  • How to take out your stock ecu computer to send it out for a flash tune. I go through everything you need to do and know to get that baby out of your motorcycle and on the way to the tuner of your choice. Flashing is very popular these days on the zx6r and is one of the best ways to unlock some of the power that emission standards limits us too on these newer models. We are sending ours out to Moore mafia for the pops and bangs tune. 2 wheel dyno works is also popular but I've heard some horror stories about bikes they have flashed and so 2wdw will not be touching our ecu. I go over the price that we payed and stay tuned to see how timely the shipping is and when they get it back to us. We should unlock some extra horsepower, smooth out the throttle response, and have a higher rpm rev range and limit. We don't have a dyno for hp so we will take a ride afterwards and see what we think of the power and torque. Our bike has a de-catted factory header and a no name link pipe with slip-on muffler. I have videos of how to de-cat your bike and the exact exhaust we have and how to install it. All links for parts are in the description of the videos. Comment with any questions, enjoy!

    This is perfect! I’m planning on sending my ECU to Moore Mafia once I get my zx6r broken in. I’m excited to see how the tune will turn out for yours!

    Love your content.
    I just got my full exhaust, velocity stacks, filter, etc... so need to install that stuff and then I am taking it for a dyno tune. I am sure it will be an absolute animal when it's done. Already a great bike! 600 class is so underrated... been loving these bikes since 2012. Thanks for the video brother!

    Moore mafia did all 3 of my bikes, including a ZX6R, I blocked off my Pair valve system to keep the Pops down and the flames from shooting out on decel bike draws enough attention !

    • @dennisgibb7958

      The PAIR system does not cause pops, you left free hp on the table by doing that. Your flash is wrong, take the bikes to a real dyno……..NOT DYNOJET.

    I have a white 24 ZX6R, just installed a M4 Slip on and it sounds AMAZING but I noticed it pops A LOT, let off throttle and it pops, get on throttle at low rpm and pops. Jesus christ it is LOUD too.
    Do I need to send mine in for a flash? I noticed I may have lost some torque on the low end? I can't necessarily tell cause I feel like I'm completely overthinking it.
    Would love your input.

    • @bikesandbangs
      @bikesandbangs  2 місяці тому

      Just a slip-on shouldn't affect your hp or torque, you won't gain any but you don't lose any. As far as a flash, you certainly don't need one, there is some things that go along with an ECU tune that I like. It eliminates the fuel cut-off on decel so on off throttle transitions are smoother, it increases your rpm redline, eliminates all emission restrictions, and gives you a little more power in higher rpms. If you want a flash I would de-cat your header or get headers so you have a full system. You will have more to gain, a tune with just a slip-on will only gain you 3hp maybe

    Quick question for u brother i been having the issue that i struggle with my bike overheating it has enough and i use good coolant it also has good oil i was wondering if u have that issue as well and if ur considering putting an extra radiator fan, Awesome build 👏 so far i been keeping up with u doing the same mods to my bike i have the same just in the KRT edition🤝

      I have never had this even get close to overheating, and I've gone on some hard rides on warm days. Something isn't right on yours, what temp are you seeing it get up to? Is your fan turning on?

      Nope those are completely normal temperatures. On a really hot summer day you might see it even get up to 223 or so, but it sounds like everything is perfect no need to be alarmed 👍 260 is when ur overheating

    what is the top speed of the 2024? ive read its only around 140mph. what is the reason for this?

    • @bikesandbangs
      @bikesandbangs  3 місяці тому +1

      The 2024 is geared shorter than previous years, on top of that, around 14,000 rpm's the CPU cuts fuel by like 60% or something crazy. I just got mine flashed and so all restrictions and full cut-offs were removed, on top of that they raised the redline from 14,500rpms to 15,800. So I will stretch it's new legs out and report back. Video should be up in a couple days 👍

    I am still waiting for my ZX6R, however I did purchase my ECU flash from 2 Wheel Dynoworks (2WDW). I have heard the issues you mentioned about 2WDW after I bought mine.
    I bought the 2WDW tune on their Black Friday special. The reason I went with them was the cheaper reflash for future mods. I disagree with you and think they have a better understanding of the ZX6R than Moore does.
    The reason I didn't go with Moore was because I found more negative reviews about Moore than 2WDW from the Kawasaki and Yamaha communities. The issues I have seen with Moore is the bike not seeing the ECU after being flashed. Another concern is throttle response and needing to send back to get corrected.
    I have a racing background and the pops and bangs is not a good thing. On a short run exhaust such as those on a sport bike, those pops and bangs could definitely shorten the lives of your exhaust valves. Yes, I do know the bike does it stock and an occasional pop and bang won't hurt it. The issue is it popping and banging like a machine gun is when you run the risk of damage.
    I also live in an area where they are clamping down on loud vehicles including motorcycles and I don't see this type of tune helping.
    At the end of the day, it is your bike and you are free to do as you please with it.

      And the increased amount of flames could potentially fry the packing in my muffler too. At the end of the day, I'm just trying to have as much fun as possible, at the expense of reliability, common sense, and money. If this grenades my bike, we will make a video about that too 👍😁

      I agree.. 2WDW is a better tune. they've got the dyno #s to prove it too.. i don't see Moore mafia creating their own velocity stacks and tuning for them. when you talk to nate from 2WDW, you can just tell he knows his shit and his tunes go beyond a/f, ign timing, etc.. he adjusts your fan switch, he sharpens your quick shifter and more.. couldn't be happier with my 2WDW tune.. i honestly see Chris as a one trick pony - he tunes every bike the same, whilst Nate tries every configuration possible to get the most out of each individual motorcycle.
      $100 extra for pops and bangs? dude, the point of block off plates is to offset this - it's not good for the bike. that, in itself, tells you what Chris is about

    • @bikesandbangs
      @bikesandbangs  3 місяці тому

      But some of us want our bikes to be flame spitting obnoxious machines. Isn't the point of getting a sport bike to be a little on the wild side? Lol everyone has their own opinion on this stuff, and I have not ridden a bike yet that was tuned by Moore mafia or 2wdw, so I'm not speaking from personal experience. Just giving the reasons I went with moore. Like I said, I will report with the results in a week

  • @mshacochis

    Coming from cars these mail in tunes scare me. If there not dyno tuning it in your environment it could run really rich or lean. Mail in tunes need to go back and forth with data from both rider and tuner so they no where to make changes. Id rather find a local tuner/dyno

    • @bikesandbangs
      @bikesandbangs  3 місяці тому

      I mean yes, it's not a perfect dyno tune, and there will be differences from bike to bike on the exact same year and model. It gets you in the ballpark of where you need to be. For some it's perfect, for others not quite. I just figured we would go ahead and do it and report back with the results so other people know if this is something they want to consider or not

  • @dennisgibb7958
    @dennisgibb7958 3 місяці тому

    Yeah, let’s flash tune a generic “map”
    Moore Mafia and all of the send in shops are not tuners. A pops and bang maps…….this means they have zero real experience with proper tuning. What is proper…….
    1) take bike to a non dynojet dyno.
    2) pay the fee to have a map written for YOUR specific application
    3) go out a ride
    Only software to be used when “unlocking” an ecu is THE FACTORY system. Everything else is hacker code. The factory system can actually rewrite the whole ecu back to stock if something goes sideways…..in most cases…..not so with Gary garage systems.
