They are beautiful dogs, its likely that their limited appeal is due to fact that they are not an overly social type of dog. Often they are a 1-person type dog.
When Steve Kornacki showed the most aloof dogs, the Basenji showed up in the most aloof category! At least the basenji got 4th in hound group this year!
@@janinemadrid8224 Yes, I find them quite charming. I noticed that the Basenji seemed a bit unsure of all the people clapping. I had a client who raised Pharaoh hounds & they are quite aloof as well, are a blend btw a cat and a human.

Well, I'm glad they showed the entire hound group online because they didn't bother to show them all on TV. Watched it on tv waiting for the beagles and they didn't bother to show them or half the dogs in this group and the other groups. Won't even bother to watch it on tv next Thanksgiving.
@5610winst My comment was in reference to what they showed on TV. They showed dogs in a group as they entered the arena, but only 5 or 6 going in front of the judge, they picked the group winner and went on to the next group. Online, they showed every dog going before the judge. And FYI, there were no Norwegian Elkhounds entered in the competition. They can't show them if no one entered one.
Amazing how all the dogs are in good condition, great job of people who love and believe in loyalty of this creatures 😊 they teach us more without words 😢❤ love!
My favorite was the Basset Hound and I would have picked the Basset Hound if I were the judge. A few other favorites were the Ibizan Hound, Borzoi, Basenji, Bloodhound and all the Dachshunds. I learned about breeds I never heard of. Until watching the show, I had no idea the Scottish Deerhound existed. Looks almost exactly like the Irish Wolfhound. And I don't think I ever met an Irish Wolfhound.
@michaelalbino1006 I agree, I love Bassets, they are adorable and their demeanor is endearing, to me the hound group should be divided in two, sight hounds and scent hounds, because if you noticed the judge only choose sight hounds, their beauties are very different indeed.
While I've loved all of my beagles, the two pictured here were not exceptional. They were really mid-level Beagles at best, nothing wrong with that but not exceptional for an exceptional breed.
The ramp is relatively new and used for the dogs who are smaller in size( between dachshund on the table and greyhound on the floor)so that judges don’t have to kneel to examine them. 🤣as you can see most of these judges are older. ✌🏼❤️🤗
Raising a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy is just like raising a very high energy human toddler. Better for experienced dog owners that know how to train dogs.
I have had many packs of ridgebacks, they are energetic, curious, stubborn and incredibly athletic. As for their training... repetition, repetition, repetition... no yelling or abuse... have to be stern and patient... also, as an owner, if you are not athletic, and I mean more than just running, then find another breed. The ridgebacks love to play, wrestle, and run ,run, run. They need to be socialized at a dog park with other big dogs so they learn how to play. I have always had at least 2 , as they love companionship. Also make great ,fearless guard dogs.
some were overweight, flat footed, poor definition in muscle in their hind legs. Their handlers were better too look back on each breed in 2005. If you're going to show a dog, make sure what you're showing is better than a standard akc acceptable.
The hunting group should be divided an 2 groups the sight hounds and the scent hounds, because if you noticed she called majority of them sight hounds. Their beauties are very different, sight hounds are very elegant so forth and so on as scent hounds their demeanor are very different how can a basset hound or a blood hound can compite with an afghan or borzoi, their beauties are very different I love this group and I own a basset and an afghan they’re both beautiful in very different ways , to me this is very unfair the Afghan Hound it is even call the “King of dogs “ because of their beauty, so no I don’t agree with this group it should be divided, besides how can a tiny dachshund can compite with those beautiful little horses, it is all wrong, even though I love my afghan and people stop me left and right to admire it’s beauty, I feel this is not done correctly.
You'd be suprised how many dogs are overweight... there is a reason majority of dogs in old age get problems with their joints... i believe 80% of dogs in USA and Canada are either overweight or morbidly obese
