a portuguese speaker, but I'm wondering why the city wasn't called "La Dorada" if it was named after a city (ciudad)? This give credity to the idea that named after a man.
@@idm850 sim!
@@idm850 But you can also argue with "El Lugar" meaning The Place, thus El Dorado make sense.
No. In context of a Muisca leader throwing gold into a lake, the correct translation would be The Golden Man.
Its so nice seeing an undersubscribed channel finally getting big.
It's been a crazy week for me :P
@@AtlasPro1 it will probably just continue to grow!!
The Maya were not an empire, either, but also a collection of city states (usually at war with one another).
Apart from that, amazing video. :)
except for a short period, where the mayapan league existed, was similar in how it worked to the HRE, a elective monarchy, elected by minor monarchs and chiefs part of the federation.
@@alecity4877 Then its still not an empire but hust like the Greeks
@@petergeramin7195 yeah, I like to call the mayans the greeks of the americas.
lol I wrote the exact same reply, saw yours, so I erased mine :D
But you're right, it was a civilization of independent city states and kingdoms, but had no single unified ruler, unlike the Aztecs. They shared a similar culture to each other, but would never consider themselves the same as each kingdom.
In Perú there were lots of civilizations with city-states like the mochicas for instance. Those civilizations were conquered by Incas but there were almost as complex as them.
I am Colombian, and I was always fascinated by this story, in Bogota there is the "Museo del Oro", and jewelry and crafts are excised, recovered from a lagoon
UA-cam Algorythm stepped to Atlas Pro's side and now people get his Videos suggested
Well, UA-cam has had some bad press recently. So it is time to repent and do some good.

This is like RealLifeLore but so much better
Labyrinth9000 real life lore has too many sponsors
@Labyrinth9000 Less bullshit, more accurate
I really enjoy RLL, but this is much better
Just discovered this channel I love it !
Glad to have you!
Bet you haven't discovered El Dorado :)
Same for me!
Both Norse and Muisca beliefs have a creator that has 2 black birds. It's interesting how 2 cultures thousands of miles apart have similar beliefs.
@@aapzehrsteurer9000 it is just interesting to me how the 2 cultures on oposite sides of the planet use the same exact symbol, both of 2 black birds to represent the same things.
chance, birds are super symbolical and their meanings are important things

You deserve a medal out from Aurum.
How corny of you to say...
This videos are like watching history tv. And your voice is superb....
I'm thinking this is CGP Grey's twin brother.
He's quite ignorant and bias. Do your own research.
@@TheEmadia how though

„Some good movies, some bad movies and some good bad movies“.
This is the most accurate description I ever heard for these movies. You’re man of culture.
"El dorado" (alone) makes perfect sense in Spanish. It means "the golden one". ¡Great video!
Wow, you're growing so fast!
Finally getting the attention you deserve.
This is the next CGP Grey. Except he actually uploads.
Found his Channel yesterday and love it!
Yeah, when I first watched him, I instantly subbed.
Love, love, love this! My hometown Sogamoso (Suamox - Place of the sun) is home to the Templo del Sol, a very important spiritual place for the Muiscas eventually destroyed by the Spaniards. Today, a small village (with a rebuild Temple) is preserved, alongside mummies, artefacts and a lot of stuff with archeological value . Muiscas were nearly eradicated and I've never met anyone who identifies as one, but we manage to preserve as much as possible.
If you ever travel to Bogotá, don't forget to visit Museo del Oro and Laguna de Guatavita, only 1 hour away from the city.
Everyone always comments about how this channel is underrated.
I fucking agree, I love this channel. A perfect blend of geography and history.

Once again great video! I'm very happy to see that your channel is finally getting the attention it deserves. It's only gonna get better from now on. In no time you'll be up there next to the big youtube creators of really interesting and educational content.
I'm binge watching your vids. Your videos are very interesting, I love them.
Keep on going man!!
This channel is growing faster than a bamboo forest. Congrats.
Why did I only found this channel recently, your videos are great! I subscribed!
I was just in the Museo del Oro yesterday here in Bogota. I'm SUPER grateful for your video because I've seen references to Lake Guatavita but none of the 3 gold museums I've visited in Colombia gave as complete a story as you've laid out. Thanks for putting work into this! It's excellent content.
Love LOVE your videos! You should do a video on the so called "phantom islands" that appeared on a lot of medieval maps, such as St. Brendan's Island. Antillia, or the mist-covered island of Brasil off the coast of Ireland. It would be an interesting subject as legends go.
Damn bro your channel is awesome. I just found it yesterday and I have almost watched all your videos. Your channel has also blown up since then.
I love binging your vids.
Keep it up man :)
These are the kinds of channels we need more of. High quality, well researched videos. Putting them out at a high frequency is even better (as long as you don't sacrifice quality, which you don't seem to do)
Such interesting topics! I’m so happy I found your channel! I love the amount of effort and research you do for each video, definitely got a new subscriber!
A video about the birth of a legend and the impetuos rise of a youtube channel? What is this, a crossover episode?
Congratulations mate, you're like a tiger, defying the laws of gravity xd
Keep going man, you'll get big soon
Love your channel!! Just found out about it yesterday. Now, watching non-stop!
Your channel is amazing, I am glad I found it some days ago. Keep up the good work
Nearly 10k subs in 24 hours! Congratulations!
Great video, it's tragic to see how voracious and greedy people can be. Also very ironic that the sudden accumulation of wealth tanked the Spanish economy.
I'm so glad your channel has been growing so much. Keep up the quality videos!
Very well done! Thank you..I was watching that documentation now in preparation for a trip to Colombia
When this guy blows up I can say I was here since 25k.
Very excited.
You are gaining 7k subs a day. That is A LOT.
This is basically a better, more amazing version of Social Studies class for me. Great work!
I'd love you to make more videos like this! explaining the realities of myths and legends! This was really interesting!!
UA-cam recommended your channel to me and I couldn't be happier :D Exactly the type of videos I like , and they are very high quality as well , a joy to watch!
Actually "el dorado" means something in Spanish. "Dorado" can be an adjective or a noun. In this case "dorado" is a noun and "El Dorado" means "The Golden One".
@Krok Krok No need to be so mad about it

Thank you for the thought and care you put into representing the indigenous people of Colombia and for pronouncing everything so well!

Could we have videos about mystery of amazon forest and and peru's nazca line..Thanks for your video. Found out your channel and good to watch it..
In about 2015 or 2016, a US team of divers, with the permission of the Colombian government suction dredged the middle of Lake Guatavita and found metric tons of gold artifacts. Some of which may be seen in museums in that country...beautiful! News of the discovery was fairly common in US newspapers at that time. The author needs to check that story.

How great channels are made!
Deeply satisfying to see the beginning of a massive growth in audience
The Maya were never a unified Empire... they were a collection of city states each ruled by a divinE King "Kuhul Ajaw", they shared a culture and religion however not a unified state.
What's more, these citi states were fighting one another more often than not, sometimes allied to defeat a common enemy. Another mayan enemy, that is.
