@@lethalluke9403 Dude I loved Showdown so much. Some of the most fun I have ever had in Rainbow, getting the spawn kills with a grenade? So much dumb fun.
@@lethalluke9403 It's a great mode, but would get super tiring super quickly, needs other maps to go along with it, bring a rotation of arcade modes, even if it's a MoTD type setting like Smite has (every friday/saturday) I think it'd breathe some fresh life into an everstale game.
Literally no reason not to do what Overwatch did and just have a rotating arcade playlist. With some unique game modes for holidays or special events thrown in.
Siege player base: Please give us more options for custom games, a firing range, unlimited map exploration mode, updated situations that actually reflect the game, and please deliver the things you’ve already promised in working form Ubisoft: Favela Casual Rework
@@sponsorskipman1971 I honestly think the Gonne-6 is a neat idea, but the fact that it has ONE shot, requires line of sight, and can also be sniped by Jägers 'splodey snipers, makes it really useless, compared to the frags that it most often replaced.... Had it been given multiple shots, that would make it more useful, as it could have 3 or 4, making it capable of destroying more gadgets than a frag, and with more accuracy, but then, having just two of them could take out the other teams defenses almost entirely... So... I like the idea behind it, but I think it would be hard to balance.. Also, the Favela rework is, in my opinion, pretty neat, but almost never play ranked, sooo..
@@dangreen8905 Yeah its the furry lad Let me give you context There was this video about an otter eating a watermelon, when the otter gives it a bite he gags and is clearly disgusted by it, but then proceeds to continue eating anyways And as a meme people started comparing this otter to siege players for constantly saying the game sucks yet playing it constantly
@@veralena8156 that sounds like every league of legends or csgo player i know. Greg we live in a world where Gamestop went from being the modern Blockbuster to one of the hottest stocks on the NYSE purely because people memed that into existence, and literally nobody with the relevant education can figure out what's going on. Talk about charts as much as you want dude.
Well that’s just a lie. The investors with an actual relevant education ended up making bank after the initial shock and a massive chunk of the short sighted people who wanted to be part of the meme lost money.
this is the age of random variables, literally random variables everywhere to the point where we have to experience something to know what the fuck is happening, no putting your legs first- you're going head first no protection, truly amazingly crazy times
I live in Europe... it is mostly weird noises for me, or people sounding like the announcements in a bus, just pure static. If I get lucky there are some nice people
I found that the best people are on Silver. Coppers can be chill, or they can be super toxic. Golds and plats sweat too hard and think they are playing at the Invitational, and Diamonds only play the meta. In silver you find people who are mostly only playing for fun, and off-meta operators and starts are commonly used because they are fun.
I’ve said this for ages siege should constantly have these mode available so casual players get variety and competitive players get warm ups this would have a great impact on sales because these cool cosmetics are available for everyone
@@hv4329 Favela is fun when people aren't sweating, which is practically never. It's all Siege is anymore. As someone who's played since Day 1, I can say that definitively. Casual has never been 'casual'. Maybe running a 5-stack who want to meme will work, but 90% of the time when you do, you'll find hackers, sweats and racist 13-year-olds who don't understand what 'casual' means. Kinda sad, because Siege was really good its first two years. Some hiccups, sure, but way better than now.
We should get a non Halloween/Christmas themed deathmatch mode that isn't longer ranged than you will ever be playing at and has more than 3 guns. Also make it be actually deathmatch and not kill confirmed.
Siege has a weird disconnect with it's Casual and Competitive scenes. The two scenes are vastly different, but they are both being pandered too in not only the wrong places, but in the exact same place. You could have a memelord chunky player and a tryhard grinding ranked star in the same exact match, and the game has to be fun for both. The way that Siege is set up though, is that it makes it fun for neither. So who do you cater towards? Well you have a lot of depth, so you could go the hardcore/comp route. The game has a lot of depth just by looking at it, and getting into the game is even harder and more complex, so it could be a more difficult, but higher skill ceiling game that plays more like chess than checkers. But if you're just trying to get into the game, it's a LOT you have to learn! Unless you were sold on the concept, you will not play the game. So it becomes a more niche game Or you could cater towards the casuals. The game has a LOT of stuff you can do, why not make it goofier or more enjoyable on an individual level? Make fun gimmicks in the maps, have wacky events, fun skins, and a lesser focus on the "Get good" mentality. Now a lot of casual players are given a LOT to work with, can have fun with it, and don't need to study spawnpeeks on Chalet for 3 hours just so they can play the game for more than 15 minutes. But now things start to get more unbalanced, and the new content doesn't have a lot of staying power or conjunction with the past so the people that REALLY get in depth have nothing to work with. Right now Siege is trying to do both, and with a game as complex and nuanced as Siege, with as many working parts as it has, it just can't. You can't have the goofy AND the serious gameplay mechanics without severely crippling one, the other, or both of those aspects. We have goofy modes, that are there for 3 days. We have competitive maps, that all feel the same. We have insane depth that's overwhelming to someone that just wants to chill for an hour. None of it works with every community, and it's getting to the point where both sides are angry. I think, for the health of Siege, it should stick to the competitive aspect HARD. Fuck the casuals, stick with the Comp scene. I sadly will never be interested in that, but I think it's what Siege should do.
