British Bombers / War Thunder

- The British made their first foray into the world of bombers in World War 1, but there wasn’t much progress in that field during the interwar period. Despite that, by the early 1930s there were two distinct bomber forces available to the British - bombers of the Fleet Air Arm, eventually under the direct control of the Admiralty… and the forces of the RAF Bomber Command. After the Nazis seized power, Germany’s ever increasing air capabilities prompted the British to respond in kind by supercharging their efforts to have a strong bombing arm.

Typhoon with 12 7.7mm is a beast
Honestly, after the Halifax you might as well stop until you get the Canberra imo, but 8 7.7's in turrets aren't as bad as they seem, just use the right belts and know how to aim and they have a high chance to set fires as well, assuming you're not stock .... then its just suffering, but that's a lot of stock planes in warthunder.

Fun fact the Stirling is the only bomber in Britain in ww2 that actually is a four-engine bomber design
The Halifax and the Lancaster are based on enlarged twin engine designs
Wow I actually had no idea, would have thought the Halifax was designed to be 4 engined. I have a soft spot for the Stirling because my relative flew the first ones in 7 squadron and did testing in 1940. It’s a pity it was not a very safe plane…
Stock lone bomber...casually getting shot out of the sky shortly after spawning..."they don't ever die"...yeah right...but a PvE assault mode for bombers would make 'em so much more grindable in wartinder.
As a Interceptor main I feel bad for wiping bombers but what else am I supposed to do? I also run rockets on the 109 just for wellington kills. In addition to the PVE I think they need to make aiming the gunners easier.
Not sure though because bombers already have excellent autogunners
@@leponpon6935 not rly lmao. Some ppl just have dogshit flight skills. You're much better off aiming yourself

Hopefully, many of them (e.g. Blenheim is still the War Thunder predecessor Birds of Steel model so over 10 years old by now) will get at least the polygon increase and updated textures that the B-17 & G4M got this update, though much nicer would be an actual full remodel update (even B-17 still has some geometry errors, despite the polygon increase).

Give me a Halifax with 20's and I could wreak havoc on enemy teams. Halifax bombload is absurdly good and I love the plane with a dying passion, too bad I do the dying part a lot.
Give me a Lancaster and it's basically the same. I'm actually really good at using the Lancaster and somehow not as good with any other bomber. But with the LB I'm actually able to do great damage on the enemies defence systems and if I'm outnumbered/outgunned I shall use the great Japanese technique known as kamikaze.

@@Cobrashadows They just wouldn't work and be impossible to balance
Having played British bombers since 2014 I can say with complete confidence that British piston engine bombers are the worst, most painful experience Warthunder has to offer. From their lack of any useful offensive armament to the incredible opposition they face, it must be one of the least enjoyable things to do. Understandably, these planes were night bombers so from a realistic perspective it’s somewhat understandable, but seriously, the only thing the British bombers are good for is losing money
In my opinion, they get a LOT better after the Lincoln. The Aussies did a great job with that one!
British bombers: Repair cost simulator
Sad thing is that bombers don’t have a place in Air RB… Except being SL and RP piñata for fighters

So when will we get this "incredible resiliance" of the Wellington? A single 12.7 will rip its wing with the current DM
Worst part is, they used to have the incredible resilience
Or chop it in half
aye before their 20mm cannon uppdate years ago the welli took abeating and kept going
I think that there was a Lancaster squadron which recognised the severe lack of decent offensive armaments, so pooled the squadrons money and bought 50.cals for their lancasters. I’ll have to check my sources but I think it was done
One British bomber I’d like to see added would be the avro Vulcan, but with what the GB tech tree looks like I think it is an unlikely addition but still a possible one. Still good British bombers already in the game so far, well done with the amazing work so far Gajin Entertainment. It is a truly amazing game, I’m struggling to find a game that is nearly half as good :)
It could easily be a ground rb nuke plane, I don't think it's a good idea rtn for air rb
As much as I love the vulcan I'm afraid it couldn't be implemented properly in war thunder. It would be next to impossible to balance as its only defence is speed and altitude. So it would either sit at a br where nothing could catch it and it would be op or be at br where its speed means nothing and it would get annihilated by super sonic jets

