I had a terrible biter and one day it just stopped. I corrected her, when it came to furniture and gave her other stuff to bite on. When she bit me too hard, I made a high sound like other puppies would do and she let go immediately. Now I have a huge grown up dog who can control her bite force easily. Sometimes I get a finger in, when I hand feed her...not a problem at all. She play bites me all the time and it is very gentle.
Thank you! Exactly how I did it. I can't stand all those "how to prevent your puppy from biting" videos. They need to learn bite inhibition. And they don't learn it from toys or treats or crating them etc. etc. My dogs are also all so gentle now. They learned how much bite force can hurt and won't do it.
That's exactly how I stop biting if I meet a puppy in public. The yelping noise is easy for me partially because I'm a woman and it doesn't strain my voice too much. But I watched videos endlessly and notice how puppies play with one another. The EEK! noise works nearly INSTANTLY! I feel those sharp milk teeth I make a squealing noise and immediately the puppy looks at me and starts to be much gentler with me. I get a cute head tilt and it seems to click and it looks like a puppy thinks "oh did I bite u too hard? I'm sorry" and they quit nipping but they're still excited with me. At most it takes me 2 squeaks to stop nipping instantly. So many people ask me does it work and I basically explain that that's how pups communicate with their litter mates. They squeak to say "that's too hard" and it's worked almost 100% of the time.
@@lingozacademy.c mine reakky was a crocodile, but always friendly. I yelped a lot, what only helpef every now and then. I gave her a natural brush to chew on, I think, her teeth we're iching a lot. Just be gentle, it's Not about overpowering the dog or wressle the puppy down. Good thing was a house leash. When she got way too excited, I put her on pause for a few minutes. As I said, one day she just stopped biting and now is very gentle with her mouth. What do you do when your puppy wants to play and would rather bite your hands and feet rather than their toys? We try redirecting and yelping or yelling ouch makes him bite harder. I’ve been saying “no” and redirecting with his toy and saying “toy, yes”. It seems to kind of been working depending on the situation. But when he’s super playful, it becomes aggressive.
And don't let him become "super" playful. Why are you hyping the puppy up when they're biting? Whe. Oups are over threshold, over stimulated, they're not listening to you and they are very reactive.
I keep giving my puppy a redirected thing to chew and bite .. but he still gets excited looks me in my face and lunges out to nip my face. He is 8 weeks
Yeah mine too :/ my golden retriever puppy (9weeks) bit me and drew blood, I’ve tried redirecting, grabbing him by his scruff, and poking his shoulders and going cchh but he still won’t stop. If you find a way pls help me out 🥲🙏🏽
The problem I am having is with my kids not being able to play with our puppy much at all. Not really independently anyway. I pretty much have to keep her with me on the leash if she is out and the kids are home. Otherwise she plays too rough with them and bites them or their clothes. She does well with me though.
every time we touch or look at our puppy it bites us and our kid. We've tried everything and she just shreds our daughter. No one talks about this, but it's super common.
Yep. I've never found a good video from this channel. Beckman's dog training or Sheild K9 dog training take actual real problem dogs and show great ways. Not some trained dog playing or some little 8 week old puppy. Good luck!
What if they bite you not because they are bored but because they are not having they way. Like if you are forced to removed inappropriate objects from their mouth, and do not listen any commands you trained them on (i.e. drop it, leave it, sit). Can’t grab the lead because they are bitting down your hand. Can’t keep walking because they are ripping off your clothes and bitting down your ankles. Just venting here but also need help 😬
Do we have the same dog?? But jokes aside that’s exactly how my puppy is. He can be the sweetest thing on earth. He is so smart and he learns very fast. As soon as he doesn’t get what he wants he’s immediately jumping and biting us where ever he can get us. It’s not just him being bored or just a puppy thing. We have things he can chew on. We even got a lick mat so he can spend time with that. He is such a good boy but as soon as you stop him from chewing on something or prevent him from eating something he shouldn’t be he get so angry and just find anything or anyone to take it out on and doesn’t stop.

What should you do when your pup just gets excited for food or the toy in your hand and they bite, mostly accidentally? I want to teach her to take things from me nicely, and she doesn't bite me if I'm not holding something she wants (plenty of toys and such), but I can't figure out this one. Is it good to correct her, or should it be something where she shouldn't be able to accidentally bite and its on me more than her?
Some have said they’ll hold a treat hidden in their hand, telling the pupoy “gentle”, and only open if the puppy licks for it. Obviously it’ll be using teeth to start with, but maybe that works? The way we dealt with unwanted biting was to walk out of the room and return after 30-60 seconds. That and time, and naps, was all that worked for us. He has good bite inhibition now at near 8 months. So don’t forget they have to learn that too.