They could have made the game hardcore competitive and still focused on more "casual" play by embracing the "tactical realism" playlist that's in the game instead of completely ignoring it since the beginning. I get that they didn't want to split the playerbase but at some point, the community was large enough to cater to both groups.
It’s not that there’s a disconnect between casual and competitive players (every game has that) but the lack of tools to help bridge the gap which infuriates me.
Ubisoft went from releasing 1 new map and 2 new operators each season to *hey, look at our battlepass* and 1 lazy rework that eventually get's removed out of ranked and 1 *meh* operator. Do i need to say more? Oh wait, and don't forget about the toxic as hell community...
I mean to be fair on Ubisoft's part competitive games always bring toxic communities. That's just human behavior and while you can try to smother it out (I.e. The player behavior system they've been working on since Year 5) it's gonna be present no matter what. It's with all communities with competitive sides: Valorant, CS:GO, even Fortnite. It sucks, I know, but them's the breaks. And what do you mean by "meh" operators? Zero and Aruni are both really solid operators and have alot of potential with their gadgets. Haven't played much with Flores to give him an overall opinion but I think he has potential. I do agree with the rework side, though. I don't get why they'd rework a map like House and not add it to Competetive, unless if it was to fix how bad of a map it was (like Favela), but even then why not make it competitive viable if you're gonna go through the effort to rework it?
Damn, I’ve been playing this game on and off for months and you perfectly described why it’s hard to stay with it longer like I did before. I also really agree with the competitive analysis issue with Siege. I came to UA-cam thinking that there would be tons of great information on competitive level site setups and strategies, and instead 90% of all siege videos are just clickbait thumbnails with mediocre Twitch clips. It’s one of the things that makes your channel one of the few good ones for Siege content.
That's so true. I also wanted to add that "newcomers" match is useless. Unless someone in your team are partied with plats, 9/10 players dont know what are they doing and nobody want to teach them, also it's full of smurf too. Tutorial scenarios didn't help much either, I think that the 10 scenarios can be shorted up to 2 scenarios as defender or attacker, with core maps are used. Wait, we actually have it already, its called T-hunt....
What you said at the end is exactly it. Siege is kind of in a limbo where currently it doesn't really know what it is, apart from the casual community, but the casual community is volatile and will jump ship if they find another game they like. Siege needs to figure out what it wants to be and head that way.
I wonder how they managed to do such a bad battle pass, like they could just have copied the fortnite model and if I ever find the person that thought was a good ideia to put blue packs on the pass I would be really mad at him
@@murilosotti3401 well fortnite doesn't have packs and if they did they'd do the same thing. Rocket league has the same battle pass pack thing as siege
I recommend playing apex if you into battle royales then, casual matches can be done so fast and unranked/ranked can be to long and drawn out, and in apex once you die you back out and play another game, when you die in siege you might have to wait upwards of 3 minutes to be able to play again
@@souljacrankthat yeah, I once had a game where there was only 2 squads left in round 2, the game can sometimes go so fast because of how aggressive most players in apex are.
@@yme3267 except that Casual has become the diet version of Ranked because the sweaty gameplay on Ranked gets carried over to Casual. How can the game attract newcomers when a whole lot of players smurf, the newcomer mechanic is just also a diet version of Ranked, and the community itself isn't welcoming in general? This game's casual isn't casual at all.
5:08 - i have never heard truer words in my entire life, it is so difficult to play past plat 2 without finding a game where the majority of players are m&k. it's unplayable, unfair, and what do these people get? rewarded for hitting champion by essentially cheating
I am a competitive boomer, I mainly play CS:GO and play Siege only when I am tired of CS. Main issue of competitive R6 is that the ranked and pro play are completely different games, pro CS is appealing because it is still the same game, only with better aim and better teamplay, if you see a cool molotov lineup or a boost you can try to reproduce it in your MM/Faceit games. Cannot say the same for R6 when people don't know how to setup a site.
