Thanks for the video and the info. That’s quite surprising!! Just had a new door fitted (thumb turn lock) and want to change the cylinder for a more secure thumb turn one. In your opinion, or if you were looking to change your own one, which would you choose ?
Cheers for watching 🍻 You would get better advice from a professional locksmith which cylinder locks to choose, I only pick them for a bit of fun and I do not feel I’m qualified to give advice regarding the security of them, sorry 🙁
Hey great video about this theme I've heard about this design flaw and I'm asking myself if there is any possibility to know which thum turn can be bypassed and which not? Can you see this or is there any other chance to avoid that?
That's why they often have a deadbolt installed as well. Although normally you can only access it from the inside so isn't much use if your out for the day. From my experience most private landlords use Yale rim locks in the UK, which tend to demand a premium just for the name. So if they aren't that good it's not out of deliberate cost cutting.
What's the difference between the ones you couldn't get into and the ones that you could? Do you have makes and models? And are they the British standard for home insurance purposes? This is terrifying😭
I thought it already was mate there have been videos on UA-cam for many years showing bypass tools I’m not the first to make one and certainly won’t be the last 🤔
History shows where this goes, look at another example, let's keep bumping not public knowledge. Then, after 80yrs, it became a popular technique among thieves. It is so until today. After 20 more years. Do you want more such locks to be sold and used? The lock should be secure, not people uneducated.
All you've shown is a bypass not under the frictional forces of the bolt, related components and the door frame. It's like watching my car window wipers without a windshield. This is not realistic.
@@BrummieLockPicker Getting closer to reality, but it's not installed in a door. The door jam will often bind on the surface of the bolt(s). And, the bolt in your video is just one of many types of bolts and mechanisms, and they all behave differently, especially with seasonal changes.
I’m not a locksmith and do not pick locks in working doors so that is about as good as it gets, I think your watching the wrong channel if your after real life locksmiths 🤔
@@BrummieLockPicker No, I'm not watching the wrong channel. Unless you can prove to your audience that your approach hasn't been tested on real doors, maybe a disclaimer is needed. Yes, Aliexpress sells versions of your wire. It doesn't mean it will work every time or that it won't break or get jammed in a lock. There will be 10 guys showing UA-cam videos of bypassing thess locks, but never on doors. Thanks for your friendly feedback.😉
Excellent video Brummie - that’s an eye opener for sure!
Cheers for watching 👍🍻
How do you know which ones can't be bypassed?
That's scary how easy a good lock was opened , no picks , no tension tool... just a bit of wire bent at one end , I'm going to try that lol
It doesn’t work on all thumb turn locks but when it does they are so simple to open
Cheers for watching Peter 🍻👍
So which type are the back 4 that resist this please?
And that's Brummie magic for you.
Thanks Roy 👍
It's totally bonkers, isn't it!
Nice one mate 👍 🍻
Yeah it bonkers 🤣🤣
Cheers mate 🍻
Is it strong enough to work when it's in the door as there should be more force on the wire to turn the internal door mechanism

@@BrummieLockPicker no worries. I will take your advice. Thanks for replying to me 👍
Is there a way to tell which can be by passed or not before you buy? Return policies are often a nightmare.
The second lock even has anti-snap protection, what a waste of effort when such a simple bypass attack works. Cheers!
Cheers for watching 🍻🍻
Glad you said they can't all be bypassed as I did have a go but no joy 👍
Cheers for watching again mate 🍻
How do you 'look for ones that can't be bypassed'?
Hey great video about this theme
I've heard about this design flaw and I'm asking myself if there is any possibility to know which thum turn can be bypassed and which not? Can you see this or is there any other chance to avoid that?
The only way to know is try it as far as I am aware, Cheers for watching 🍻
How tick is that wire? Wanna make something like that myself.
What thickness piano wire I'm going to try this. After all the bloody money I've wasted on tools over the years too ha!!
I used 1.5mm wire but had to grind flat edges on the wire for it to fit in the keyway
Watch out students as all HMO's have to have thumb turns on ext doors by law. You just know the landlord won't have gone for the good locks.

So as are you going to tell us which ones can't be bypassed? Or is it a guessing game?
I need me a set of those
Simple to make yourself 👍
What is it turning? The actuator of thumb turn?
This video will show you 👍 ua-cam.com/video/A45nEW0DWwA/v-deo.html
Hi would this work with a normal cylinder with a key left in on the inside ?
No the wire would push the key out, cheers for watching 🍻
Ah but will it work in situ? The mechanism has a bit more tension on it that that.
Yeah it does work, watch video No. 786
this is a good video
👍
Всем производителям придется учесть этот момент, а пользователям знать об этом.
Отличное видео 👏🔓👍😁💯
👍👍
Fantastic
Cheers 🍻🍻
Very good
I want to buy one ? From where ?
Bro do you work in London? Do you have a website
What's the difference between the ones you couldn't get into and the ones that you could?
Do you have makes and models? And are they the British standard for home insurance purposes? This is terrifying😭
how to know types that cant be bypassed can you give me some examples?
You do not know until you try them, the ones in video are 2 examples 👍
Others have a Security disc in, stops getting tiok right through, have to be carefuĺ the toll doesn't get Trapped inside
Wow
Unshielded lock
Вот так вот,зачем тогда замки?
What a worry!!!
😢 this shouldn’t be public knowledge mate

It's a widely known thing with lockpickers, your insurance may not be valid ,if thumb turns are installed on a ground floor door,
@@nigelcompton966 very rare if an insurance company would say that. They may state that the cylinder should be 1* or above to prevent this attack tho.
@@GxAxV 1* can be bypassed too, depends on the make of lock.