I would love to see the light bomber variant of the mosquito in the game, no armament or armour but so fast that it could outrun all german fighters apart from the fockewulf 190. Also I would like to see the Lancaster’s bombload increased to allow for their proper load or a tall boy/ grand slam bomb.
Just imagine if we used the mosquito or vampire. I'd say they'd be the best to use if used in large numbers.
The mosquito needs to be redone in the game, a mosquito bomber with the correct bomb load and a faster mosquito possibly a mk30 with those amazing merlin 76 engines needes to be added.
Indeed
We need the Mosquito interceptor
My grandfather served as an engineer on a SAR Shackleton in the 50s(?) With a large radar mounted under the chin. Apparently if the wing caught fire, he would have to have put on a harness and climbed onto the wing with a fire extinguisher

I have had surprising success with the Halifax in AB in sowing mayhem among armor columns and wiping out bases. Defensive fire is weak but slow down and jink like mad until the enemy fighters are really close then, the .303s can actually do some damage to fighters.. I've come to really love this plane.
The Lancaster is one of my favorite planes. I actually live less than an hour away from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum where one of the last two Lancasters capable of flying resides. On days with good weather, you can often see and hear it flying over!
Fantastic bomb load but I find it un-survivable against fighters at its rank. The Halifax can achieve much more.
Did you actually know they got a third one working in Australia the government just doesn't want to fly it I don't know why
The ultimate low level strategic bomber to me. I keep it under 250m and take off from the airfield and keep an eye on when the opposing bombers pop up. Fly towards them, or perpendicular and bam- surprise run on the bases. Works 4/10 times.
I've seen that one fly with the last other Lancaster at the Eastbourne airshow, beautiful warbirds and so majestic. I wish bombers were better represented in war thunder so that they actually have more use
Can you guys make it less hard to get to the next teir. Maybe we can not have a set amount of planes/tanks we need for the next teir, we can just go through the line.

When I was grinding through early to mid British aircraft years ago, I always thought of the bombers as paper airplanes with bb guns. I always got set on fire quickly, and couldn't do any meaningful damage with the defensive armament. I stopped playing with bombers at the first Stirling because I wasn't making it to the bomb targets anymore...ever. I was shot down before I could get there every time.
Whitley was actually one of three medium bombers in RAF service at war's start, but we still haven't seen it in the game.

Hi War Thunder, one of the most important WW2bombers was probably the Mosquito. It was fast, nimble, and had quite a decent bomb load. I don’t understand why it wasn’t in this video, I’d assume because you guys categorize it as a fighter. But it originally started it’s life as a bomber and then became a fighter

@Vlad Melis No
Not at all
@Vlad Melis None of the aircraft I presented there would be suited a br anywhere near the Do 335.
The Skua, Battle and Barracuda are single engined naval light dive/fighter bombers, with the Battle and Barracuda being mass produced aircraft, and the Skua achieved the first air victory of the Second World War when a group of them attacked and shot down a Do 18 (another plane that would be nice to see in game)
@Vlad Melis Really? I believe that a Ki-10 would find it quite challenging to shoot down a B-17, or even a Wellington or Do 17.
I don't quite think you get what I'm saying at all.
Something like the Skua or Wellesley would be at 1.3 or 1.7, like where the other similar performing light bombers and dive bombers are.
I never said anything about War Thunder being close to real life.
My CAP Commander's grandfather was a Landcaster pilot
I was surprised that the Fairey battle bomber isn't in the game Yet. But so far I love the Halifax heavy bomber it's Pretty good at climbing to the sweet spot ( Which is around 20,000ft) real easy.

Blenheim Mk II is shown in the video.
The original Blenheim was conceived as a heavy fighter and was repurposed because of its inadequate performance in that role.