The problem seige is having is that it's been going way way to sweaty, I have owned the game since about a few months from launch, and while that time was amazing because pretty much no one knew what they were doing, there was other things that helped it compared to today, like when you played the game, you didn't join a match, you joined a team, then you stayed on that team until you actively decided to leave, it made great team cohesion, and solo play felt rewarding because your team knew that your time together probably wasn't over once it hit 2-2, on a good day you could spend hours with most of a team and really figure out how those people played the game, and you could go off that, you felt it when someone you've been with for a few games called the shield rush, then you have the other changes that removed freedom, like the recruit rework, where they ruined him, they took away his best equipment so your lmg can have a crappy sight, then you have extra abylitys like zophia, which since the second I seen it, I didn't like it, because it wasn't fair to other operators, not because she got extra abylitys, but because other operators don't have them, they should have made seige's characters all deep enough for a casual player to feel good for understanding there operators, while more competitive players would be on more or less equal terms when it comes those special interactions, like echo not getting called from dokkabie, it was a great reason for dokkabie to not just blindly trust phone noise, however they removed it, instead of throwing features out the bus that worked well they needed to explain those interactions, commission UA-cam videos to explain an operators gadget, guns and special features, how to use them effectively, and then a video on how to counter or tell when you hear them, like fuze's cluster charge being planted, and deploying, as well as that you can shoot it to destroy it early, which is a very important peice of information I don't think a lot of people know based on how often I see people not even take a pot shot at the them, throw in a video about secondary equipment, and a section about how that equipment (even on operators without that equipment) and how they interact with it, glaz obviously works well with smoke grenades, however a newer player would likely question how Fuze could capitalize with it, however when they see a Fuze get vision impared defenders inside the room he is taking out they will see how other similar equipment could do the same, giving casual players the tools they need will fix the problems that have been felt for a large part of the community, where they balance around the top competitive rather then encourage people to play for a fun experience where you try bold strategies and inventive solutions to a defense that was built around a conventional attack, people need to understand that a blitzing the enemy is a very coumterable strat, however it's effectiveness lies in that fact, if it wasn't easily countered, them you'd expect it most rounds
Casual is a sweatfest once you are Gold and above. I'm a rank 300 have been Plat II 3 times a couple years back around when White Noise came out.. Stopped playing for a VERY long time and every time I get into a cas match nowadays I might as well be playing ranked cause it's so stupidly sweaty. The only way to get into actual casual matches is to play with 2-3 noobs and even then there's smurfs every other match. And of course having barely played for almost 3 years, whenever I get on I play as well as a Silver sometimes but matchmaking ALWAYS puts me up against Diamonds & Plats. Back when I was 16-17 time wasn't an issue and I could play for days on end and learn the game again. Nowadays 3 years into college its difficult even in the weekends to find a couple hours between work and HW/classes to play some matches. And I'm not going to put up with the toxic "Get good" mentality of the game nowadays. I used to love shields as they brought a challenge for the enemy team, and made them improvise and work together to take it down. Nowadays shields have been broken for almost 2 years (every shield except Monty when extended can get HS from straight ahead) and Ubisoft shows ZERO interest in fixing this, yet continues to nerf them and any other operator that challenges the "spam crouch around corners and insta HS people" meta. Bringing a shield with you is literal suicide, unless you're Monty and have a good team behind you and NEVER de-extend the shield, cause the second you do you're dead. Game is dying, its a shame cause it could've been one of the best 5v5 team games out there. But Ubi started catering to pro-league even though the vast majority of players used to only do casual, not even ranked. I look at my friends list and out of almost 400 people I befriended playing Siege back then, there are 2 that still play it regularly. Two.
I just don’t like Valorant because it feels like I’m playing CS, siege, and OW at the same time. The movement just feels clunky and the rng spraying turn me off. Someone who spend a decent amount of time mastering the spray control in CS and even Rust a little bit. I feel a skill that shouldn’t be thrown away. I’m also not a huge fan of the run and gun mechanics and how consistent it can be.
The dichotomy of siege The Thermite and Hibana mains are annoyed at the Ash and Amaru mains for dying The Ash and Amaru mains are annoyed at the Thermite and Hibana mains for dying And everyone makes fun of the Blackbeard main.
@@xc_lowkkx1561 does it matter the how? Every BR is the same exact garbage. They’ll just put the R6 characters in a large map with randomized weapon/equipment spawns.
I was planning on getting back on Siege when Flores would come. The very day he was released, I saw that they removed the dailies and the season pass and made the game pass more expensive. Dude, those dailies helped me keep playing siege every other day, I now only play siege once per week, if the squad can drag me to play it. This greedy decision completely soured any enjoyment I had on the game, because now I know that I gotta grind even more to get the expensive operators that I'm missing. I'll come back to siege when the game becomes more customer friendly.
Great video Greg. Yeah, since the writing for the game got a bit anime during Void Edge, I've had a feeling Siege has an identity crisis issue, only to realize as 2020 and 2021 rolled on I'm not far off from that hypothesis. As you said in your video, Ubisoft tries to have Siege be a jack of all trades, but a master of none, only to realize that nobody wants a jack of all trades. Either be a full on casual memefest or a dedicated competitive game, Siege can't be both, otherwise the game will suffer in the long run as the communities continue to divide and fracture. I personally think at this point to embrace the competitive scene and getting players hooked into that kind of gameplay, it's the complexity of the game and the ways you can tackle problems combined with the interesting setting and characters that I think is what sells Siege (at least, for me) I just hope eventually Ubisoft can muscle up and bite the bullet before the bullet bites them sometime in the long run.
I like to play the unranked game mode because it has the flexibility allowed in ranked (pick and ban, choose your bomb site, etc) but there's not as many sweaty asshats because it doesn't have a number attached to it.
It’s just annoying when I accidentally make gold when I belong in silver and then my rando teammates with more games played in 1 quarter than I have played total just constantly gripes at me
Play the way yu play bro if they dnt like it mute them 👍🏿 yu could watch and observe while anchoring or play comfortably its not the place to try tricks and shit so dnt take it as a joke but consider it a learning lesson. @@AlexNV75 what you lack in mechanical skill you can make up for with knowledge. Try find yourself a friend with good aim then you can rely his/her frags and your own smarts
Ubisoft's decisions in the last few years have been puzzling to say the least. It seems like the thought process is to balance everything perfectly and that if things are balanced for pro league they'll be balanced for everyone else. But that imo has led to the lack of investment in the core systems and fixing bigger issues. Like imagine how much time went into the gonne 6 and it's completely redundant to grenades. That time would have been better spent on fixing some of the really annoying glitches or doing an operator rework. Literally anything else.
