I absolutely love Ariel's playing; and who knew (I didn't b4 I watched ... thx PG!) also his approach to using gadgets (pedals, effects loops, et al) especially out-of-the-box amp sounds. And he is such a nice person too (met him at NAMM a few years back he is so generous with his time talking with fans).
I had the privilege to meet/jam/learn from Ariel at Cory Wong’s summer camp. I really can’t say enough great things about him as a musician and person. Extremely humble, talented, and very cool! He even let me play his Mule Guitar :)
I don't personally like all his stuff, BUT, he gets it. Creating his own sound that is almost instantly identifiable instead of trying to recreate others sounds that have been done before and done better.
For the Mayer heads who heard the Slow Dancing harmony at 0:47 and that ongoing turn into the second 6-4-1 run, I believe he’s playing a C diminished arpeggio (flat VI dim) to lead into the c#min (vi). It’s a beautiful note choice.
I've seen Ariel interviewed and/or just talking about his gear quite a few times now. He always comes over as very laid back and friendly no matter who he's dealing with. He has an interesting approach to making music which either works really well for me or bores me witless depending on the song. Definitely an artist worth watching live for those moments of magic where he stretches out and finds those notes you're not expecting.
Love Ariel and his playing. When players demo their set up and are immediately “in it”, is great. Marcus King’s rundown was similar in that he’d start playing and was ready to let the tone carry him off.
A lot of times Chris has to keep the conversation about gear moving, this time all he did was set him in motion and Ariel just ran with it. Great rundown.
I am the same way with volume knob or volume pedal. I am more used to the Volume knobs. To me, I seem to have more control. I imagine if I worked with the pedal more I could get used to it, but I am more comfortable with the way it is.
If you haven’t checked out the first Bros Landreth album Let It Lie, Ariel was the other guitarist with the group for years. It’s fantastic. I also can’t tell if you know this fact already and are being sarcastic so, if you are, ignore this comment 😅
Watching this because I’m the only human apparently who didn’t enjoy “possibly the worlds greatest guitar solo” and thought it was super boring - gotta see why everyone liked this guy cuz idg it
This interviewer is very knowledgeable attentive and reserved! Know what question to ask, know how to ask the question, and shut the hell up! Masterclass in interviews here..... Pay attention guys!
Kinda weird that his signature pedal isn’t on his board. Makes a person think it was just an economic endeavour, not an artistic one. Especially since he’s now shilling for the V2- why should we buy a more expensive version when he stopped using the first one?

Best thing about COVID was finding this guy during lockdown . Insanely talented
Same here
What's a 'lock down'? Must be a Blue state thing. 😉
@@guitarman11000 you do realise COVID was a global thing mate ?
@@guitarman11000 Sarcasm, because the truth is, the democrats (blue states) were actually locked down, and still have restrictions in place.
@@TJJJJJJJJJJJ you don’t get it?
Great to hear these easy going articulate descriptions of gear nerdiness. Thanks to Ar
Ariel seems like such a good dude. Love his songwriting and genuine approach to music.
Ariel Posen is just a next big thing in guitar world, what a superb dynamics and fretboard mastery he has and plays so melodic all the time.....
he's also a fantastic vocalist. the real deal talent
Love Ariel, seems like a down to earth guy who loves what he does. Hope to see him live someday!
Whtta great player and rundown. Our boy Chris does it again! 👍🎸👍🎸👍
Rock on!
That dude is such an amazing player…
Such an amazing musician.
Such great tone!
I could listen to Ariel playing anything with a string on it.. such talent and so tasty playing!
Awesome to have Ariel on guys! he is a class act and such a great player!!! Great rig rundown! Thank you
Our pleasure!

I love how he mentions Jeff beck, specially after today 😢
Wow what a trip seeing a Winnipeg cat on PG's Rig Rundown! Fuck yeah dude!
Was able to see him that night at Basement East and he killed it as per usual.
I had the privilege to meet/jam/learn from Ariel at Cory Wong’s summer camp. I really can’t say enough great things about him as a musician and person. Extremely humble, talented, and very cool! He even let me play his Mule Guitar :)
Love the warmth in Ariel’s approach to tone.
Love the effects, awesome playing and creativity. Thanks for posting.
Glad you liked it!

Awesome tones from Ariel
didn't know about this mule. what a great guitar.
Did not expect to hear Saginaw Michigan this morning lol. Never knew that’s where they were built.
I learned about this guy from watching Anderton’s! He’s incredible!!
So did I years ago
This was awesome...great musician, learned lots about building and balancing soundscapes, thx for sharing!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@premierguitar you guys rock with getting the tone secrets for all of us out here, thanks man...cheers.
Un cordial abrazo desde Valencia-España 🤘🎸🎵🙏🚀🪐🌟
Fantástica guitarra...muy original.
Cool stuff. Original playing. Like the clock.
WOW someone with a CLEAN pedalboard!!!! How freaking awesome!
Black fountain! Yeah!
19:50 "18 to 22% of the night" is so insanely specific, lol. Could've just said about 20%, but I guess it goes to show how much he cares for detail!

