My favorite is the LTD; cleaner more tasteful exterior. Fond memories… A friend received a new ‘68 LTD 2 Dr. for high school graduation. 390 4 bbl. Very quiet , soft riding and a great high speed cruiser…. Often at 100+ mph on Nevada roads before speed limits. Sort of floated so we bought and installed “super” duty shocks… which changed the car… hugged the highway at high speeds.

All very beautiful cars! Thank you so much for preserving them and sharing them with us. I think the LTD has the nicest lines and best interior of the three, but the older Merc definitely has the prettiest rear end -- so pretty that Cadillac felt compelled to rip them off in 1971 (they looked awesome on those models too).

My dad had a '72 LTD two door in brown with the vinyl top and a brown fabric interior. That was a very nice car! I was six years old when he bought it, and when I helped him wash it, I was amazed at the paint: You could see silver, gold, and red sparkles. And it had yellow pinstripes on each side, and you could tell this had been painted on by hand! I don't know how they did it so perfectly.
402 Cleveland V8 with a two barrel carburetor, it used to pull our 6000 pound 26 foot Argosy trailer through the mountains of Tennessee en route to Flori-Duh at 70 mph so well my dad said he forgot it was back there!
Problem: By 1975 it was showing rust, and by 1980 when he sold it, it was a rust bucket~

That's awesome! I was 8 when my Grandma bought a 72 LTD County Square. Yellow with the brown panels. In 1981 she sold it to me as my 1st car for $300.00 & then she insisted she put 4 new Michelin tires LOL. But I loved that car. And it had alot of rust too, especially on the driver side rear quarter panel.

Tough choice Adam between the LTD and the Park Lane. But if I had to choose one, well, it'd have to be the LTD. Uncle of mine had one in SW form with the 390, and put well over 300k miles on it into the mid 80's as a daily driver. 390 was fantastic! As for the Motorcraft 4300, you're spot on. I had a '76 XR7 that I swapped the original 351W to a rebuilt 69 351W (4v)with the 4300. Didn't take long for me to toss that carb in favor of a Holley 4v. All my problems went away and that car was a gem!

It is so good to see someone such as yourself preserving the good cars we once all had. The vehicles of today are over complicated & not always very comfortable. The only fault I have with these Fords & it is a common problem is that there is no gauges! I like to know exactly what an engine is operating at under various conditions. This problem with only idiot lights goes back to my 1st Ford car I had in 1962. That one car cost a great deal of shipping freight cost from Hawaii to the mainland! I technically drive old antique vehicles myself such as the 1970 C10 p/u we use for hauling hay for our Thoroughbred farm that my mother & I started in 1998. Also have 1980`s S10`s too. Have had to make parts to keep them running as it is becoming difficult to find good parts such as thermostats that work at proper temps.

Adam, another great video. May I respectfully suggest: when comparing cars with different wheelbases, put them side-by-side so we can see the length difference. Increased wheelbases in sedans are all about rear seat legroom. Many men like to compare wheelbases - it has a significant effect on ride comfort and roominess. Thanks! On these cars, the 4 inch difference should be visible in the length of the rear doors. If you compare the distance between the edge of the rear door and the rear wheelwell, it is obviously longer on the Mercury, so perhaps the doors are the same length? These would be interesting points for you to add to your presentations.

Halcyon days for sure. If only Ford had this quality now. Even Toyota has been having quality control issues. The LTD is quite familiar and I've ridden in a few in my day. They were lovely cars. I remember a trip with family from NJ to upstate NY towing a large Shasta camper. There were 4 of us kids in the back seat of their all black LTD and no a/c of course. They had to peel us off the seats it was so hot.

I like the 68 Park Lane the best. Love these three cars. In black they are menacing

    All are very exceptional automobiles!
But I’m biased towards the beautiful 68 LTD.
My parents had a 68 galaxie 2 dr hardtop in highland green - no vinyl top.
I believe it too had the bow line as well incorporated into the hardtop roof line.
    Very fond memories!
If you’re ever inclined to sell the 68 Ford LTD or Mercury or know of a well maintained 68 2dr hardtop please feel free to reach out to me.
    Keep up the great work!