Toxic bullshit is why I kinda stopped playing siege, I kept on getting team killed or insulted(racial slurs/sexual harassment/death threats) or belittled for being out of practice that I just stepped away and haven’t played much for a while. I LOVED siege when I started playing in blood orchid but can’t stand it now with all the bullshit both ubi and the community do.
I think you're spot-on with the comment that Siege is just showing its age. How many games are over 5 years old and still going strong? Not many. I thought that by now there would be a Siege 2 or some other major engine upgrade or something to make things feel "new" again. Don't get me wrong, I still love playing because I'm one of those weirdos that love the game, but I think it's time for a Siege 2 that takes the best things from Siege and adds new things and makes it better, and uses a new engine.
Seige now already can crack your brain if with all strats you can think off... Next siege maybe just graphics upgrade... This game not feels repetitive because of new meta strats so on eventho its 6 years old game. This game not played for fun because can die as early as spawn.
Siege feels like the game for people who are smart enough to understand really complex and tiny aspects of a shooter but who lack the mechanical skill to play shooters that require precise aim. It’s the game for COD players who think they’re smart and CSGO players who can’t aim that well. That’s obviously a generalization, but Siege is definitely a game for someone who both wants to play every major FPS but also hates every major FPS. Besides maybe Support mains on Overwatch, this is probably the only game where you can spend hours learning and climbing, yet never have a reason to improve mechanical gun skill and aim
i hate that Ubisoft isnt adding permanent game modes. if they did, then: 1. Old players will probably come back to test out those game modes and possibly end up staying for it. 2. New players will buy the game, interested in the game mode (again possibly end up staying for it.) 3. Current players will have a game mode they can go to if the OG game mode gets too boring for them. 4. (in the long run) new players will eventually get bored of the game mode and get curious about the OG game and either hate it or love it 5. the game mode (if TDM) is a great way to teach at least some of Siege's mechanics
So well put. I don't even play seige anymore, however, its evident how much time and effort you put into your videos, so I keep watching. Also, you'd be a great stonk trader.
I play on xbox and the second we hit plat my whole stack just disintegrated. It isnt fun to play a competitive game when you know the people you’re playing against are just straight up cheating.
''You're not gonna be able to explain this to somebody the anatomy of a take if they don't know how to drone. You won't be able to explain the anatomy of a hold if they don't know how to set up the site.'' I dunno I liked this quote.
"If you're on console, forget about it. If you don't have mnk, once you get to mid plat, you're wasting your time" I haven't even gotten to Gold III yet and a lot of the people I encounter in Silver have plat charms from a season or two ago.
I was in a ranked before and this guy was gold 3 like 2 seasons before neon dawn and then last season he was plat 1, like how do you go from gold 3 to plat 1,
I’m one of those. Not only are there more mnk users and ddosers on console than ever before, but the overall skill set for siege has changed. This used to be the thinking mans shooter. Slow paced and tactical. Now it’s super fast paced and plays more like checkers rather than chess. It’s not the same great game it was released as (minus them fixing the technical problems with the game, it is a lot more stable now then when it released, so kudos there I guess).
And the time required to get all the stuff keeps going up. Not all of us are high school students that can spend hours upon hours a day on a video game :(
Well speaking of tactical, what if Siege added new game mode called Realism, where the lightings was dark and grimmy back when the game was released, the gun fights being comparable to Insurgency Sandstorm being based off of the type of ammunition, no hub and bringing back night mode for all the maps? I know the game feels less tactical in today's standard, so I though this game mode idea could revive that feeling and may bring back at least a good chunk of players that used to play Siege for that element.
as a r6s player who has been absolutely turned off from this game, i would like to see: -A reduction in operator changes (ever since they started to fuck with jager’s speed, the game has been less and less fun) -a vanilla/ classic gamemode where it’s just a playlist of classic maps, with vanilla/year 1 ops with their og stats, loadouts, and game mechanics -cross plat for consoles -more arcade gamemodes (come on like make a ffa respawn gamemode or like 24/7 one in the chamber gamemode) -COMPLETELY NEW MAPS WITH NEW/UNIQUE OPERATORS WITH NEW GUNS
i feel like siege not only has a problem trying to gain new players, but because it requires a lot of knowledge and constantly changes, if people take a break they will then have a hard time learning the game again and might stop completely. i dont know if this is the same for anybody else, but i personally stopped playing so much after my study started and i had a lot less time to play. playing less means that i lose skill and i am no longer at the rank i should be, especially since i played a lot during a lockdown and summer vacation so i got into platinum but when i stopped playing i shoud be somewhere around silver. however if i play ranked i get screamed at for not being good enough, so i dont play ranked anymore. but when i try to play casual i still get placed with higher ranks, so usually i die pretty early into the round and have to wait 2 minutes before finally being able to play again or dont see anyone for 3 minutes before getting shot from an angle i didnt know existed. siege just stops being enjoyable if you stop playing for a while or you are not able to invest as much time into it
I just wish the made the battlepass similar to the way it is in fortnite where instead of getting 4 challenges every 2 weeks, you get 5-7 challenges every week.
