    You can do this without removing the upper condenser hose, by snipping the top and bottom of a little piece of plastic that surrounds that upper hose. If you snip that, you can move the fan around the condenser line and remove it without removing the condenser or losing your freon.

      Yes and when you buy new fan,the new fan comes already pre-cut so it can fit in

      Mason Holloway this was what I was thinking but I didn’t have the confidence to do that until I read your post. Thanks you saved my Freon. 🤘

    I just finished doing this in a 2002. Thanks for the video. I also removed the cross bar that the hood latch is attached to, only four bolts but it helps a lot. With the top cross member and the first two bolts you removed out you can pull the entire assembly out the front to remove the side bolts and mounts. For people who can't get under their truck this will make it possible to easily remove the bottom shroud bolts (mine snapped anyways)...lol
    Thanks again and for all the viewers, ignore those other videos removing the battery box and such. It is VERY unnecessary.

    You didn't show how to remove the ac line from the condensor. You spent about 10 seconds examining a fuse you removed though. Once the power supply is removed from the condensor fan there is no power so no real need to pull the fuse.

      3 Dreams I was thinking the same thing. This Video is not for an experienced mechanic nor is it for a novice.

    my fan stopped working..when I tap the back of the fan motor with a small hammer...t starts to spin but not as fast as it should..would you agree that the fan needs to be replaced.??..its 2006 original..or would it be low voltage or sensor not allowing proper voltage.

    Why did you struggle with the screws on either side of the fan shroud if you were going to pull out the whole assembly? Why pull the fuse if you're going to unplug the fan?

      Good call on that, we replaced the relay so that's why we removed it, thanks for your comment

      @2carpros there is no relay, it's a fuse.

    I had the same question about how you prevented loss of coolant before remove the A/C hoses from the condensor. Is there no way to remove the fan housing from the condesor without evacuating the A/C high pressure line? If not, it doesn't seem like an easy replace without that extract equipment.

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  8 років тому

      Yes we worked around the ac line so we did need to vacuum the system down.

    How do you do it without cracking open the AC lines?

  • @SeanDIY
    @SeanDIY 2 роки тому

    I wasn't able to figure out how to unplug my fan. It never runs and I'm thinking that could be why my AC isn't working. I'm thinking either a bad fan or no power to the fan.

  • @aaronshoyt
    @aaronshoyt 6 років тому

    you don't have to unhook the high side.. pull the from rail off the where to hood latches and it's so much easier

    But how to tell that is a fan issue
    The fan on my truck is not running when the AC is on

    • @rayray6824
      @rayray6824 6 років тому

      MJ BA it's pretty easy for the most part...make sure your ac is on while the truck is running and in park...if you hear the ac clutch engage but the fan doesn't turn, there's a few things you can check. 1-wiggle the connector to make sure there isn't a bad connection. If that doesn't work, 2-check the relay in the fuse box under the hood. U can check this by switching it out with the relay for your fog lights if your truck has them. 3-check the resistor under your dash. If its stuck in the open position the fan won't turn on. You can check the resistor with an ohm meter or just replace it. It's pretty easy to do and is still cheaper than the fan motor. If none of these solves the problem, you more than likely have a bad motor on your condenser fan. Hope this helps!

    Tedious video of removing bolts... got as far as removing it, doesn't tell you anything about replacing the fan, putting it back in, or the fact that YOU HAVE TO RECHARGE THE SYSTEM. Look elsewhere if you want to learn how to do this.