Mule!!! Matt is the man!

Ariel always has an amazing rig. Interesting that he’s not using his signature Hudson drive.
The Mavericks would make a good rig rundown sometime. It would be interesting to hear from Eddie Perez and Raul Malo.
I completely agree. Love the mavs
BRUTAL SOUND
String Gauge at 5:40
I believe E to B is down a 5th going from B to the E would be up a fourth. But I’m a drummer.
Love Ariel and his playing. When players demo their set up and are immediately “in it”, is great. Marcus King’s rundown was similar in that he’d start playing and was ready to let the tone carry him off.
@19:35 *RIP Jeff Beck*
RIP Jeff Beck
Love the Keeley Hydra!
.a.true.inspiration.
❤
That was beautifully put... "I want to hear how the guitar speaks with your hands on it."
Great stuff! :)
A lot of times Chris has to keep the conversation about gear moving, this time all he did was set him in motion and Ariel just ran with it. Great rundown.
Reminds me of Bill Frisell
Chris, dont worry about the comments! You do a hell of a job.
I am the same way with volume knob or volume pedal. I am more used to the Volume knobs. To me, I seem to have more control. I imagine if I worked with the pedal more I could get used to it, but I am more comfortable with the way it is.
Sounds like me, I don't know the technical terminology for the gear, just how I'm manipulating the equipment an why 😂 cool video
Love the tip of the hat to Bill Nash! S63 faithful
Super random but does anyone know what type of jacket Ariel is wearing? I love it 😂 and what an amazing video! Thanks for sharing!
💕💕💕
Rest in power Jeff Beck
This man needs to check out the new Joey landreth two rock
He plays with him so maybe has?
If you haven’t checked out the first Bros Landreth album Let It Lie, Ariel was the other guitarist with the group for years. It’s fantastic. I also can’t tell if you know this fact already and are being sarcastic so, if you are, ignore this comment 😅
Thought about this too. All I need is for him to say “best amp ever” and I’m copping it
Ariel works with Two-Rock
11:31 anyone know what brand Ariel’s coat/shirt is? I really like it and want one like this. Thanks!
Please ask you camera or audio tech disable compression when showing amps and audio effects!!!
That's the fastest half an hour ever! Great interview, great rig rundown!
StringJoy! That’s a huge part of the sound. They don’t sound like regular guitar string! They sound like you think a string should sound!
HBs on a 25.5" scale is the richest tone there is, to my ear anyway.
Ok...But when is Foals rig rundown going to be posted?
Still waiting for the Julian Lage Rig Rundown you teased a few months back!
It’s scheduled for 1/25. The wait will soon be over!

wait i'm confused, does color have anything to do with it?
Tone knob on teles are important people tend to not use the tone knob.
Mentions Jeff Beck...
What’s the tunning on the guitar? 🎸
B standard
what power supply does he use?
The Jeff Beck reference 😢
do another russian circles!
Ironic he mentioned Jeff Beck who we just lost
P90....yeppers.
I keep reacting to stuff he says and plays like John Bohlinger would. The interviewer's reaction at 26:03 haha zzz
@justin jeske that you d00d??
His bit about effects loops made no sense at all to me. Each to their own of course.
Wished the interviewer would take his hands out from his pockets. He’s so shut off
Anyone else think it sounds ass ?
Ya never know until you hear it in the mix.

Fitting that Ariel would mention Jeff Beck......RIP 💗🤘🏻💗🤘🏻💗
17-64? WTF I had no idea they made 17’s
What do you think a standard B string is...?
Did I misunderstood something or is he really running his fuzz at the end? Or did he start from the end?
He started from the end, watch again.
Ariel is a monster player. Every time I hear him play I'm inspired
RIP Jeff Beck
Maybe it was just the moody Monday but this is my favorite rundown Chris has done. Good work.
It's great hearing some melodic harmonic playing, rather than the normal blues, rock sounds.
Watching this shortly after hearing the bad news about Jeff Beck, r.I.p. 😢We need more guitar heroes, I feel we have a contender here❤
He's not just a very fine guitarist, he is a very inspired musician and that's makes the real difference...👍🏼👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼

19:35 RIP
Incredible talent. Saw his trio in a small room last spring. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
Fantastic sounds

Robert keeley needs to release more Posen hydras…I missed them twice!
The word he’s looking for talking about string guage vs guitar tuning is ……tension!
What pedal is the flutter and swell sounds, around 25./26 minutes in?
Ariel and The Tallest Man On Earth have such tasty tones