@@dogotthatdog7637 you only have to win an unranked match to level up the battle pass, and if not 1 game than 2. if the battle pass is 80 days long and you play 2-4 matches a day you can easily get to level 100 within that time. fortnite its harder to consistently level it up so they have to give a lot of challenges along side it
@@bulletnotloaded3586 So I feel like a battle pass is not needed because I know they want money and all but before all that fix the game base first fix all the maps and stuff before just worrying about the next character and just one map alot of people complain about alot of stuff about this game but changes are made slowly and a battle pass with skins doesn't really change or make the game better.Like don't get me wrong I love siege and hope for it to continue for years on out but they need to focus on the bigger picture
And even if new players persevere and start playing ranked the ever present smurfs make it hell. All it needs it one player goimg 10+ and it ruins the entire match for everyone else. Ubi should include a message “if this your first season playing ranked expect to go copper”
The divide is real. I was always someone who preferred Casual to Competitive, but the problem was I was getting absolutely ass blasted by competitive players who came in to warm up. I switched to Competitive with my boys but then people start caring about rank and it leads to flaming and fatigue way faster. A deathmatch and gun range would curb this issue
Imma add my 2 cents For example, i dont understand why they dont add the stadium maps to ranked. I understand it was a "ltm" type of thing, yet the maps were really good for comp and ranked. Just think more ranked viable maps couldnt hurt the game, only make it better. Playing oregon 40x in a row is lame and not fun. but it happens because of the map bans and there not being enough maps seen as "good" by the community.
I think they need to get rid of map bans, like last season I played skyscraper 3 times in 3 months, they need to force people to play the maps to learn them
like unironically when me and my friends play unranked and such we ban maps like oregon because its so fucking boring playing the same shit 48x in a row
Taking special game modes and making a rotating playlist on a biweekly basis could be really beneficial. However, I fear they will try to do some kind of storyline mode that either ends up being a boring melodrama OR pushes a bunch of misconceptions and misinformation about how terrorism works, can be combated, and why it happens in the same vein that we have seen in some of the CoD games.
to me it's balancing.. sometimes they make changes that leave me like "why? it was perfect before." or even "you just has to do this and it would work way better than whatever that is". I'm not a diamond from season one but I'm decent enough to say that the new team isn't good with changes and balancing.
I appreciate the lvl 50 thing is to deter cheaters and booster but me and a few friends who just got back into siege convinced 2 of our friends to buy siege, unaware they had to now be rank 50 to play ranked. I'm pretty sure they've never played since.
I was around from Closed Beta and I quit the game around the time Zero was introduced. I'm not gonna sit here and say the game is dying but I do want to point out that the main reason why I got out is that this game I waaay competitive even in quick match I feel the sweatiness and there are too many rules for my to get. Siege has an special place in my heart and I hope I get to go back and play so more when there is more gameplay than just.... Bomb
Good vid Gregor, I relate to this topic heavily. I came from overwatch to rainbow 6 during year two cause overwatch was so toxic in competitive I had to bounce. Now four years later it’s hard to keep playing as a console player. I recently got my hands on a ps5 and debated getting the rainbow 6 ultimate edition but after looking at how ranked is rn especially on console I think I’m gonna put my chips in overwatch 2 being playable. Still stickin around for your good ass content tho!
I officially left siege after being a hard stuck plat 3 on console for 3 years the game isn’t as fun as it used to be and mnk users are everywhere and every one you meet has an ego for having a higher rank than you.
The lack of content is a bigger problem than most of the other things wrong with this game, genuinely what is supposed to incentivize you to come back to ranked season after season? A sparsely reworked map with only a handful of changes to the layout? 1 operator per season that barley changes the meta with a recycled gun loadout? On top of all of that the limited time modes are often for too short of a time and seemingly with none of the limited time modes ever becoming permanent and it’s no wonder the fractured community ditched this game for valorant or moved onto modern warfare since those games receive far more impactful updates on a far more consistent basis. Sadly it feels like Ubi is not even trying anymore and are content to let this game die
how about a 30k seasonal skin, or or how about a single uniform for a op for 30k renown, orrr new bundles that nobody wants, or new nerfs that nobody asked for..
Being a new player of Siege today is absolute hell. Firstly, the amount of operators in the game is overwhelming for newbies. Not only will you have to familiarize yourself with the gadgets of over 50 operators, but you also have to study the relationships of each gadget with one another (i.e thermite charges are disabled by mute jammers). Secondly, this game doesn't have any in-depth tutorial sections that properly teach the things mentioned above. T-Hunt and "Basics of Siege" can help but they don't prepare you for what's to come in actual matches. If Ubisoft wants more people playing Siege, they have to start putting features that encourage and make it easier for newbies to learn the game (with fun).
