Dr Vikram Sampath ji completely owned this debate. I feel historians like Mukherjee are opposing these ideas just because they've written books on history only through the lens of one narrative and admitting that will lead to complete disregard of their business, but what they don't realize is that their history books will be read less and less as people of the country realize the truth.
We should put out the clemency petitions then discuss. I have read them, so poor in taste. Bhagat Singh who is just 23 yrs old, refused to file any such petition, whereas deceitful Sarvarkar by lying and prostrating to English law. Shameful!

Very nicely hostly debate Saurabh on such a contested topic. I am from Mumbai so I have heard about Vir Savarkar since my school days and I never knew that he was so misunderstood. Vikram Sampath did such a fine job to explain Vir Savarkar and highlight very important point that all different ideas which worked during freedom movement and Congress/MK Gandhi was not the only freedom movement. If this was a trial then my vote is for Vikram Sampat's argument.

Being so young Dr, Vikram can be way more sarcastic than the professor yet he choose to be on point, no laughing chuckling about anyone just facts and views of many person, and so polite that itself nailed the debate on the other hand the professor knowledge and points are so weaker that it looks like did he even the right person to debate on this with Dr. Sampath. I read you Vikram and your writings with so many quoted facts gives a very large knowledge base if someone goes by each quoted facts.

He was relegated to the dustbin like Subhash, Bhagat Singh, all revolutionaries, Naval mutineers of 1946, Azad Hind Fauz. You may have your own political ideology but my respect for Savarkar is for his contribution and impact on other revolutionaries of the time. There is nothing religious about the freedom struggle. That started when we accepted a separate Muslims homeland in 1947.

Very nicely hostly debate Saurabh on such a contested topic. I am from Mumbai so I have heard about Vir Savarkar since my school days and I never knew that he was so misunderstood. Vikram Sampath did such a fine job to explain Vir Savarkar and highlight very important point that all different ideas which worked during freedom movement and Congress/MK Gandhi was not the only freedom movement. If this was a trial then my vote is for Vikram Sampat's argument.

Prof. Aditya Mukherjee came across as an emotional man with a bias. He should have defended or accepted the "communist leader's" petition letter,, but he chose to ignore it, and give an emotional rhetoric. THIS itself shows that he is selective in his truth . On the other hand, Vikram came across as calm, curious and respectful. Vikram WINS Hands-down.

Being so young Dr, Vikram can be way more sarcastic than the professor yet he choose to be on point, no laughing chuckling about anyone just facts and views of many person, and so polite that itself nailed the debate on the other hand the professor knowledge and points are so weaker that it looks like did he even the right person to debate on this with Dr. Sampath. I read you Vikram and your writings with so many quoted facts gives a very large knowledge base if someone goes by each quoted facts.
This is by far the best episode of a political talk show I have heard in a very very long time. Thank you Lallantop.

That's the mother of all mercy petitions and shows the camilion undertones of the party which was a British stooge. @@nealjeffers12 Savarkar made more sacrifices personally than the entire top leadership of Congress. He was relegated to the dustbin like Subhash, Bhagat Singh, all revolutionaries, Naval mutineers of 1946, Azad Hind Fauz. You may have your own political ideology but my respect for Savarkar is for his contribution and impact on other revolutionaries of the time. There is nothing religious about the freedom struggle. That started when we accepted a separate Muslims homeland in 1947.
