Part 2 of the soft soldering claw making the way I make it .
Use gloves and well ventilated room. It's extremely hot. Use lots of flux for better flow.
Make sure your copper tape is well wrapped.

😱 My heart skipped at 1:59 when a big drip of solder looked like it was gonna collide with your thumb!!! I appreciate the simple tutorial. I just started incorporating solder into my wire wrapped crystals, & it's always nice seeing different techniques that I haven't used yet. I'm very grateful that my Dad, who has over 45yrs of experience with soldering all different types of stuff, shared a lot of his knowledge with me 💓

Thanks for sharing! It's really nice to find people sharing what they've learnt. I've got the basics down of soft soldering, now moving toward decorative soldering, so this will help! Just a tip - you don't actually have to wrap the wire/copper wire in foil, if you add flux, it should just take the solder (may take a few seconds). And if you haven't already, get yourself a burnisher, it will smooth out any creases in your copper foil and ensure it won't come off. Keep up the beautiful work! 😊

Thankyou so much glad you liked it. Actually I was trying it when I didn't knew and no help was available but now I am trying new ways.I will buy the burnished very soon 😊

Is that a special board u use or just would any wooden board work in case solder drops! I just need something cheap and easy. Also, is that a steel wool that u wipe it on? And last question.. if the solder has flux already in it do u need flux beforehand still? Anyway thank u for this awesome video!! Look forward to more!

Can you please explain why you add the wire to the copper tape. Is it due to the size of the piece? Is it solid copper and also what gauge. Thanks, I love your videos, fearless, and I love the look! Also, curious about how you got the copper tape to sick to make the claws. I'm having a rough time with this process! :)

Hi and Thankyou so much for liking the wire i use is for a frame i need to give it a neat look.As not much help available its something i tried .But you can solder it first then add a silver filled wire on the top as well. When you apply copper tape you have to burnish it well with any round tool to ensure it security. Also your crystal should be clean with alcohol so its not oily .Thats another reason the tape won't stick.

Inky Rainbows I had a hard time finding the copper tape when I first started . But I finally found it at hobby lobby . It’s located by the soldering iron and stain glass supplies at my store . Other hobbie stores like Michaels did not carry it in my area ! And as far as the solder there are different softness and hardness of it ? I also asked her what one was used in this video ? The flux I was told to ya absolutely did not work near as well as this she is using . I hope she replies as to where she found it because I have not seen this type ? But it’s hard to tell the name brand ? None the less I’ve been doing this for a while now and I’ve yet to ever have it work as well as it seems to work in this Video? So either I’m terrible at it or this video is extremely edited ! Good luck

@@prinnvandegrift9776 hi, you may want to try a flux called NOKARODE. It is very affordable and can be easily found online via Amazon or at some stained glass supply shops online or local. (I think that is how it is spelled) this flux was recommended to us by a professional artist who said it was recommended to her by another artist 20+ years ago, and she was hooked instantly. Just like it is called.. NOKARODE, it literally does not corrode. (As far as we have been told , and from our short experience using it thus far) There is a lot to explain about soldering and I am ever learning myself. It is a solder paste, so you will brush the flux over the copper foil tape. Where the flux is on the copper foil is where your molten solder will want to go. Be careful about the fumes period. As for which solder to use, when it comes to making a piece that will be in contact with one's body - I'd go with lead free because it is lead free. You can buy it yes at Hobby Lobby and if you do be sure to get a 40% off coupon from this website. You can often find small quantities of lead free solder in tiny soldering kits too maybe even at Hobby Lobby or home depot or Lowe's... Or you can look up Canfield solder and check out what all they offer. Canfield is, as far as I know, one of the best solder brands available. Quick tips, do not use regular water on anything you solder, if you are going to do anything w water on your solder or your soldering iron tip than only use distilled. Hobby Lobby solder works, but it is not as bright and clean looking, it looks kinda cloudy, and not sure if it was their solder or if it was because of the flux we used to use, but some of the stuff we soldered started to grow white mold or corrode and that is a major pain to deal with. I can't remember the name of the copper foil tape we now use, if I find the name I will let you know, but the foil we now use is working a lot nicer than the stuff at the hobby store. Don't get me wrong, I love Hobby Lobby, and am glad they at least carry some stained glass supplies, and they can get the job done - it is just once you discover the differences in quality between some products - well then you know what works better. I hope this little info helps you. There is a lot to learn, and then again maybe not really so much. Depends on how you learn and from what source(s) you are learning from. Some make it so easy to understand. Good luck to you.

@@prinnvandegrift9776 a solder that is fabulous and one of the even better ones for jewellery is Silvergleem . It will give you the brightest silver looking solder for your jewelry. I didn't think to mention it until I read another one of her videos where I discovered she is using it. It is the nuts. Great stuff for jewellery.