For the past 6 months, I've been constantly playing a game that's 3 years old and not even a multiplayer. Far Cry 5. I now have 400 hours in a game that was meant to be 30 hours long. I've just lost interest in Siege tbh
wanting to play the game competitively is completely exhausting because the guns are hard to use and you have to main just one operator to have good mastery with them. Theres too many maps to remember and I can barely remember the reworks because they happen soooo often and I suddenly get flanked because I forgot there's a new hallway in basement on chalet because there are so many intricacies that feel as if I will never be able to learn unless I play this game all the time
i love the potential that sieges gameplay offers. the destruction, the teamwork, the close quarters combat, all of it but man its hard to enjoy it right now. like when i do well and dont run into shit heads its enjoyable but that just does not happen frequently enough for me. i wish i had a stack to play with but the game is so inaccessible to new players that none of my friends even have the slightest interest in trying it and rankly i dont blame them.
Gregor is right about the unfairness on console, however he forgot to mention the amount of bugs there and yeah I know they exists in PC too but this time it's worse than last season. I think i'm just gonna play enough to get my money's worth of Battle Pass and then I'm out
It’s even more fractured than one can imagine. I live in ranked in ps4 and people don’t wanna use their mics because if u make a mistake or don’t play a situation like the spectators would, you will get ridiculed. On the other hand Its kinda magical when everyone on the team is one the same page without coms. But then, any given lost round a raging virgin will unmute his mic and yell” U guys fucking suck” lol. MnK also just makes u rage and you can’t relay that rage to your opponents so you lash out on teammates. *sighs* why can’t i quit you??
basically the game is good but it is missing features that a lot of modern games miss : a bunch of modes to sandbox/train in.. like a shooting range or better costum game options or a DM, these will help with the learning curve for new players and will allow content creators to create content more easily, also help the competitive scene, like how in cs:go there are certain throws people train for and stuff
I ended up moving to insurgency recently and I think i realized what siege is missing. A way of playing it with lower stakes. It’s so hard to play casually because everyone wants to win so badly it becomes a sweat fest. Even if you queue with some friends just for fun, you can only get curb stomped so many times in casual before you quit or go hard. And if playing a video game becomes too much work It’s not worth it I wish there was a game that was a combo of insurgency and siege. A realistic tactical shooter (kind of) but you have gadgets and abilities that change the way the map plays. And instead of a building have a big map with buildings and outdoor areas so you can choose more about your range and play style.
Ubisoft is actively worsen Rainbow Six with little changes that no one asked, like: - the removal of the Season Pass and all of it's benefits. The replacement is one of the shittiest Battle Pass system a game could offer - the removal of Daily Challenges, that makes the game even more grinder than already it is Everything has become more stale and repetitive, there's little to nothing new, both in terms of maps and weapons. Arcade events used to be something cool and different, now the best we can get is either a reskinned map or a "wacky weapon that makes wacky stuff". I feel a general attitude of lazyness and poor thought process from the dev team. I still love this game, and i still wanna love it for a long time, but goddamn if Ubisoft is not making everything to make me unistall it.
I agree. I used to play ranked all the time, but there's just no momentum outside of the game to keep me going. To counter CSGO and Valorant's lineup videos, we have nothing. You, Reaper, and Kaosx. I think the game could benefit hugely from a large overhaul on a new engine, new modes, and reworked maps!
I think that Ubisoft needs to draw inspiration from overwatch somewhat, *GASP*, I know but the arcade section of overwatch holds a variety of variations to the base game like death match and elimination but whenever they have a special event they put it there as well anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk
Insanely well done video Gregor, you captured what I feel is this community's general concerns in a spot on summary. I love this game so much, but it's certainly on rough waters, I don't think it will die all of the sudden, but the disconnect between whatever Ubi is doing to ensure the game's longevity, with our own concerns it's certainly not helping. I am low-key worried, but hey... there is always Valorant right? I just need a PC :(
I'm exactly one of those guys that left the game because it just became too unrealistic and arcady, a real shame too cuz the basic gameplay and concepts are really nice but it just got ruined for my with sci fi gadgets and immersion breaking character designs, at least there's still sandstorm and rising storm vietnam.
Started playing with a group of friends and still can't understand why we have to grind to level 50 (not 20, or even 35?) Just to play ranked placements? Ubisoft is dumb for having a high entry ceiling in a competitive game like r6.
the game is so incredibly stupid and annoying i have to delete and reinstall a million things before even launching the game or it just crashes no other game on my pc gives me any problems the devs dont even know how to make a game tried to refund it but steam wont
6:55 Well yeah that is the reason but I think there's a more important underlying question here: why doesn't it get views? Siege has a big player base, so why doesn't it get views? Because the majority of siege players are shitters! Not that that's a bad thing, siege has probably the biggest learning curve of any big competitive FPS. But the thing is, that's why LMG mounted and loaded is such a big part of siege's culture. That's why if you're anything above Gold then other people will just assume you're a greaselord or a virgin. Because you can put years into this game but if you don't either have a pretty talented aim or (more likely) put in the work and grind, you're never getting higher than silver, it just won't happen. I think Siege is faced with one of the most interesting problems in any modern multiplayer FPS: it's too hard. Which sounds impossible because when we consider the bell curve of player skill, everything is about ratio between players so it seems impossible to be "too hard". But breaking through silver and gold in siege takes so long that most people will just never do it, and the only other way to have fun in the game besides playing competitively is LMG mounted and loaded, which as we all know from experience doesn't work in the long term and usually leads to casuals dropping the game after they fill their quota of getting shit on by better players in quick match.
