Sometimes!! The next video 'Sunflowers" that I will upload on Friday will have a background! And I paint a background for this one: ua-cam.com/video/EEknPAmLVGs/v-deo.html
My brain just exploded. I have not ever tried to paint a translucent vase but always wondered how. You always make watercolor look so effortless and never overworked. "Now here is the fun part..... a little bit of swish, swish, swish.... and maybe a little swish... and a swish right here." I was nervous even watching it and then as you did that first swish across the blue and green stems I gasped for air, outloud, mind blown and running to my desk. 😂😂😂😂 You are amazing and thank you!!! I am struggling with hard lines now that I have loosened up my painting style and then I overwork it attempting to fix. Making me crazy. I want the colors to blend and bleed and mix, which they don't do when I try to stay controlled, but then I loosened up and hard lines from too much water.
Oh Carissa Thank you for your delightful comment! You should be a writer as well as a painter :) I can tell how difficult it is to loosen up for artists who are used to painting more tightly. Its hard! But just keep pursuing it, and evenutally those hardlines will become softer and then disappear altogether. You can do it!
I've watched & love your videos. I like your style, so relaxed and casual... I'm so not creative. Before I dive into watercolour and buying the necessities, I thought maybe I should start with watercolour pencils and a sketchbook first. Have you had experience with watercolour pencils Crystal? I will use your videos to give me more inspiration. Hope this is ok.
Thank you so much! I have tried watercolour pencils before but still love to just use watercolours as is. They are both quite different! If you are not wanting to invest in expensive supplies, you can use kids watercolour sets to try! You can still create some beautiful paintings with them. Enjoy!
You so remind me of my 6 year old granddaughter who tells me to just swish the paint gran gran and then you need more colour gran gran. I'm learning both from her and you. Love your work and so does Isla (my granddaughter )
Thanks for painting Dahlias! My daughter decided as an adult (26) to change her name to Dahlia and I’ve been wanting to learn to paint these flowers for her.
"dippy dippy, swishy swishy" is my new favourite painting technique!!
Yes! Its a very sophisticated technique! Hahaha.