Here is my problem with siege, back in the day when I started playing, frost and buck just released. Now casual games were casual me and my friends could jump in a game and have fun. We would rush into the building and go for the obj back when we could turn off all the shit maps and only played secure area which I personally liked because I am not a fan of bomb anyway this style of aggressive play lasted until just after jackal and Mira released it was enjoyable and I would constantly drop 10 kills or more a game and I ranked around gold 1 to plat 3. I could be aggressive and still play well it was how I felt the game should be played and just sitting on 1 doorway for 3 minutes. Eventually it too long after that I dropped the game for a bit for me it was becoming pretty stale they weren’t doing a lot of changes that I liked, removing Jagers acog and ash’s acog making shields require more than 1 nitro just really annoying stuff. So I would play here and there but only recently started playing properly again this time I was playing on pc and holy shit how much the game has changed. Everybody plays like the biggest pussy even in casual trying to rank up it’s just a massive sweatfest. I can’t even drop 5 kills anymore let alone the 10-15 that I used too. The new maps suck and I feel like every game people just sit and hold 1 peek or rotate to 1 different area, it’s so boring like where is the fun in that. Anyway that’s just my perspective from someone who played the game in the early and mid years the game has definitely seen a shift in my opinion for the worse.
Them reworking most of the base maps now ruined it for me. It’s to defender sided, you can drone for half the round and still die to a camping defender when you enter the main door.
Bought siege about 3 years ago didn’t play it much and dropped it because I didn’t have anyone to consistently play with. Recently I convinced one of my friends to get it and I’ve been having a lot of fun. Definitely got my ass kicked a few times but I’m improving everyday and I’m having fun learning as I go (I play a lot of fighting games so I’m no stranger to getting stomped as part of the learning process). Even as a “new” player though I can agree on all the points you made. It’s crazy to me that there isn’t a firing range in this game, even for honor added in a training mode. I have trouble believing it would be that hard to just make a room to practice shooting some targets or even practicing other aspects of the game.
After the last few months of me playing siege, i would like an open firing range, with infinite ammo, grenades, and special abilities for the operator i choose. A open slate where I can practice specific things without the worry. Like for practicing drop shots, or to practice melee, and recoil.
Every other shooter in existence has all of their gamemodes available. On a normal day of siege the most you can get is an event, arcade, casual, unranked/ranked, and situations and Th I guess.

Ubisoft: Favela Casual Rework
Ubi gave finka the gonne 6 and removed her frags
@@sponsorskipman1971 I honestly think the Gonne-6 is a neat idea, but the fact that it has ONE shot, requires line of sight, and can also be sniped by Jägers 'splodey snipers, makes it really useless, compared to the frags that it most often replaced.... Had it been given multiple shots, that would make it more useful, as it could have 3 or 4, making it capable of destroying more gadgets than a frag, and with more accuracy, but then, having just two of them could take out the other teams defenses almost entirely...
So... I like the idea behind it, but I think it would be hard to balance..

So it becomes a more niche game
Or you could cater towards the casuals.
You and I are on the same page for the most part here. The game needs to embrace how hard it is to learn and make it a rewarding challenge to conquer.
I couldn't have said it better myself 👌🏻

Reaper en has good pro league analysts
What you said at the end is exactly it. Siege is kind of in a limbo where currently it doesn't really know what it is, apart from the casual community, but the casual community is volatile and will jump ship if they find another game they like. Siege needs to figure out what it wants to be and head that way.

Two.

I personally think at this point to embrace the competitive scene and getting players hooked into that kind of gameplay, it's the complexity of the game and the ways you can tackle problems combined with the interesting setting and characters that I think is what sells Siege (at least, for me)
I just hope eventually Ubisoft can muscle up and bite the bullet before the bullet bites them sometime in the long run.

Damn greg what texture pack is this for Valorant? Almost reminds me of a Tom Clancey Title.
Lol, the R6 video everyone was waiting for is finally here. Love the vids, keep em materializing!
i hate that Ubisoft isnt adding permanent game modes. if they did, then:
1. Old players will probably come back to test out those game modes and possibly end up staying for it.
2. New players will buy the game, interested in the game mode (again possibly end up staying for it.)
3. Current players will have a game mode they can go to if the OG game mode gets too boring for them.
4. (in the long run) new players will eventually get bored of the game mode and get curious about the OG game and either hate it or love it
5. the game mode (if TDM) is a great way to teach at least some of Siege's mechanics
I wouldnt want to be a level designer for this game seems like a nightmare
''You're not gonna be able to explain this to somebody the anatomy of a take if they don't know how to drone.
You won't be able to explain the anatomy of a hold if they don't know how to set up the site.''
I dunno I liked this quote.
I feel he can make a video about WHY you should play siege and the games sales would rocket 🚀 real shit lol
"If you're on console, forget about it. If you don't have mnk, once you get to mid plat, you're wasting your time"
I haven't even gotten to Gold III yet and a lot of the people I encounter in Silver have plat charms from a season or two ago.
You forgot to mention that they removed daily challenges and replaced it with an incredibly long and slow battlepass
Gregor says he can’t be a chart guy then shows us that he could definitely be a chart guy with his big brain
as a r6s player who has been absolutely turned off from this game, i would like to see:
-A reduction in operator changes (ever since they started to fuck with jager’s speed, the game has been less and less fun)
-a vanilla/ classic gamemode where it’s just a playlist of classic maps, with vanilla/year 1 ops with their og stats, loadouts, and game mechanics
-cross plat for consoles
-more arcade gamemodes (come on like make a ffa respawn gamemode or like 24/7 one in the chamber gamemode)
-COMPLETELY NEW MAPS WITH NEW/UNIQUE OPERATORS WITH NEW GUNS
i feel like siege not only has a problem trying to gain new players, but because it requires a lot of knowledge and constantly changes, if people take a break they will then have a hard time learning the game again and might stop completely. i dont know if this is the same for anybody else, but i personally stopped playing so much after my study started and i had a lot less time to play. playing less means that i lose skill and i am no longer at the rank i should be, especially since i played a lot during a lockdown and summer vacation so i got into platinum but when i stopped playing i shoud be somewhere around silver. however if i play ranked i get screamed at for not being good enough, so i dont play ranked anymore. but when i try to play casual i still get placed with higher ranks, so usually i die pretty early into the round and have to wait 2 minutes before finally being able to play again or dont see anyone for 3 minutes before getting shot from an angle i didnt know existed. siege just stops being enjoyable if you stop playing for a while or you are not able to invest as much time into it
Ubi just keeps making stupid game changes that no one asked for and they completely ignore what people are asking for
I feel like siege will grow once they stop caring about a battle pass
Why? a Battlepass is a great idea
@@dogotthatdog7637 That or just make the battle pass easier last battle pass took 100 days so why 70 for this one
6:23 yup, fighting games will have apps that will show things like the exact amount of frames each attack has, and that is mad useful.
Imma add my 2 cents
For example, i dont understand why they dont add the stadium maps to ranked.
I think they need to get rid of map bans, like last season I played skyscraper 3 times in 3 months, they need to force people to play the maps to learn them
@@michaelpetrie1321 same dude. i honestly dont think there are any "bad" maps, just difficult ones. They at least need more maps if they want bans
like unironically when me and my friends play unranked and such we ban maps like oregon because its so fucking boring playing the same shit 48x in a row
@@mochidog1515 apart from outback fuck outback, also I’m just tired of playing Oregon 50+ times a season
@@michaelpetrie1321 honestly me and my friends understand why people dont like outback, but we personally enjoy lol
R6S doesn’t need too much marketing. People who really want to play them don’t need an ad.
Heavily agree was trying to get this point across, this game is for no one
I officially left siege after being a hard stuck plat 3 on console for 3 years the game isn’t as fun as it used to be and mnk users are everywhere and every one you meet has an ego for having a higher rank than you.
Purposefully or not the cutoff at the end made your point so much stronger
As Pat McAfee once said "WE ARE KICKING IT"
For the past 6 months, I've been constantly playing a game that's 3 years old and not even a multiplayer.
I think i'm just gonna play enough to get my money's worth of Battle Pass and then I'm out
This video is HIGHLY needed, I love Siege but they really need to get their shit together if they want to keep this game afloat
And if playing a video game becomes too much work It’s not worth it
I wish there was a game that was a combo of insurgency and siege. A realistic tactical shooter (kind of) but you have gadgets and abilities that change the way the map plays. And instead of a building have a big map with buildings and outdoor areas so you can choose more about your range and play style.
Ubisoft is actively worsen Rainbow Six with little changes that no one asked, like:
- the removal of the Season Pass and all of it's benefits. The replacement is one of the shittiest Battle Pass system a game could offer
- the removal of Daily Challenges, that makes the game even more grinder than already it is
Everything has become more stale and repetitive, there's little to nothing new, both in terms of maps and weapons.
I liked this one. It made my brain do the thinking thing.
Damn. You good
legit the closest thing we have to an arcade mode that is somewhat consistent is me and the boys full-squading as recruit on yacht
Outbreak was the funnest zombie game i have ever played. Playing that with friends was so damn fun. Wish i had bought more of those packs
Started playing with a group of friends and still can't understand why we have to grind to level 50 (not 20, or even 35?) Just to play ranked placements? Ubisoft is dumb for having a high entry ceiling in a competitive game like r6.
"what will get me worried about sieges future is if Ubisoft try's to please everyone... theyll please noone" TC and Gears 5 right now.
the game is so incredibly stupid and annoying
i have to delete and reinstall a million things before even launching the game or it just crashes
no other game on my pc gives me any problems
the devs dont even know how to make a game
tried to refund it but steam wont
But breaking through silver and gold in siege takes so long that most people will just never do it, and the only other way to have fun in the game besides playing competitively is LMG mounted and loaded, which as we all know from experience doesn't work in the long term and usually leads to casuals dropping the game after they fill their quota of getting shit on by better players in quick match.
just get all the arcade games into one big playlist and that’ll make us happy, that’s all we ask:)))
2:15
A GLORIOUS HELLO TO YOU-
After the last few months of me playing siege, i would like an open firing range, with infinite ammo, grenades, and special abilities for the operator i choose.
